  • Alice Schwarzer

  • angry and irrational

  • Hairyfucklessnaggingbushpigs....oh.. i meant "Harridan".

  • Female

  • pig

  • equality.

  • The first word I thought of was "Liar"

Feminism is a bunch of lies.

  • bigot, lol, just popped up in my head, lol.

  • flaming...

honestly dont know where that came from

  • Woman.

Honestly, that is the first word that poped into my head.lol!

  • Hard to come up with one word, my brain just froze, ill just go with Chauvanist

  • yummy

  • Woman.

  • selfish

  • "Lesbian". But Im not a lesbian but I AM a feminist.

  • Humanist.

"Feminism is the radical notion that women are human beings."

    =X

    Spot was here.

  • "Caution"

  • Fear.

  • Superior because women are superior in every way and men are evil and should all die. I am a proud feminist but am not a woman. I love women in every way, I don't know why but they are amazing.

  • lol. You can begin with yourself. Do it. Start with yourself.

  • And yes, you are a woman, stupid fuck.

  • I think of Ani DiFranco saying' "I think all decent people should call themselves feminists, out of respect..." I can't remember it exactly, but the point is that we who benefit from the fruits of the labor of feminists who went before us owe them more than we know...

  • The first thing, for some reason, wasn't a word, but the feminist protest scene from PCU. I don't know that I really like the word feminist. Too many bad connotations and it's almost like if you are one, you need to explain yourself immediately before the person trys to get away immediately. Feminist tends to = "angry violent woman" for most.

  • Angry.

It has a negative connotation for me, sadly. I'm not sure why, but I think it has something to do with taking an extremist position, whether is positive or negative, is still an extreme position.

  • Fist.

It's right there in the word: F emin IST

Plus I think of the sign of strength that is invoked when a person holds up a fist a la Black Power, Woman Power, etc.

Then, of course, there's Rosie The Riveter and her inspirational cartoon fist.

  • I would have like it more if my mind would have come to a more descriptive meaning of how I subconsciously view feminism; but the word that I immediately thought of was: woman.

Maybe this is an indictaion that I believe that more women are feminists, as opposed to feminisms relation to women's empowerement.Oh, I wish freud were here!

  • "Woman" seems to be quite a neutral response. I'm not Freud but I would suggest that it means you are quite open in your feelings towards it. I.e., you didn't narrow it to some derivative impression that might unfairly color it.

  • actually nothing comes to mind when i read the word.perhaps i've never actually met a feminist or have and did not perceive anything different......

  • I have nothing against any of the feminists I've actually met, but I've gotten a really bad impression from the militant attention-whores that have represented what this word means to me through negative publicity.

That being said, "bitch" was the first thing that came to mind.

(although, "leg hair" was a close second)

  • Strong

Not necessarily entirely in a good way.

  • feminist. :)

  • You math-nerds aren't terribly creative, are you?

    Just kidding.

  • She asked me the first word that came to mind. Not the first *other* word that I associated with it. :) In that case it would be "Sophie". ;)

  • Hey, are you buttering me up? Good job. I'd be happy to be your chauffeur. If only we were on the same continent...

  • Bitch.

And that's because the instant connection I make is with the ultra-feminist man-hating lunatics.

The more liberal types of feminism (such as the Suffragette movement), I don't usually consider feminism. I consider it common sense.

  • the only feminists i know that actually feel they need to say they are feminists are usually the women that want to change the word history because its derived from "his story" or that the word Manhole (as in sewers)should be changed to something more gender neutral. I have nothing wrong with a woman standing up for equal rights, but come on...the word "history"? Thats taking it a bit far. Unfortunatly those are the people i think of when i hear the word feminist.

  • Spokes-model

  • my bestfriends, my girlfriends

  • hair(unshaved)

  • humanist

  • A one word response to a system of thought that is at least 40 years old (well over a hundred if you include the suffragette movement), has branched out to a staggering degree, and is nearly impossible to encapsulate in a book let alone a word?

    Sure: equality

  • oh god

  • dyke

not because i really believe that, but because its joked about so much its tattooed on my brain

  • Gloria Steinem

  • The first word that popped into my head was a name and the owner of that name shall remain nameless to all of you!! Lest I would be in grave danger.

    :)

  • Hairy

  • bullsh!t

(honestly, that's the first word that came into my head)

  • Woman who stands up for herself

  • -ism

  • woman

  • Bitch :P

  • masculinist

  • equality

  • woman

  • Warrior.

  • patriarchy

  • ...er...female?

My mind was already kinda skewed by the title, though.

Honestly, I was thinking of random F words, and with the way my mind works, flatulence came to mind first...:P

  • woman

  • Oppression.

  • "lesbians" - and that is NOT I repeat NOT a put down - my lesbian friends embrace the word - my straight female friends are hesitant to use it - also a disproportionate amount of the proactive initiatives for women in my area have been headed by wonderful, warm, courageous, free thinking lesbians

  • Awesome

I mean that in more than one way. "Awesome" as in someone who I am more likely to like, "awesome" as in powerful, because the intelligent, the open minded, the moral...these are the powerful, the ones who strike me with awe. Feminists, by definition, are all of those.

  • nevermind

  • Power

  • equality

  • Outspoken women who fight against the standard stereotype that above all else just want to be treated equal with others based on abilities as opposed to gender.

  • More than one word!

  • women

  • Pseudo-equality...I may have just made up a new word...

  • That's exactly what I was thinking, thank you for making up a word for it.

  • The first word I thought of was "bitch". Not very PC, but since it was not a conscious choice I decided to be honest about it.

  • Sex? "verb"

  • halo. I play to many games.

  • misunderstood

  • GET IN THE KITCHEN BITCH!

  • Strength

  • 2 words popped in quickly, in this order-

    1) Good

    2) Rights

  • 2 words popped in quickly, in this order-

    1) Good

    2) Rights

  • Fighter!

  • Its not 'a' word, its a picture.

tough, macho, overpowering, dominating, brutish, unfeminine, angry, bitter, slogan shouting, sign wielding, possibly lesbian woman.

Yes, it has baggage for me, I confess.

And yes, I am wrong, but thats the first image that enters my head.

  • Gotta agree with you there "thequestionmarkofGod" thats the same image that pops into my mind. Not a word but an image. Nevertheless the group I belong to here in sacramento called AOF (google AOF of Sacramento) has lots of ties to feminist organisations. So my image association to your word does not dictate my actions.

  • Mine either, My brain gives an image but then I consciously override it after. So we end up sounding like jerks we really aren't.

  • McDonalds.

Don't know why, but that's what popped into my head.

  • Activist.

  • Political

  • Futurist

  • Woman.

  • power

  • Misandry

  • equality

  • Fear of Flying.

  • Sex. lol
