  • Fascinating, agree with the earlier comments about getting stuck at the crossing waiting for this beast to pass....good chance to catch a nap..lol. That would be an awesome sight to see in person though. Thanks for the upload

  • Your video went viral on Yerevan

  • CN is now running some of these monster trains

  • Your video is a favorite on Maldives

  • What were they testing....motorists' patience?

  • @hokie1964 most probably.... not everybody is thrilled like us railfans by a view like this it seems

  • The Guinnes record is australian

    /watch?v=qZgodWbEuG4&feature=colike

  • Chuck Norris' toy train

  • I thought I'd seen some long trains !

  • i swear if u get stuck at a crossing and a train like that shows up u can kiss what ever u have to do goodbye for at least a very long time depends how long it is trust me i have had experience with them got stuck at a crossing for 2 hours cause of a monster freight i counted 235 cars and only 3 engines

  • @thetrainguynk20 Lol, 3 loco's thats y it took so long to pass because it only had enough power to get the train moving n keep it going. If it was a high priority train it would have more units for it.

  • @trainmanjosair Gawd. You know not what you are talking about.

  • @Boss302fan Actually i do know what im talking about. I'm not talking about this Monster stack train, i was talking about the comment that thetrainguynk20 had said. Look @ what he said n u will c what i am talking about.

  • thumbs up and favorite

  • Where this tested and what was its purpose?

  • ...And, three sets of helper units to keep it moving. That is one huge train!

  • This looks an awful lot like the east end of the West Colton yard, in Colton, CA.

  • jaw to floor wow

  • +/- 600 containers... fucking shit

  • That's a big bitch.

  • That's the longest bitch I've ever seen.

  • Wowwy...

  • OMG that's a shitload of freight!

  • what was it exactly were they testing

  • @thesportbikeman a train of that length....

  • @thesportbikeman The profitability and efficiency of moving one very long train vs multiple trains.

  • Bet that cleared out a couple rail yards!

  • Dash 8 csx

  • Great video!!!

  • Watching this was incredible!

Beautiful scenery as well ~ thank you!

  • Great! Prefs!

  • How many locos in this consist? Did anyone count?

  • @twalsh29 3+2+2+2=9

  • Taru and Chrissy watched this and wondered what the h*ll was going on

  • Hope Nothing goes wrong...Can U imagine loosing an air hose?

pulling a drawbar or a knuckle?

there are MANY 'hospital crossings' in towns where lots people have to wait in ambulance while a train crosses.... Don't wanna b there....

  • Comment removed

  • very impressing!!o+O

  • 1 person is an truck driver...

  • wow....

  • cvrd brasil 36000ton

  • obs....locotrem cvrd 340 vagoes

  • I would have added a caboose on the end, for a bit of nostalgia.

  • @AppleSouffle That would have been interesting. I can imagine the look on everyone's faces here if we started breaking up one of these trains and had to deal with a caboose. :>

  • You do know that the train you said was a monster is the longest UP train in the country

  • Great Video for europeans count the containers! that,s it! innovation on track

  • When rail roads began they were mostly government run. There was one private CAPITALIST endeavor. Guess which one survived?

    The privately owned RR.

  • @Deeked Are you talking about North America? Almost all of the early railroads in the US were developed by entrepreneaurs and not the government.

  • Hey people. If it weren't for government subsidies, the rail industry would be all but gone. they would be history. Just like GM should have gone out of business, they should too.

Why do we have to keep paying for shit that is fail every way you look at it.

  • @Deeked The goverment tried to kill off the railroads with taxes and etc until the 1980s.

  • @Floridaman98 Then the Government funneled Ba Billions of tax dollars into the RR to keep it from going under. Let the companies fail already and stop bailing them out!!!

  • @Deeked All of the Class I freight railroads in the US, Canada and Mexico (and most short line and regional railroads) are not only profitable but pay massive taxes.

  • @Boss302fan They don't make a damn penny. If it weren't for subsidies they would have gone under long ago.

  • @Deeked Obviously you don't have any idea of what you're talking about. The audited financials of the Class I, regional and holding companies in the USA not only prove you wrong but prove you very wrong.

So...what subsidies. Point out your evidence. Mine is the published P&L's that you can find on the internet. Show us yours that prove they don't "make a penny".

  • @Deeked Glittering jewel of colossal ignorance.

  • @Deeked You need to get your facts correct.

  • nigooch your comment is totally unsubstantiated and unmerrited. The DPU system is by far the most syphisticated and tested form of continous rail consists in the world. Lets see France or Germany match US technology. The only thing FRA will do is levy fines for violations that we in the rail industry strive everyday to avoid. As a former laid off rail worker I have taken on the challenge to support this multi billion dollar company that is Building America and sustaining our economy. GO UP!!!!

  • @itech46 Yes! I ditto that. As a retired UP/SP Engineer I can tell you... the new DPU system works very well.I can't say the same for the old SP 8300-8350 SD40T-2s. If the UP would just let the engineer us the fence and run the helpers independently, it would work even better. But, the UP writes their rules for the worst engineers, the good ones have to live with it.

  • I used to work for RJ Corman Derailment Services and I have never seen a train this long usually they just combine two trains or put pushers in the back! Would be fun to work a drailment with a train like this!

  • imagine working in that yard on the day that train rolled through? crazy...

  • 9 engines, 295 cars, and 618 contaners, holy crap!

  • Wow 10 lok´s und 297 Wagons Geil XD

  • Go longer better less semi trucks

  • I would like see how they would get this train over cajon pass

  • If u look at the # on this train it's the same train in 3 other videos I've seen with the title "longest/long train". So maybe there are'nt as many "long trains" out there as it appears to be on You Tube. I enjoy viewing them though=)

  • Rediculous! The FRA should IMMEDIATELY put a length restriction on ALL trains! It's absolutely amazing how such a multi-billion dollar a year profite company can even play CHICKEN with the lives of their laid off employees and undermanned under safety trains running through our communities! Gimme a BREAK!

  • @nigooch Play chicken? I'm firmly convinced my employees can manage these trains safely and efficiently. Sorry you are unable to do so.

  • @nigooch what are you talking about?

  • @nigooch dude, calm the fuck down

  • shame on u.p. for not putting any emds in the mix... but on the other hand horray for u.p. putting together a sick as train like that! ^^

  • I hope this train didn't come from the BNSF yards in San Bernardino. If so, I feel real sorry for all those motorists on Valley Blvd sitting there waiting for this Uncomprehendible Epicness to pass! lol

  • Oh snap! Pepper Ave! Damn, I used to live right down the street in Rialto. West Colton is so cool, it has so much going on.

  • i'll put my money on union pacific......

  • Please make no mistake, I love the trains and they will save this country

    RR'ers are great

    and as always trains win

  • Give me and our nation long trains like this anyday. I would rather have the trucks off the highways and onto steel rails in a heartbeat. The efficiency fuel and economy of scale of a train over the fleet of trucks this would take is staggering.

  • It is awesome!!! It is nearly impossibe to see freight train longer than 20 cars in my country.

  • Damn! Thats everything off the container ship! Its like seeing a 175 car container train on a HO scale model railroad layout!

  • It would suck to be at the rail crossing while this thing is passing through.

  • If that becomes common-place lots of crews are gonna lose their jobs. Nice vid though.

  • @sjtom57 this train was strictly ran to test the multiple dpu setup. it was actually a total pain in the ass so i highly doubt you'll ever see one this long from u.p. again

  • Remarkable - nothing like this in the UK. Reminded me of similar trains that I saw in Nevada, October 2009. Thanks for uploading.

  • if this continues, the trucking industry is going to be in permanent recession!! GE POWER!

  • TEST TRAIN What did i miss something how can they test a 3 mile long train and why for cajun pass are something.

  • Such a variety of power! *Rolls eyes*

I would hate to be the engineer of that train, due to train handleing reasons,,,

  • I'm suprised they didn't put a crew car behind locomotives.

  • Is this the world's longest train Are you trying to beat Australian BHP iron ore train?

  • @Gunston2008 not eve nclose, only about half.

  • Awesome video 5***** and favorite. wow 295 cars!!!!

  • Awesome video and a FAV.

  • ha that would be funney as hell! Nice video

  • it would suck if you got stuck at the crossing and had to use the bathroom really bad.

  • Call it the New Panama Canal Special, which is why this long train is required.

  • magnifique video ert train super long it's a great and very big train i love it

  • That is fricking amazing. Great video. I overslept and missed it in Arlington, Texas :-(.

  • at the rail croxxing, you could leave your car parked, go to lunch, come back it is till pulling through, go to dinner and it is just finishing up,

    RR's run the country

  • @godfrey1112000 Uh...that would be no. Trucking firms hve had way more sway with Congress since WWII. Federal statistics show one truck does the same amount of damage as roughly 9300 cars. Trucks clearly do NOT pay 9300 times what cars do. Since the 1950s trucks have gotten pretty close to a free ride relative to the damage they cause and the extra costs of engineering, building, and maintaining of highways. Railroads had to compete with subsidized competitors. RRs ARE the future.

  • @godfrey1112000 hahahaha

  • UP Tset Train 296 lds 0 x's 15498 tons18,061 ft 854 axles

    3 units + 99 cars + 2 units + 98 cars + 2 units + 99 cars + 2 units = 9 units and 296 cars

  • @heartlightseven - and 591 conteiner

  • Im too lazy to count axles, anyone have a count?

  • great video

  • would like to hear the engineer's comments on how he got this thing over Beaumont in one piece! Anybody have the "soup" on this train??

  • Not good, sorry, it's OUTSTANDING. This is one of the best wishes for whoever railfan. Perfect train, at the right moment at the right spot. Incredible distrubute power. THANK YOU.

  • Good video thanks for sharing.
