  • Far out NG has made 2697 vids

  • i dont like this narrator.

  • The coral reefs have so much beauty & complexity, we are still learning & discovering so much. Coral reefs are dieing in many parts of the world, which gives us a glimse into our oceans health.....which is grim.

The oprah show talked about a swirl of garbage, plastics, etc. that is 90 ft deep & covers an area the size of Texus...unbelivable, but the ocean continues to be polluted at an alarming rate. Poluution, oil spills, radiation is killling our oceans & sealife.

  • I went to the great barrier reef and its been the best experience in my LIFE EVER!

  • Who is narrating this? He sounds like Anton Yelchin!

  • Wonderful video!

  • I wonder how this video would sound if you swapped the music with the JAWS soundtrack.

  • Beautiful

  • ~ Since the 60's, municipal water fluoridation has used hydrofluorosilicic acid, a waste byproduct from smoke stacks of aluminum and fertilizer plants, containing 23% sodium fluoride (rat poison), mercury, arsenic, lead, barium, cadmium, palonium 20 and other trace poisons. Water filters can't remove it, regardless of their claims. And, commercial pesticides are fluorides. So, between agri-run-off and waste water, our rivers perpetually poison our oceans. The banksters are poisoning our reefs.

  • I'd love to swim there and scuba and all but if I see a shark, man forget that.

  • I dove the GBR it was amazing, I also did a shark dive in FIJI whihc had monster sharks not just reef sharks ...check it out if you want its nuts

  • Wow, this is really beautiful.......It's really sad that part of it is dying because people just don't follow the rules anymore.

  • Why do people have to talk about god on every youtube vid? O_O This is not church! For once in your life enjoy the beautiful world and quit thinking "oh god this, god did that!"

Anyway the great reef is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I would love to travel there one day and see it for myself with my fiance :) Australia<3

  • The chinese should conquer Austaila just think of all the people that could feed.

  • It is so not true that the Great Barrier Reef is the largest structure. The world's largest terrestrial biome is the taiga, also known as the boreal forest. The average width of the taiga is about 1 200 km, tops. The endless forests takes 10 % of landmasses surface (approximately 2,3 mln sq. km). So don't fool the people, that the The Reef is the largest living structure.

    this is a sick vid

  • very nice

  • How beautiful! Thank you!

  • Well, the Chinese just destroyed it....

  • @az111709 LOL :)

no they did not. There is a one kilometer long scar but the reef is far longer than that. Left alone it will repair itself in a few years.

We are lucky to have these gorgeous coral reefs still. But they are vulnerable to many other things. Among these, rising temperatures, which of course, unlike the chinese ship, is not a localized problem. I have seen a lot of damage in the red sea. On the other hand...if the reefs were really that fragile; would they still exist?

  • The Great Barrier Reef is gone now - RED CHINA

  • it has always been beautiful.. until we humans came..

  • wird dies bald alles nicht mehr sein, wieso zerstören wir unsere eigene welt ... ?

    es ist zum weinen

  • Great!!!!

  • This magnificent reef will be lost if we let Obama and Bush drilling for oil off our coast lines , these 2 crooks are willing to drill where ever they can.

  • 3:15 What is crossing the screen? A seasnake?

LOVE THE BABY TURTLES SO CUTE!!!

  • that's insane that you can extract coral from 70% of it, i feel guilty for having my reef tank now lol

  • man voice!

  • candi lizaeds picled and anaconda on rice with lama sauce hmmmmm~!!!! LETS EAT

  • I Been To The Great Barrier Reef Its Really Cool

Execpt If You Went When You Were 8

  • the GBR is only about 4200 years old

Because of the flood in the time of Noah

  • Are you freakin crazy? Read your bible! The oceans had nothing to do with Noah! It was a flood; hello! Ocean=water; flood=water! Marine life would have survived, you idiot!

  • I think you are making a terrible assumption...

The flood in the times of Noah wasnt soem tranquil flood...

The fountains of the deep broke open! this was the flood of all floods!

I think a lot of the marine life would die... hence the TONS of marine fossils we find through all the earth...

and the reefs of old would be badly damaged and have to start over, which is why the reef is only about 4200 years old...

    hmm...

  • @Specilum : Yes...and we should all believe everything we read in a book with giants, a boat large enough to fit 2 of every animal in the world in it, talking snakes, and countless contradictions. Keep your bible bashing to yourself, the scientists are talking.

...oh... i shouldn't be so rude, after all the bible is my second favourite work of fiction.

  • No it wouldn't have survived because the coral of the Great Barrier Reef can only survive in shallow waters

  • hahahahah!!!

  • Is it possible I wonder to get to the GBR from Brisbane, as a day or 2 day tour for example? I am going to Oz next year but on a tight schedule, I am only going to Brisbane and won't have time to go further north in Queensland.

  • if u flew up there, you could make it. tickets are about $100 each way. i don't think there are tours just for 2 days.stay in airlie beach or cannonvale, there right next to the snorkeling companies. if ur not close to one, they have a free bus to get to the snorkeling company

  • hey, i live in brisbane and its about a 20hr drive to the GBR or a 2hr plane trip. Try the whitsundays. There alot closer and still amzing.

    Jake.

  • @duabsy It's definitely not a 20 hour drive from Brisbane to the southern most point of the Great Barrier Reef. It's only a 5 hour drive from Brisbane to Bundaberg, where you can take a boat to Lady Elliot and Lady Musgrave Islands, both are on the Great Barrier Reef. The Whitsunday Islands are probably more beautiful, but they're quite a bit further North. Cairns is probably the best place to go via air to see the GBR.
