  • I Have to say: very great job!!

  • Wow! I'm impressed! Anyone can sing in a different, 'original' way as a cover of someone else; but very, very few can sing a true copy! I see that some of the comenters are jealous of you. They have become too old with the passage of years, and have forgotten how to grow young. I'm a bit jealous too.

  • Awesome work man. Don't listen to the commenters. Keep doing your things the way you want. If they spent the time you did on your work then they might have some videos to upload instead of trying to break your spirit. I love your stuff.

  • Great vocals, the chords are definitely messy, even if it's on purpose it sounds wrong.

  • This vid was just fine...sung well and played well...a chord here or a chord there awry...SO...it's Dylan...He never played anything the same twice...rodrigomadeira...the lad probably has a style all his own but posted HIS version of this tune as he hears and feels it...take it or leave it and if you want to hear the original version...play the f^@!%ing record...

  • Did you drink a bottle of Beaujolais before playing ?

  • no one should have curly hair apparently.. great cover dude

  • oh shit, i was listening but not watching, i thought it was dylan himself!!!!

  • I like it - visit our local pub once, it needs more guys like you.

  • Great job!

  • I will say something constructive you sound alot like Dylan and that was what I liked about this video.I play for the enjoyment and if someone else enjoys it also then that is of benefit to another joyful soul.I frankly enjoyed your video. It doesn't have to be perfect.

  • fuckin good!! I play this one on my live shows but in punk verision :P

  • Wow dude, the first comment above couldn't be less true...this is pretty great.

  • This is absolutely beautiful...I thought this was Dylan for a minute. Keep it up man.

  • Man that's great, your like dylans clone

  • Your videos are unwatchable. You have potential but you constantly play the wrong chords. You should "know your song well before you start singing".

  • @9nomni Although your reference to "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" was clever, if you listen closely, Dylan himself plays the wrong chords as well!

  • @folkhippie500 Yes Dylan 'ocasionally' plays the wrong chord but you barly get through a verse without making a mistake on this song. It's a shame because I think you're really talented but the mistakes make it hard to enjoy. Not trying to insult you, just a little constuctive critisism.

  • @9nomni I think you're being a little unkind. This chap is obviously infused with the elixir of Bob in every move, inflection, groan and movement. That's okay with me.

  • great job! you really got dylan's sound down.have to check out your other stuff

  • Great song. You played very well.

  • It seems almost impossible to find original Bob Dylan songs on youtube among the thousands of covers each song has. In your covers I have found the closest renditions of the originals. You are really great

  • i think its respectfull to the origanal artist to try an keep the trak recognisable, and u do that, also u cover some lesser knows dylan songs which is nice/b nice to hear a queen jane cover by u,by far the best dylan covers ive heard on u tube an many other places, your a breath of fresh air, thanks for posting these.

  • oh my god=o what an amazing voice. reminds me of the great dylan himself

  • Couldn't find the original but if I pretend you're not you, it's almost like listening to him. But I concur with 67 Bluebird... like Ezra Pound said, "Make it new..."

  • Great job kid. And I can call you kid because I first heard this, and so much more, when it was first played on AM radio back in the 60's. I totally appreciate, your appreciation, of the music that I grew up with, and the poetry that defined a generation. These words, and others, set the foundation of who I am, and are the DNA of the person I've become, and most likely your parents as well. Ignore your critics and keep playing from your heart. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

  • The talent is obvious, but I think your attitude to covers is unfortunate. A cover should be your own thing. If it is too faithful to the original the cover's reason to exist literally disappears.

  • Great! awesome reminds me when i first listen to a bob dylan song

    keep rocking man

  • Excellent Job. I listened to some of you other vids and other than you excellent Dylan voice, you also have a great voice for other styles.

  • You do the very best Dylan I've ever heard!!!!!!

  • Great imitation.

    Knap gedaan.

  • This is my absolute favorite Bob Dylan song (at least for the time being). Let me just say I hate Dylan covers because of the precise reason that no one can cover Dylan but Dylan. You killed it (the good way). I think I love you now.

  • That!!!!!!!!!!....

    ...was absolutely brilliant!

  • hey fat, you sings very nice!! very goog

  • Any chance you can do Desolation Row? I think you are great!

  • lol to be honest I like this cover better. I find bob dylan sounds like a bard (reminds me of porky pig playing friar tuck, in an episode of looney toons)

  • im jealous of you. teach me how to sing like that

  • Well done but you can improve and improve! Don't stop!

  • I can't help it--This song always makes me get a little teary-eyed from thinking about my younger years: Woodstock, the Vietnam war protests, the commune I lived in, friends who've died, and the current mess of a society that seems destined to repeat all the political mistakes that old hippies like me tried to fix.

But I've seen so much in my life that I can look back and happily say that I was so much older then; I'm younger than that now.

    Well done, folkhippie500.

  • it´s nice but immitative. he sounds, acts, combs, even breathes like dylan (and that is the most antidylan thing to do, because bob, proteus alike, urges to disconstruct and reinvent himself all the time. this kid has talent, but he has to develop a style of his own.

  • i do have a style of my own. look at my original material. when you cover something, you have to do it like it was made!

  • @folkhippie500 Actually, you don't have to do it like the original. Even Dylan didn't do songs he covered like the original. In any case, you do an outstanding job with this song. It sounds great! I like the Byrds version of this song too.

  • @folkhippie500 and @rodrigomadeira79 - i disagree, a cover should be interpreted how ever you want...however i think all your covers are brilliant! i dont think there is anything wrong in taking on the image of dylan at all, he is a god. especially when dylan himself took on the image of woddie gutherie..dylan's whole image and style has come from a mixture of different people's styles and persona's he came across.

  • @folkhippie500 who ever told you that about covers...i take no offence from this video. but thats a pretty crazy statement

  • @folkhippie500

thats true, i dislike when other people make covers of great songs and then making ruining the song. its sad and keeping it to the original is the best option.

  • @folkhippie500 .....couldnt agree with you more on the topic of covers. if your a cover artist the point is to sound just like the original.

  • @folkhippie500

I do not agree, cover is your own version of a song, exact copy would be done in the way it was made ; )

  • @folkhippie500 Can you tell us the strumming patterns you use, and if so the chords

  • @rodrigomadeira79

Actually Bob imitated Ramblin' Jack and Woody Guthrie on his first couple of records so why shouldn't this guy do the same thing since it worked at rather ok for Bob. Face! Great job with the song by the way.

  • @rodrigomadeira79 I disagree sir, it's a brilliant tribute. . Dylan himself was a fraud anyway. Don't be such snob.

  • @rodrigomadeira79 Dylan started as a Woody Guthrie clone, so lay off bud.

  • @rodrigomadeira79 I agree- It's very well done, but now he needs to make the cover into his own!

  • @rodrigomadeira79 If dylan is disconstructing all the time, maybe this kid could be like dylan in like 1973 or something. And whats the point about saying that his a copy of dylan then?

  • @rodrigomadeira79 how do you know how Dylan combed his hair? Dylan mimicked Woody Guthrie in his early days. Maybe this man really idolizes Dylans work like I do. cheers. keep it up!

  • I disagree. Lets balance the scale in truth. The voice has some technical merit but it just goes to show all those people who criticize dylan for having no voice, WRONG, dylans voice is superb and so is his delivery. This gentlemans covers are not even 1/50 of dylan. Which just goes to show how wonderful a gift dylan is. No offense meant, thats how i feel , thats how i have to call it. Good effort though.

  • @oerasecj I disagree. This guy does an outstanding job with this song. In fact, I actually like it better than Dylan's version. I think you are just judging him with the idea that Dylan is perfect and anyone else isn't. You have to judge each separately.

  • @oerasecj It sounds like you have an infatuation with Dylan but that's OK. But it also seems apparent that you define Dylan as being perfection and anyone who performs one of his songs differently is, by your definition, not good. Dylan is Dylan. This guy is who he is. Your comment that this guy's covers "are not even 1/50th of dylan" is beyond absurd. And I don't see how this, in any way, "goes to show how all those people who criticize dylan....". That makes no sense at all.

  • Wow , I can only give you 5 stars. You deserve more than that. You sound so much like Dylan , I wonder if he could tell the difference!!!

  • @namnoiz I totally agree with you. This guy is good!

  • Awesome!

  • Oh my god, this is so lovely to listen to.

  • many thanks!

  • Just discovered you on here - what can I say that hasn't already been said - voice, guitar and harp - great, absolutely great! So nice to see younger folks into this type of music. What other covers do you do - John Prine maybe?

Any originals? Love to hear them if you do.

  • Very Great cover

  • impressive!!!

  • Brilliant man.

  • I can close my eyes and see you in the basement of Big Pink!!

  • mindblowing.

  • Best cover

  • i think that is like bob dylan . i think that i listen now to bob dylan ==) god voice brother

  • Good Dylan cover. You voice is right on.

  • Man, you've blasted me back some years with this! You sound just like Dylan here. I desperately want to be this good, if only so I can upload my own Dylan covers.

Play on, folkhippe500. Our world needs this, now more than ever.

  • BRAVO

  • Its nice to see people my age playing Dylan songs..good job man i really dig the cover

  • Great stuff mate; nice filing cabinet too.

  • I listen to a lot of covers of various folk artists who cover Dylan, Baez, Donovan, etc but most people are not that good, some are ok & a few occasionaly are good, but you are great!! I was listening to a recent CD of Dylan. His voice is just not that good anymore & I have been a fan of his music for a long time. I think he's about 69 now & of course with age..the singing voice does change. I have to tell you I hope you continue to play Dylan. You really sound like him when he was young!

  • thank you so much. it means a lot <3

  • @folkmusicgirl yes this is so good

  • wow. just wow

  • dude, sweet dude

  • Excellent Dylan cover. 5*

  • Great job sounds just like Dylan

  • Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Unique. Aren't you playing it slightly different chord-wise by the way? 'missing' a C in the first verse f-g-c .. get it? nvm:) awesome, just awesome!

  • Absolutely spectacular. You need to get a record deal.

  • good job.

  • Sup dude. I know this vid is old but I watched most of your vids and they are pretty awesome! You are really good at this man. I hope you make more songs and do more covers because you are one of the best Dylan coverers (word?) that I've seen on youtube! Keep it up!

  • its good to know that someone will carry on bob dylan's legacy, because he is getting up in years.

he'll probably never die, just the same.

  • magnificent song

    and

    you sound just like dylan

  • Wow, that's a killer one buddy. I loved it verry much. Keep going on that way. I have a little request if your mind is out of idea, plz try "Girl From The North Country" !!!*****

    Steeve

  • Dude, you are a dead ringer for Dylan! Do a tribute show and go on tour. I mean it!

  • oh i would so love to! you have no idea!

  • HOLY SHIT...great job.

  • amazing once again, you should try stuck inside of mobile with the memphis blues again, I think you could really nail that one, keep the videos coming.

  • sweet cover dude!!! Sometimes when I'm reading the comments I could swear its actually Dylan himself singing. Great Job!!!!!

  • Good! Very authentic, in fact...

    mainly the strumming style

  • how do you sing like this?

i can't sing, but i have to know how

  • WOW WOW WOW!!! Your voice sometimes sound exactly like Dylan's! love your guitar playing too! Congratulations, man. Could you please send me the tab of it? Thanks.

  • Great cover good voice

    Loved it.

  • Great vocal, just lay back on the Dylan thing and be yourself and learn the actual guitar part to the song, and practice the guitar part to a click and get your meter down, its off quite a bit. But your voice is fantastic although you're going to be accused of copying Dylan, so just don't try to be so "Dylany" cuz your natural voice is extremely good bro. I loved this. I also suggest a thinner pick. You're a natural talent, very impressive.

  • Well done dude!!! Just great!

  • wow you sound just like a young bob dylan.

  • why thank you!

  • Wooooow,

your voice is like the voice of bob!

    Great,

    greetings from Germany,

    Adrian =)

  • Really great. I appreciate you sharing this great music. You are an artsit. Jim

  • Yes I have listened to them all. This is still my fav!

  • why thank you quite tremendously! :)

  • One word...awesome! I was in total amazement throughout. I don't want to freak you out but, you made that song your beeoch man! Very impressive, and just to let you know this is the one and only comment I have ever left anyone ; most are just not worth the time. You are not only worth the time but even another listen. OK I am now starting to freak myself out! Later

  • shoot, man. i appreciate that a lot! wow! thank you so much. it seems like quite an honour, i am glad to be your only comment. thanks for listening. have you checked out the other ones?

  • i havnt heard too many cover of dylan but this is by far the best ive heard

you manage to give the same emotion that dylan uses while using a beautiful singing voice

i thought the only way his songs could bring out the same meaning was with his sand paper like peraching but you proved me wrong

also you sing the song with the same passion as some one who wrote the lyrics

all in all really really well done

  • I have the same martin 000- if only bob could have sung as well as you...he just croaks now days.

he must have had some interesting smoke to have conjured up those lyrics.." in a soldier's stance I aimed my hand..."

  • it's actually a 00-15, the closet i could find to dylan's original 00-17.

ya, i hear you. he's a wordsmith from bygone days...

  • gives me an idea of he might have sung it live back then!?! nice one man

  • You're better than Dylan when he does Dylan and I'm not joking

  • Have you ever considered doing "American Idol"?. It might not be your cup of tea, but you'd be a breath of fresh air, which I'd love to watch. Even though Dylan would be too long and wordy to sing, your voice would be capturing nevertheless.

  • great job

  • They say 'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'.

    Very well done, my friend.

  • You are a good musician. But you must sing in your own way, not like Bob Dylan. Look at the videos on Youtube of Fretkillr.

    Thank You

  • I'm all for making a song one's own, and, hell, a lot of Bob's could use some help in the vocals department, but most the covers I've seen of this completely lose the mood and the message - sort of like Hanson would sound doing Masters of War. Anyway, excellent cover folkhippie.

  • very good- you sound better than bob. Maybe do a dylon tour.thx for the effort

  • Wow, great cover, you really do Dylan wonderful!
