This movie reminds me of The Big Blind (search: Scotty Nguyen buys a pack) complete with the token asian real life celeb. The big blind was hyped to the poker community and was a total bust, but a couple unknown actors launched relatively successful careers in it.

As for pool coverage it is beyond awful. You can't have boring personalities on the felt AND the mic. Poker was awful until the WPT made a professional effort at production.

If the trailer is anything like the movie, then we all know where to go next time insomnia kicks in.

A documentary on the WPBA players would have been better. Your television coverage kind of seriously sucks too though,, makes pool as boring as golf and hasn't improved style wise since the dawn of television.

That's all Dawn Hopkins lets us see any more, unless you're into trick shots--dreadfully slow and cautious women. They need to televise money games in bars with fat backers arguing and talking shit, hustlers shooting out the lights --not friggin alternate breaks to keep runs down and the slow ass likes of Karen Corr. They've taken one of the most interesting things out of the sport--the sleaze.

Televised pool has, in recent years, centered solely on the dreadfully slow and cautious women players. The only time you see men is in trick shot competition. Yes, Gurd, Jeanette Lee needs to take the last 2 (along with acting lessons) from some 30th ranked male to bring her down a few pegs. For one thing they try to take the sleeze out of pool--sleeze MAKES pool--it was the best part of the Hustler and Color of Money (which didn't impress me--too unrealistic).

i dont think that it is that easy to get on the pro tour. I am not talking as if i am not good enough, cuz i know i am. I play 6 hrs a day. Sad fact....there is no APA in my area and i can't afford to travel....Must be nice to have all the connections. I would in fact love to see a move about fats, mosconi,,,Johnson City, IL....when it was the hot spot for all the hustlers in the nation to go, but maybe in a more modern setting.

this movie is gonna suck balls. straight to dvd. I wish i had the opportunity to meet a movie director and show him the book hustler days, minnesota fats wimpy lassiter and jersey red. the greatest pool hustlers and players of the great era of pool. its got comedy drama characters and just a beautiful story that needs to be told. if made right with good actors and producers the movie would be a hit and it would bring back pool into the main stream again.
