  • "I've summoned up a terrible acne. I've somehow managed to avoid puberty..."

  • This shit is hilarious. A+ WOTC.

  • MTG its like a blender for your money, and every year it gets cleaned out so you have to fill it up again

  • @slammarbyhammer Tell that to my buddy, he had an all expense paid trip to Hawaii for a tournament.

  • @KNDReaper wooo, you get to spend that money on cards instead of paying for the trip! oh and next year, the cards are worthless!!!!!!

  • @slammarbyhammer Oh? well, first of all, they dont become worthless, some of them stay up there in price for a very long time, Black Lotus for example came out when the game started, and Ive seen some go for over 10K on Ebay. And Second, as long as I can play with them in a none standard format, then they are not worthless. Is a movie or a Video game worthless after a year? No, they still have value to the consumer. Same thing applys to these cards.

  • @KNDReaper Dude I used to be hardcore into the game, non standard format means nothing because there is always stronger cards than the ones coming out, and black lotus is expensive because its the only card in the games history that is that powerful. How long have you been playing the game? trust me give it 3 or four more years and you'll get tired of putting up hundreds of dollars each time a new set comes out, just to realize that the deck you have still isn't good enough.

  • @slammarbyhammer Anyone who has to spend 100 dollars to make a winning deck needs to ask for help.

  • @KNDReaper As does anyone who spends their time arguing on YouTube about a card game! Good lord! It's just a game for people to play in their spare time and a nice collection. And I mean this towards both of you. I read through this page and didn't bother going any further to see if there was more because I literally got bored listening to you two argue within seconds. That's like the people who do play, that bitch about some new mechanic WotC comes out with, get over it! JEEZE!

  • like the commercial but dnt like the slogan saying here i rule sounds like yea i kik ass here but anywhere else i suk

  • It's shit like this that gives MTG players a bad name. It makes us seem like we are arrogant assholes that don't succeed, other than in a card game.

Yes, it is trying. I think what they need to do is get maybe a kinda cool 16-25 yr old celebrity to sponser it... Like have the skinny kid from superbad (hes like a funny cool nerd) somthin idk

  • Love the game. Hate the ad slogan. sounds too much like "anywhere else, I don't rule."

And this commercial goes the wrong way too. Makes you hate the guy. he's a total chode. obviously plays a counter deck like a fool.

  • @Kryptnyt "Here I rule! ...everywhere else I'm a 30 year old virgin who lives in my parents' basement."

    MAKE IT SO!

  • and this is why Uber-Right wings think it's satanic

  • no twitch...

    uhm... what about twitch...?

  • It's so cool.

  • The "Join us" bit makes me shudder...

  • @crm339 Φ

  • @altF4ninja i support the mirran resistance

  • Here we all rule!

  • Cool ad!

  • wow, nice commercial.

They really do make the nerdy aspect of magic look badass. I approve :)

  • You didn't like Time Spiral? I thought that was the best block.

  • @Axelvario What do you mean?

  • COOL!!!!!

  • If it weren't for the nerdy sounding voice, it would RAWK

  • Difference between this game and all the other card games is about 5000 cards more or so. That, and the fact the cards aren't made cartoonish for the kiddies.

Well, not all of them at least. Saw a goblin card that was pretty cute. lol

  • @BryanX83 I currently play Magic now, but I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh, and... I liked the cute cards. -_-

  • Yo, can anyone tell me what is the song in the background? thanx.

  • Id like to know the artist of this advert. I really like the animation style of this one!

btw what ist magic the gathering? :P

  • This advert is cool! It's fresh, although I think the voice actor sounds a little sleepy/lame. But other than that I think this is nice :)

  • this actually seems pretty well-made. For people who are unfamiliar with the game, it would get my interest. Not everybody is into the fantasy role playing thing but a lot of people can appreciate a good strategic card game.

  • MAGIC FOREVER!!!!!!

  • what's with the PSP??? I've read nothing about a Magic for Playstation portable

  • the psp is shown during the part that says," there is no twitch, no reflex that can save you from my mind" that is to show that magic isn't the kind of game where you just randomly press buttons.

  • also, to all those who thinks this game is for retards and yu-gi-oh retards, there is a MONUMENT to magic the gathering. i bet yu-gi-oh doesnt even have a pro-tour

  • whats the monument?

  • the pro tour he mentioned

  • GaeasBlessing, the reason they had a 17 use the voice, is becuase they wanted the mature people THEY KNOW will play this game if they see it. Its just ment to relate to teenagers

  • OMG, I play magic since 10 years, I like magic, but this advertisment is really stupid, they should mention the huge tacical possibilities, the background or the perfect rules who are so complex, that you could play against thousands of people with different good decks. But what they did was to let magic look like a game for preschool kids.

  • Oh please, SHUT THE HELL UP ALL YOU HATERS! Although I haven't played MTG, even I will admit the fact that it is the BEST TCG there is. It's what inspired and influenced every other one. And besides, so what if it seems like it's marketed for losers and kids. AT LEAST THEY'LL BE EXPANDING THEIR FANBASE! And to what Darklurkr said, at least thinking you're a wizard is A LOT better than thinking you're a Pokemon trainer.

    P.S. The song rocks!

  • guyes stfu MTG is an awesom game! its not some yu-gi-oh crap. many coo ppl play this game like my bro and me. and like there no little kids that play this cuz there all noobs with pokemon and yu-gi-oh games.the monsters arent stupid pink dragons or some dumshit pink pandas. my point is MTG is awesom when u get the hang of it. oh yeah guess what! im 12 and i play with my bro a lot and hes 18.

  • It feels like this advertisement is marketed toward total losers. People who fail everywhere else in life can be like, *super nerd voice* "Here, I rule!" *adjusts nerd glasses*. Why don't you just start an ad campaign: "Magic the Gathering, it's for losers!" xD Another epic fail for MtG marketing dept, lol.

  • i get the feeling that with this ad many little kids are going to start playing cause "it's cool to play with dragons".But they wont understand the epicness of either the game or the fantasy setting.I tottaly dislike the ad :(

  • Well, even if little kids start playing, as soon as they get crushed by the decent, older set, who actually know how to play, they'll probably give up. Either that, or learn how to play well, and then there won't be a problem.

  • This sucks. This makes me feel like i'm playing a game marketed for little kids. GG Wizards.

  • What in the blue hell is this?

  • What in the white, black, red, and green hells is this?

  • i lol'd

  • Yea definitely epic fail. This isn't going to bring a non-nerd into the game at all. Why can't a commercial just be bits and pieces of the "play the game" advertisement. That was like the best ever. Magic's #1 downfall is that people think everyone who plays it actually thinks they're a wizard.

  • "I almost want to quit magic just because of it. "

Its an advert, get over yourself. Actually quit, why would anyone want to play with some who gets so worked up over an advert.

  • This is horrible. I almost want to quit magic just because of it. Who the hell puts some emo preteen as the speaker. And the cartoonish graphics have absolutely no similarity to magic, nor is any of the good artwork of magic portrayed in this commercial.

Epic fail. Spend the advertising money somewhere else.

  • Well said.

  • This

  • u see this on tv? NO. Have you seen the old comertials? Like the 90's ones? those were funny, the new millenium ones suck. this is an improvement from what they have been doing.

  • <_< Really? What the.......

  • they really do need to make some new magic comercials. I liked this one. I look forward to future ones.

  • i liked the old magic the gathering commercials with the scientists and the orgg....those were the best.

  • Ha, I remember those. They were awesome.

  • EPOCH FAIL

    Yes, Epoch.

What is this, YuGiOh? Will we have rapping Elves as our ad next? Seriously.

If we want ads, let's let them be at least good or a self-parody.

  • One thing I like is that they're giving out free decks on the site. So at least they're trying to get cards into kids hands so they can play. I just signed up for mine so I'll see what "arsenal" of spells it has in about 4-6 weeks.

  • The crappy marketing decisions (like this one) seem to have sprung up ever since hasbro had the really bad financial news come out and they stuck their hands further into WotC's operations. I'm fairly certain these are more due to hasbro than to wotc's staff, but that's the way it goes.

  • wow, i hope my friends never see this. they'll make so much fun of me (more than they do anyway) for playing magic

  • that is awsome

  • This kid embodies the negative stereotype the general public has of magic players. "OMG U GUISE, HERE I RULE LOL"

As I listened to him speak I envisioned the arrogant nerd who thinks he is cool because he has a level 99 Final Fantasy user. You can tell he got beat up constantly in high school, and with good reason. Hell, I want to kick his ass myself just listening to this garbage ad.

Cool animation though, to give credit where it is due.

  • You do know the speaker was prob paid to do it?..

  • Yeah, that's the whole point of my criticism. They should have A) found a better ad campaign to begin with and B) found a better voice actor.

I'm not saying I could do a better job personally. But then again, it's not my job.

  • that was a total wast od ad dollars great job hasbro

  • Ok, this is ok but your borderlining on being a copycat. Please don't sell out to the Yu-Gi-Oh! players, please! And please don't sell out to the "OMFGZ! It's anime! Desu Awata" Japanophiles either! *cries* Can nothing stay pure and sacred anymore? I feel like I'm starting to lose everything I loved to them, it's not fair :(

  • Another bad judgement call on WotC's part. Ugh.

  • its not WotC its hasbro

  • @effovex Actually, this is probably the least corniest of their ads. It's a step in the right direction from what they started with.

  • ...

    it's kinda corny...

  • wow wtf so all this rumors about magic being satanic is true.

  • And yet another lame MtG ad that will make parents think the cards' ink has drugs.

    Go team!

  • Jaja, usted no solo aprece en todas partes sino que siempre hace los mejores comentarios...

Hey, the point is to draw newbs to the game... and I think they use the appeal quite well if you ask me...

  • While not outstandingly amazing in general, it is in comparison to the previous ads wotc has run. Perhaps we're moving in the right direction? When I explain the game I tell them it's basically a mix between chess and poker, not "MYTHICAL BEASTIES FLYING AND SHOOTING FIRE LAZER BEAMS!!! AWESOME PLANESWALKERS WITH MAGICAL POWERS!!!"

  • if you tack a closser look they flash whe i expet to be a set simbile .

  • Is this serious?
