thats fantastic you like other bands, and I think that having a variety of good music to listen to is very healthy. I like some "heavy" bands, such as Iron maiden and some Metallica and Judas priest. Just I don't feel listening to the band Slipknot or Megadeath are healthy at all. When I listen to bands songs, or look at their song names or read anything about them it always gives me the feeling they are celebrating death, pain or just negativity.

post 2: I think that you could say the same for a band like Nirvana where a lot of their songs are Negative but its the way they use the negative emotions in the song, trying to figure out whats really wrong, why its wrong and so on. "I love myself better than you, I know its wrong but what should I do?" - on a plane by Nirvana. its the way that the band has acknowledged the thought or way of thinking is wrong. where as a slipknot song like all hope is gone....

I'm not gonna try to defend a band I'm not that into so hard, but seriously in the metal world groove is hard to come by.

Bands like Throwdown (who I like their older stuff) try to rip off Sepultura and Pantera, but don't do anything cool or original.

Slipknot has this uncanny ability to take a fucking VERSE riff and make it groovy yet still heavy usually thats reserved for the chorus/breakdown.

Now if we're talking funk groove Hendrixs new version of "Bleeding Heart" rules
