ive been playing SH for since i can remember and pyramid head has always been the most terrifying (my aunt used to call him bathtub head cause it looked like a bathtub on his head in SH2) and when i got to this part of the game with PH i was like O.O screw this im done playin this game XD

I'm going to assume the idea is the same as it was in the movie - while SH2's use of it represents James' personal desire for self-punishment, in the other games, it symbolizes a general form of "justice," as the executioner is, above all things, the final say in a life and a crime.

I guess what IGN was most concerned with was that the previous Silent Hills were more about pscyological terror and try to make it as life like as possible. ie: no action buttons, no visible health bar, or no visible check points etc. Instead that made it more into an action game which is more like Resident Evil style of gamplay which works fine for the RE series, but not necesarily for the Silent Hill series, but this is all just personal opinoin.
I feel tha pain with you :P Man i REALLY hated when capcom did that to resident evil.. It all began when RE4 was released but all other resident evil games where AWSOME. Like CV:X (wich will always be my favourite)

Alex was never in the military. After he killed his kid brother he went insane and ended up in a mental hospital. That's why you're in a hospital in the beginning of the game.
But same company does not matter according to you as long as the game has the konami logo on it it's canon am i wrong cause that's what you said in your last post pluse pyramid head is only in one game and thats two he was not in one three four or origins
Then how do you explain all of the discrepancies between the two and just because it says silent hill and it has the konami logo on it does not make it canon metal gear acid had the konami logo on it does it make it canon to the metal gear story no it does not
Sides, Metal Gear Acid is an entirely different storyline AND Konami SAID it's not Canon.
They'll tell you if its not canon. Sides, their comics and novels for MGS are canon, although they're based off the games.
Plus, Pyramid head has technically been in all but 2 games of Silent Hill. He just looks different. Matter of fact I'm suspecting there's more to his meaning then we're catching on to.
They don't always mention a character in a previous game before introducing him. They never mentioned Travis Grady before Homecoming and 0rigins now did they?
Plus, I know Konami's licensing policies because I'm trying to get a novel published.
They're just like Bungie and Halo. They won't allow it to be published unless they want it in their storyline.
The only reason why they allowed the Movie to have the plot that it did is the same reason why Capcom let Paul Anderson make the RE movies how he did. If it was based 100% off the game, then 75% of the people watching would know too much about what's going on, and the sales wouldn't be as good.
In short. If Konami has published it with the Silent Hill title and Konami logo, which is clearly on each cover of the comics and my omnibus, It's Canon.
Also While the catalyst for the town's increase in power in the video games was when Alessa was impregnated with Incubus by her mother, Dahlia, when she was seven, in 'Silent Hill: Hunger' the catalyst for the comic book Silent Hill is a young woman who is forcibly impregnated by Whately and a Doctor who worked at Brookhaven This has led many Silent Hill fans to consider the Silent Hill in the comic books existing in a different fictional universe than the Silent Hill of the video games
I don't think so their are a lot of discrepancies between the game and comics like In "The Grinning Man", the Lakeview Hotel is actually not on Toluca Lake at all, as opposed to the Lakeview Hotel from Silent Hill 2 The introduction of several characters who are extremely important to the universe of the comic books (Whately, Dr. Abernathy, Christabella, Laura, etc) yet are not mentioned once in any of the games
IF that where the case, the real 1 would be the Flat tipped Red Pyramid from Sh2. Seeing how he was first. There were 2 of him at the end of the game. in 1 of the Endings in SH 0rigins they hint Travis would be turned into one. There's 3 PH's in Homecoming, including Alex. And again, the comics. Which are Canon due to them being produced by Konami, which has to be approved by Team Silent.

I was very excited that he was one in the movie and two, in the new (this) silent hill but, I think they're going to play his part WAY too much, i don't know, i JUST got the game so I guess I'll find out by playing... I really hope i'm not right.
I can now honestly say that in addition to the Silent Hill movie being poorly acted, containing story from the terrible comic books, and including pyramid head, the movie has RUINED the future of the silent hill series. It seems the new developers (SH0 and SH5) are too stuck on being consistent with the movie to create anything new. Pyramid head again? that stupid butcher from sh0? those enemies that are obviously based off of the acid spitting enemies from silent hill 2? it is really a shame.
wooh, as i die har silent hill fan, the movie wasn't that bad, the ending blew ass though, anyway, pyramid head is a great character for this game. He builds off more of the suspense factor, as in the hotel when you can hear his footsteps and blade scratching the floor. he has an overall purpose in the game, so play it and then judge.

If you were a true silent hill fan you would know that Samaels will manifestates by the subconcies of the persons who enters in his area of accion (silent hill and soroundings) thats why every one see diferents things BUT samaels will can save manifestations he thinks may be usefull and remanifestate them. Samael is using Pyramid Head for some reason. You should check more how Samaels will work upon town.
Actually, my fellow "true silent hill fan" "Samael" was a ruse Dahlia used to mislead Harry and get her revenge. It was just a demon sealed in the fluros. The so called "gods" of the order's religion are Lobsel Vith, Xuchulipaba, and Valtiel.
no one can really say.. nothing is exact in SH... Samael is the god who created the gods to lead the people too her those gods are including the yellow god Lobsel Vith and the red god Xuchilbara their are also many reasons to believe that Valtiel is Xuchilbara and Red Pyramid... Who really knows

I'm currently on chapter 11 of 12 and I have yet to see him again. I'm thinking he just makes a brief appearance to kinda give a nod to Silent Hill 2 (although he looks more like Pyramid Head from the movie than from Silent Hill 2). I must say, when I was playing the hotel part in Homecoming, when I saw him walk by I about shit myself lol. I was totally not expecting to see him in this game.

If he represented anything at all (like all the creatures of Silent Hill do), the creators could of easily designed something new.

Alex was never in the military. After he killed his kid brother he went insane and ended up in a mental hospital. That's why you're in a hospital in the beginning of the game.

Different Team developers. Different franchise.
Sides, Metal Gear Acid is an entirely different storyline AND Konami SAID it's not Canon.
They'll tell you if its not canon. Sides, their comics and novels for MGS are canon, although they're based off the games.
Plus, Pyramid head has technically been in all but 2 games of Silent Hill. He just looks different. Matter of fact I'm suspecting there's more to his meaning then we're catching on to.

They don't always mention a character in a previous game before introducing him. They never mentioned Travis Grady before Homecoming and 0rigins now did they?
Plus, I know Konami's licensing policies because I'm trying to get a novel published.
They're just like Bungie and Halo. They won't allow it to be published unless they want it in their storyline.

The only reason why they allowed the Movie to have the plot that it did is the same reason why Capcom let Paul Anderson make the RE movies how he did. If it was based 100% off the game, then 75% of the people watching would know too much about what's going on, and the sales wouldn't be as good.
In short. If Konami has published it with the Silent Hill title and Konami logo, which is clearly on each cover of the comics and my omnibus, It's Canon.

I don't think so their are a lot of discrepancies between the game and comics like In "The Grinning Man", the Lakeview Hotel is actually not on Toluca Lake at all, as opposed to the Lakeview Hotel from Silent Hill 2 The introduction of several characters who are extremely important to the universe of the comic books (Whately, Dr. Abernathy, Christabella, Laura, etc) yet are not mentioned once in any of the games

IF that where the case, the real 1 would be the Flat tipped Red Pyramid from Sh2. Seeing how he was first. There were 2 of him at the end of the game. in 1 of the Endings in SH 0rigins they hint Travis would be turned into one. There's 3 PH's in Homecoming, including Alex. And again, the comics. Which are Canon due to them being produced by Konami, which has to be approved by Team Silent.

I can now honestly say that in addition to the Silent Hill movie being poorly acted, containing story from the terrible comic books, and including pyramid head, the movie has RUINED the future of the silent hill series. It seems the new developers (SH0 and SH5) are too stuck on being consistent with the movie to create anything new. Pyramid head again? that stupid butcher from sh0? those enemies that are obviously based off of the acid spitting enemies from silent hill 2? it is really a shame.

wooh, as i die har silent hill fan, the movie wasn't that bad, the ending blew ass though, anyway, pyramid head is a great character for this game. He builds off more of the suspense factor, as in the hotel when you can hear his footsteps and blade scratching the floor. he has an overall purpose in the game, so play it and then judge.

If you were a true silent hill fan you would know that Samaels will manifestates by the subconcies of the persons who enters in his area of accion (silent hill and soroundings) thats why every one see diferents things BUT samaels will can save manifestations he thinks may be usefull and remanifestate them. Samael is using Pyramid Head for some reason. You should check more how Samaels will work upon town.

I'm currently on chapter 11 of 12 and I have yet to see him again. I'm thinking he just makes a brief appearance to kinda give a nod to Silent Hill 2 (although he looks more like Pyramid Head from the movie than from Silent Hill 2). I must say, when I was playing the hotel part in Homecoming, when I saw him walk by I about shit myself lol. I was totally not expecting to see him in this game.

Hmm...PH changes for everyone (like, the embodiment of thier guilt, and therefore mimics thier personall expieriances) so because the main guy was in the army, and would have at some point used a Rambo-style combat knife (with serations on the top) do you think thats why PH's new knife looks like a combat knife? army conections? i probably havnt worded that well, but you get the picture lol =D
