The difference between "балакают" и "говорят" is just very small natural difference between dialects of the Russian Language. The same difference you can find in any place of the world, sometimes even in two villages located in 50 km from each other.

Kazaks are Russians. But they are not peasants, they are kazaks. That means they are different 'soslovie' . Exactly like there were merchants, peasants, priests, дворяне, разночинцы etc That is it and nothing more.

The difference in culture and traditions of Don Cossacks with that from Ural Cossack is larger then with peasants close to Don. Actually, the nuclei is the same between all of them and it is easy to see. That is why it is the same nation. Difference between two states of the USA is much much larger, for example.

And the difference in culture and traditions between factory workers and university professors is much larger. Does it mean that they are not the unit nation?

Cossacks, as a part of Russian nation, was always ruled by Russian monarchs. They have some benefits and duties as a different "soslovie" . And it was absolutely natural for the Russian Empire, there was several "soslovie" with different rules and duties.

Просто из моего опыта. Я понимаю 99.9% речи Кубанских казаков. Это, возможно, как разница между немецким в Берлине и Дрездене. И не сравнимо к примеру с разницей между Берлином и Баварией. При этом, точно такая же небольшая разница будет между Донским и Кубанским казачеством. Шолохов, донской казак, - знаменитый советский писатель, который получил Нобелевскую премию много писал о казаках.
