I see WiTricity mentioning charging EV's as an application. Why not power them directly (wireless) eliminating the huge expense and wasteful mass of batteries of EV's.Have WiTricity enabled highways,Interstates and eventually city streets.Current EV's could be retrofitted with this and perhaps still will need batteries because it would take decades to modify all vehicle traveled roads.Lets call these vehicles WEV's (Wireless Electric Vehicles) or WPEV's (Wireless Powered Electric Vehicles).
@Megadeth6633 A changing magnetic field induces a current per Faraday's Law of Induction. The Earth's outer core is molten iron that flows and thus causes a changing magnetic field and hence a changing magnetic flux.
The only problem I think is that it's changing too slow to be worth capturing.
I can't answer your questions directly but I heard that a study proves that induction cookers are very dangerous om pregnant Women!
And to your second question: Of corse it will consume electricity! even your wired charger without a consumer (example phone) will consume a low amount of electricity
Would nice to wire the entire house :)

My question is : if the Earth is also a magnetic field, can we get free energy from the Earth?

@noobmaster31 the magnetic field isn't a source of energy, it's a what helps transfer the source to the receiver
