Pete I have a question!!!! is the singer from PULSE the same singer from Third Power??? he looks and sounds just like him.. btw u´re the man!!!!! I love all this compilation of urs!!! makes me wanna cry for not been born in that era,, shame shame shame..... I´d have love to marry any one of these guys cause of that enormous talent of theirs,,,, this is true psychedelia
@Fetusluxan Yeah, they might sound similar but there are two different guys, Jem Targal is the singer of Third Power, he did some solo recordings later on, but I have not heard any of them, the singer of Pulse was Carl Donell, dont know anything about him, dont think he appeared on any album before or after Pulse, but I cound be wrong..
wow i love you man this is like a breath of fresh air.im an artist tha makes visual art about this music and after my ivy league educaton the art world turned its back on me because the word psychedelic is a plague in the over intellectualized conceptual art world .I still think there is a place for rock and roll in the art world.anyways the time you took to make this video is understood and it keeps me motivted to keep workin.keep truckin..my name is rico adventura contact me on facebook
@dyvelsten hahah true that guy is a dumbass this list is great. I like the version of Evil Woman i think it replaced the Canned Heat version as my favorite cover of the song
These underground perfect songs are the light of my heart.... the unike style of music that has ever existed in life,, ur collection is a treasure chest,,
this is the pure legend.... we got these tunes for eternity
as long as there's heavy psychedelic there's also life and hope (to live with joy for something that's really worth living for)
Damn, those are some deep cuts! I hadnt heard of any of those, except for Frijid Pink and Love, but I liked what I was hearing! I cant wait to hear more!
You have excellent tase in music. I envy your record collection. You are the only person I have a sub to, for good reason. How long have you been collecting?
@cybolt : according to wwworiginalsbe, the first recorded version was by a guy called Guy Darrell on the Piccadilly label. No, I never heard of him either...
Is Blue Cheer to "mainstream" because they had one number 11 hit? is there any blue cheer on these vids? Cuz they were probably the heaviest of the late 60s psychadelic bands
@happywarmgun13 Actually I had a Blue cheer track (fruits and iceberg) on the original list, but due to copyright reasons I was forced to lift them off the list, but I agree 100% with you, they had deserved to be represented here.
@dyvelsten oh ya. Damn WMG. But i love the list anyway. the 10-1 list was awesome i didn't think anyone else had ever heard of Morgen. nice list. 5 stars
I always thought Spooky Tooth originated "Evil Woman." Now I hear Yesterday's Children doing it, and I'm wondering who covered who? Find out BOTH YC and Spooky Two came out in 69 and no one for either band wrote the song... it was written by Larry Weiss, quite a terrific writer (Bend Me, Shape Me).
Further, Weiss gave the song to Canned Heat and near as I can tell, THEY did it first, in 1968 on their "Boogie w/Canned Heat" album.
Like I have commented in your other videos I am truly amazed at the music collection you have. I wonder how long it would take to listen to your entire catelog of music. Anyway, thanks for putting together this countdown.
@dyvelsten Is it possible to get a full list of the bands and/or songs shown in this video? Would love to know so that I can pick up the vinyl one day. Of course, the artwork will probably catch my eye too.
The spooky tooth cover song is NOT the best song on the Yesterdays children LP.
In my humble opinion it's their own song She's Easy.
Haystacks Balboa is probably the BEST "satanic rock" LP ever. On the other hand: Frijid Pink is probably the WORST (overrated) of all the good Detroit bands from the sixties.
I can agree with you about Yesterdays Children, there are some tracks on that album I like more than Evil Woman to, sure! The doomy Hunters Moon for example, but what is wrong with Frijid Pink? I think their 2 first Lps are some of the dirtiest and roughest (in a positive way) ever to emerge from Detroit! Of course there are some lame tracks in between, but tell me what Detroit album is 100% great from start to finish?
I once made myself a Detroit sixtiepunk compilation and had a real hard time to pick a Frijid Pink track. Somehow Frijid Pink is not psych enough but nevertheless also not hard enough for my ears. I ended up choosing "End Of The Line" from the first album.
My favourite Detroit albums is: Funkadelic - What's Funkadelic (1970) Bob Seger System - (First album 1969) SRC (Scot Richard Case) - (First album1968) The Third Power - Believe (1969) Grand Funk - E Plurius Funk (1971) Frost - Through The Eyes Of love (1970) Cactus - Retrictions (1972) (NY/Detroit) ...and of course the masterpieces: Stooges - First album (1969) and Funhouse (1970) MC5 - (First album live 1969)
Nice list, I'd have to go with "Maggot Brain" with Funkadelic, love the Bob Seger System "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", how about Mongrel as well? And no question, the debut Stooges & "Funhouse", along with "Raw Power", & the first MC5 are all essential!!! Since were talking Detroit, I've got to throw in (I know, this is later stuff, but what the hell), The White Stripes- "Elephant"!!
Well now, I happen to like B.S., how can you not like 'ol Cub Koda?? And I never thought of Frijid Pink's cover of "House Of The Rising Sun" as being in any way "plain"! But I probably like a bunch of the other tunes on Frijid's debut more than the Rising Sun cover!!
Aw, man, another excellent installment of GREAT heavy American psych! Starting off with a great overlooked band from my hometown Cincinnati, Ohio; Yesterday's Children. Great album! You should check out another great Cincy psych band Sacred Mushroom. Also from the Midwest (Detroit) Frijid Pink, another one of my favorites! And while many people point to "Forever Changes" I think "Out Here" is one of Love's best! Great job. I would kill for your record collection, man. Where'd you get all these?
What is the Zoo album called?

Well, they're for sure better than Brownsville Station and maybe even in line with Rare Earth or Savage Grace, I'll give you that ;-)
But still, they are best known for the plain cover versions of "House Of The Rising Sun" and "We're Gonna Be There".
