  • thats so sad. :(

  • just type in panic in detroit by david bowie its a great sound track while watching this

  • What is the school's name that is in around 9:00 into the film?

  • @1912fld

Southeastern HS on the left, and Foch JR HS on the right. I lived 2 streets over on Beniteau at the time.

  • It started over a shooting at a "blind pig" bust and not a legit case of "oppression". Also the cop shot in defense while doing his job at an illegal situation.........

  • ......AND was a black officer. Then the blacks who claim not to be racist try to burn down their own city over a criminal they didn't even know because he had the same complexion,......

  • .........though again the cop was black he was probably seen as an "uncle tome(rolls eyes). AND black businesses were burnt..........

  • .......Which proves that they WERE bigots, stupid, and nowhere near as "oppressed" as they made out to be which IS largely an excuse for their criminal outburst. This was a major incident that helped bury Detroit while they still insist on blaming "honkey" even though they are the vast majority in both population and city government.

  • It infuriates me to see how this one great city and thriving community was destroyed. Most people blame the blacks, but white people need to take some responsibility as well. Whites abandoned the city, their homes; they ran away. They were lulled into passivity with propaganda touting equality and love; they believed the lies. Kindness is the weakness that cost them their homes, their jobs and their city. White weakness is what destroyed Detroit. Coming to a city near you.

  • @highperactive1 True. Right now it is hard to find any decent normal community of any size anywhere in this nation anymore unless you spend tons of money to subdivide.

  • The thing that is sad is after these riots all the whites started moving out. Please also note that this riot was started in the predominately black neighborhood. There is nothing racist about the truth, the blacks have completely destroyed this once great city.

  • @ifckdjfkswife That is somewhat true, there is some black people that helped the city. But there is some dumbass black people as well. The white cops were being dumb as well.

  • i dont understand the racist bastards on here making the hypocritical comments are the same ones go to detroit buying drugs and the filthy prostitutes.

  • @11xr1east Well, I am not happy at all with that KKK person. I am trying to find a way to get that comment off or report him one.

  • 2:19 the dude to the left looks like boba blue from the movie forrest gump...

  • The Ku Klux Klan was right.

  • WOW I'M SHOCKED

  • Amazing footage, I was 4 years old and still can see the visual of the National Guard on my street corner! Later that night, the sky was bright orange, embers were everywhere and earlier that day, I saw a toranado car on flames...WoW!

  • @0163J I remember the tanks rolling down Livernois Avenue. The sound of gunshots in the distance, the snipers that set the fires then opened up on the firemen when they arrived to put out the fires. My neighbor had his business burned to the ground and couldn't rebuild because the insurance companies had a "riot clause" in the policy that prevented payoff due to civil disorder. Was years ago but the memories have never been effaced from my memory!

  • JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT WHEN IT INVOLVES DETROIT IT DONT WORK !!

  • Detroit, what a absolute SHITHOLE, just like the rest of the other SHITHOLE cities of Amerika. Suggestion= CARPET BOMB these worthless RATHOLES, destroy them, and let nature take over, NEVER rebuild this garbage..ohh, I forgot, they arecalled "Urban Prairies", allready happening in SHITHOLE DETROIT...release the virus you Illuminati

  • 17.38. Looks the same today. Nothings changed.

  • How come no one has their weapon locked and loaded? This is a bs video/

  • I lived there in 67 and we left after the riots. We were on 14th street near where the riots started. In the neighborhood around us it was more about getting what you can from the shops and not about race. It was the gangs and the black panthers shooting from rooftops at police and firemen. Most of the people were just taking out their frustration on the government.

  • @1954murphy Why do these kind of things not happen in white areas. It IS about race, whether you want to admit it or not.

  • @hardstyle905 Maybe. I am not taking sides just stating an observation. The devastation occured and was limited to the black areas. Perhaps it is about frustration and civility, there is no doubt this is the action of the uncivilized. It's why we left.

  • I guess when you buy a $1,000 HDTV a $400 sound system is worth it; if the video has sound.

  • @ARealWiseGuys But it was in the National Archives without sound. So we are SOL on that.

  • Detroit is like a 3rd world country.....looks like war torn Germany.

  • I lived at 8 mile and Livernois........one block from Bakers Keyboard Lounge. The national guard set up camp at a Top Hat restaurant with tanks and jeeps. It looked like a scene from another country. We went riding around after curfew and my buddy ended up in jail for one week for Curfew Violation. Very strange time to grow up in but glad I did.

  • i live just a block from where the riot started on clairmount....historic.... its sad though, we destroyed our own city and expect to be rescued smh

  • sadly detroit never recovered

  • Fascninating aerial shots of the city!

  • I've only heard the stories from my dad. he said he heard something on the radio abiut it and it was a reporter who stuck his mic outside the tank and all you could hear was gunfire. the soldiers in the tank were shooting at a sniper on the Marquis theatre sign

  • I lived in Detroits west side, but worked in the area where the riot started. They sent us home that morning around 10:oo am. It was so scary in a way, The city was under a curfew, don`t remember what time the curfew was. But one night we were siting on our front and the helicopters were flying and they had bull horns. Telling us to go inside. Thanks for posting this.Every where you went the National Guard was there. And they weren`t rioting in my neighborhood.

  • @NOC1TIME I hope it was not to much of a flashback for you. I do apologies if it was. But it is one historic moment in history. Your comment actually adds to the meaning to this video and I do thank you for it!

  • Fascinating footage. Thanks as always jwilinski!

  • @ar4216 Thanks ar4216!
