Excellent point, they have sold you out and have sacrificed their sons & daughters unto the white race of devils. Imagined all of these enchanters including Minister Farrakhan are keeping blackpeople in hell. They don't have a damn solution to anything but go and vote slave. The solution is a government of your own. Farrakhan hasn't built anything to help black people nor has Al, Tavis, or the rest of those clowns. They really are your enemies in hiding. Why not present somebody new?
After a decade of "State of Black America" conferences, then the thousands that participated in "The Covenant", I don't see what is left to talk about at yet another corporate sponsored VIP event. Why not take that sponsor money and donate books/computers to schools? Or use it to lobby on Capitol Hill for bills that directly affect us, like job bills or getting young people money for college? No offense, but this sounds like just another "brought to you by Walmart" chat fest. I think I'll pass.
African-Americans have had all of the same rights as European-Americans since the 1960s.
Most AA have long since pulled themselves up into the middle-class.
Those that haven't, need to stop whining about how they are victims of discrimination, and deserve special treatment, and take responsibility for themselves.
Why is the African American community looking to the government for answers? It doesn't matter what the government does, if kids grow up without fathers and teenage mothers, they are much more likely to struggle in life.
hmmm... Issues in the African-American community run much deeper than that and many of them stem from institutionalized-racism and the prison industrial complex along with the unequal excercising of our current laws on the poor... not all black, but disproportionately so, because of economics. No group of people has preached personal responsibility as thoroughly as black people according to our history, but personal responsibility goes along hand in hand with social/governmental responsibility.
You are right on this issue Tavis. Obama needs to bring his azz down to the Black community and inform us NOT as a black president but as OUR president, what he intends to do about the issues threatening to take down our communities.
Thank you Tavis for addressing this issue. We as Americans should want this President to address the issues of race. Thats why I voted for him. I want representation in our political system from the top down. I don;t like that some people think that race should be ignored rather than discussed on a real level. Our President is black and their are many black issues that need and must be addressed. So I am glad you have the guts to bring it right out in the open and talk about it.

Thank you for your reasoned comments. It's great to have the dialog. I also think it was good to hear u agree to disagree with Sharpton.
