I think most smokers agree that smoking is harmful and that they have the desire to quit smoking. The reality is secondhand smoke kills. If I walk into a bar, I'm not going to be engulfed with second hand alcohol. A lot of smokers don't even smoke in their own homes, they go outside because of the effects it has on their surroundings. It's also a public health issue. Smoking and Non Smoking sections don't work, smoke travels. Also it's good business not to allow your patrons to get lung cancer.

Also no one really likes the smell of cigarettes if they're a non smoker. I do believe smoker's have rights just like everyone else. I've found most smokers to be sympathetic and accommodating when it comes to dealing with non-smokers with a few exceptions. Most smokers have no problem going outside to smoke.
@rainbowgirl678 I doubt people actually use those guns to hurt anyone, and I'm sure a license is required to possess them. If that gun is never used, which I'm certain it probably isn't. Then by far the cigarette will kill a lot faster than the gun. On a side note: (I think when smokers go outside to smoke it makes them feel special. It also gives them a reason to take a break from working. :) ) P.S. Also the benefits of not smoking around ppl, far outweighs the inconvenience it may cause.

You say that we have legs to "run away from smoke" but how can you do this when the law didn't exist (i can only talk about my experiences) everytime i enter a restaurant there where always people smoking. i could enter 3/4 different restaurants but there was always someone smoking. In the UK the ban on smoking in enclosed public places was to prevent the death of employes in bars and eating places due to passive smoke (the estimate is that 50 people a year in the UK die of lung cancer due to another persons smoking).
here in Louisiana, there is NO smoking in restaurants or bars sharing the same attic space as a restaurant. There is also NO smoking within 20 feet of a public buliding such as a courthouse or library. and some other public/private buildings here in La. are NO smoking at all on the property

I think the smoking ban sucks. They passed the smoking ban here in Washington State in 2006. It's getting to where the Goverment controls everything we do has american you can't seem to do anything anymore without it being illegal
