FYI a fawn's only defense when threatened is to not move. They will lay completely still, and just because you can't see the mother doesn't mean its an orphan. Never touch a fawn that is laying still in the grass. Chances are mom will be back.

Did you know that the baby might not have been orphaned? Mothers are known to leav their fawns for long periods of time and return back to them.

Could teach the kid better behavior around animals...but the kid does love animals so hopefully will learn in time...

You should make sure your Son doesn't be so loud around it, animals have very sensitive hearing. :/

Too bad You can't tame a Deer! Maybe the only possibility is to Domesticate the Key Deer, but not a Whitetail. There is no market for it.
