My cats paw around their food and water dishes. I've read they're either following the instinct to "bury" their food, or marking the area with their scent. But as far as I know that's just using the front paws (?). You cat is very sweet, btw!

My cat does this around her food bowl after she's eaten. It's just another way to mark their territory. Like when they rub up on your leg. They aren't saying "I love you" they are saying "I own you."

As the proud mommy of this kitty ( His name is Prince Addington the 3rd, and no, there were none before him, I just like the sound of his name), I can honestly say that 1. it was not a neurological problem 2. He was NOT taken away from his mom too early 3. There was Nothing on the floor.

He is just a kitty that gets super excited about fresh water. I love all the analyzing though! My two favorites were the neurological problem and him being taken away from his mom too early. Classic!

My cat Squishy does almost the same thing but with just her front feet. Then moves the bowl with her head. I've had to buy a heavier bowl so she dosen't tip it over. It's funny to watch her do it!
