Grandstanding for the sake of politics for the most part. A president like Obama (whether you like/agree with him or not) is not going to send up an unqualified Supreme Court nominee. Therefore she will be confirmed. There is no doubt about that at all.

As such, this is all just a dog and pony show. Sad, but a good metaphor for the state of our political structure and the United States overall.
