This music always reminds me of a song which added romantic words to it, Raphael's "Tema de Amor", better known as "Somos dos locos". There are a few versions but the instrumental ones here are better than the professionaly sung ones.
It IS KNOWN as "Forbidden Games" in many countries, because this piece was made famous and widely known thanks to a worldwide classic and very influential film of that title. Since then, this music has always been associated with that film, hence its popular name "Forbidden Games"="Giochi proibiti"="Les jeux interdits". Sorry CSDeagleEyes, they're correct in calling it that. It has no real name of its own, after all.
"Anonymous Romance". Yes, you're right. And because that was not really a title per se, the hugely popular 1952 film "Les Jeux Interdits" (aka "Forbidden Games", aka "Giochi proibiti") has since become so closely associated with this tune, especially in Europe, where the film was very influential. You might want to see that film, it's a great one. In much the same way, people tend now to refer to "Thus Spake Zarathustra", by Richard Strauss, as "The theme to '2001 A Space Odyssey'".
I'm sorry!? That song is not Giochi proibiti or whatever...
As far as I know, that song is called Romance Anonimo, dated from the 19th century, by an anonymous spanish guitarist. And it was Narciso Yepes who then versioned this song.
So I guess it's just a different name for Romance Anonimo, but just wanted t make things clear for everyone :)
you're right, but in italy this song is also knowed as giochi proibiti...i don't know why, maybe cause we italian change name on everything...sad but true.reguards
CSDeagleEyes, the reason this piece is known by two different names "Romance Anonimo" (which isn't really a title, is it?) and "Forbidden Games" (or "Giochi proibiti" in Italian) is because it was made famous by the French classic film "Les Jeux Interdits" = "Forbidden Games"). The film had such a big worldwide impact that many people now refer to this piece of music as "the music from 'Forbidden Games'". Get it?
