  • she dances like a feather blown in the wind.

  • I do not believe this will ever be improved upon. It is too perfect.

  • He is a completely LEGEND! I love him!

  • This Nutcracker is the BEST interpretation/story of the Nutcracker!!!! MY FAVE!! :)

  • I can't watch any other version BECAUSE OF HIM!! DAMN, Baryshnikov was a DANCING GOD!!!!

  • This remains my all-time personal favorite interpretation of "The Nutcracker." Although there aren't children here dancing the roles (which are mostly that of children), this still was one of the best things ever by the hand of Baryshnikov. He is not only the supporting actor, but choreographer as well. A pas de deux between these two is worth more than it's weight in gold--superior only to that of watching their solos... and the solos of all the Prince's loyal subjects.

    Their best, THE BEST.

  • this is extreemly gay 3 min of my life wasted

  • My Uncle met Baryshnikov when he himself was training to be a dancer.

  • lucky dog.

  • well that lucky dog. wish I coulda been him. I'd love to meet the guy

  • I attended the World Premiere of this production at the Kennedy Center in 1976, when Marianna Tcherkassky originated the role of Clara (Gelsey still be too ill to perform). The next year Gelsey was back and danced this work not only with Baryshnikov, but also Anthony Dowell, Richard Cragin, and (I believe) Ivan Nagy. I don't think I'll ever forgive Baryshnikov for withdrawing this production, but I also think that no one will ever approach the magic that Gelsey brought to this role.

  • So here's the beautiful transition between Battle, & Snow scenes, but I can't find the Battle Scene at all ='(

  • When will someone post Part 4 - the Battle with the Mice?

And what happened to the other posting of this piece? The video was much clearer on that one!

  • This was a PBS presentation for Christmas 1977, with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gelsey Kirkland. I remember watching this on TV - a beautiful interpretation!

  • @livnfree930 I was actually on the PBS set when they were broadcasting this. They were fundraising this night. I was supposed to be manning the phones, but I couldn't concentrate because I just wanted to watch the Nutcracker.

  • @livnfree930 Yes - PBS used to show it every year on Christmas Eve. It was sponsored by IBM.

  • This is my favorite performance of the Nutcracker,I can't believe that was 32 years ago.
