Yeah I feel the same way. They didn't have to kill off Jenny. Every lesbian story I've read when I was coming out was that lesbians get killed or left completely broken hearted and used by those who just want to experience it at least once.
Wow. Since I live in Norway I watched the last episode few weeks ago.
And the funny and ironic thing is that I had just begun watching the show, I watched maybe 4 episodes before the last one. I was home and bored, and switched around channels, and I found L word. I thought it was a funny show so I started to watch it.
And when I watched the last episode I thought it was just a season finale! It's not? Is L word OVER for GOOD! That's the weirdest and cruelest ending for a show ever!
Nah, you should watch it. You're missing an essential part of the L Word, you gotta join in the conversation of it all. You haven't seen L Word unles you've seen all the episodes, every moment and season.
I agree that the ending was poorly written but I don't think you all should turn on Ilene. I'm sure she did her best and she needed to have someone die in order to explain the spin off show with Leisha. Jenny had become the least likeable character, so it made sense.
to the point in which I just left the room and refused to discuss or think about the l word until now... wondering if anyone felt the same way...obviously
this i agree was a bad/dumb finale,i kept staring at the clock like my life depended on it because i new the show lasted only so long&then when the last five hundred hours of them all walking towards the freaking camera with their hair blowing came up, i sat there stunned repeating WTF in my head to make sense of why i would be put through 8 episodes of torture. none of the issues
i wondered about were covered in any way, like i guess shanes forever alone&bette&tina are forever on the rocks...
i was disgraced at the ending..like wtf was that ending.. the characters looked like shit and then you had Bette looking like a fking Super model ... i mean srsly they shouldve done the LEZ GIRLS ending with "jesse" going back to Tim .. because srsly that ENDING was SHIT!... Apparently in an interview Ilene said she would love to do a movie and thats why they left so many loose ends. Im just glad i only got attatched to Jennys character..
Adele Channing stole Jenny and Nikki's private video tape of their lovemaking they made during the Subaru Pink Ride and uses it as a means of blackmail to have Jenny removed as director of Lez Girls with herself being the replacement.
(continued) Nikki stated that the movie Lez Girls was an embarassment and a terrible film and she does not want it to be released so she hid them in Jenny's attic, and the reason why it was was an embarassment and a terrible film is because of Adele. Adele has no right to be the director of Lez Girls, only Jenny, therefore Adele's contract is null and void.
Yeah i know...in Watchmen i was all excited i was like ohh shit they put a lesbian in the movie...then they get murdered..then ur forced to watchthe nasty straight sex for the rest of the movie!!!! yipeee
yeah but u know wat i know exactly wat u mean i was really depressed when i was younger and i looked to like gay books an shows for help...they mostly end in destruction...are they tryin to say being gay is destructive?? well it is a harder lifestyle..but i like hopeful stories i guess. But im older now i dont need shows to build selfconfidence but im sure the youth needs those positive images images..everyones says i should be a glbt youth consulor when i get older lol i wouldnt mind.
Oh my god! These are the only 3 words I can come up with to describe my feeling towards the damn L Word. I mean I can curse up a storm; but - lets not go there. The ending was such a kick in the ass, such a above and beyond a disappointment. I am still in shock. I almost wish I never got into the series since season 1. Season 6 was so badly done; it makes me regret getting attached to all these characters. Makes me just want to kick my own ass. Jeez! So sad, such a disgrace.
I agree with everything you had to say! Thank you for saying it for us all!!! You are very articulate, and you are very beautiful!
I am also quite upset with the way things were handled on the show... I have so many things to say, but I don't know what is more important... Plus I think you said it wonderfully so we will leave it at that!
I like the fact that jenny died cuz she waz phyco... but it should have been suicide especially after what bette said to her and the way that everyone started to treat her.... cuz she really diserved the way ppl treated her and much more
your right about being happy w d ending!!! I cant even believe how i signed that fkn pettition for the l word movie...cuz quite frankly i don believe they can fix thiz whole season6in an 1-2hr movie. Ilene shouldn even call herself a lesbian... unfoutunetly bitches like her give such a bad reputation to the LGBT comunity! I had actually came to idea of accepting their was an ending to the series eventough i was real upset it was goin2b8ep.but rite from ep1 i knew it wasent going to end well.>>>
i kept watchin hopin they would make a miracle and actually find a way of fixing it!!!! but u can tell they lack imagination or she iz a a real fkn misarable lesbian who has to fuck with everyone eleses positive view on the l word.......
p.s they lied about the 2HR ending, they lied about having paris hilton...
How was the ending NOT a cookie-cutter hollywood ending? The last three minutes were absolutely horrible. The smiling, the music, the walking and the wind (!?).
The series was great, and no matter how bad it gets, a true fan watches until the end, until the last note is played. That's how you critique something, you give it a chance, you see it through to the end.
TLW didn't use its chance very wisely, it fell from an incredible height, even you admit it.
But I grew somewhat connected with the characters and their storylines because they were a representation of something about myself that a lot of people either dont understand or just dont talk about so I kept watching. It's frustrating that the show ended on this note. It's frustrating that these really talented, and not to mention hot, actresses didn't get material that exercised their exceptional abilities.
Jesus. First of all, you are a really wellspoken person, I agree with alot, if not all of what you said here. I def know what youre talking about in terms of the doomed lesbian thing. TLW was great for the first 2 or 3 seasons. If it had been a regular show not about lesbians I probably would have stopped watching after the 3rd or 4th season....
I agree! I myself had to pause and make some dinner after the first fifteen minutes, only to start losing my appetite after the next fifteen.
It's tragic, it really is, that they were given a series finale, when so many great shows aren't. They really didn't make the best of it, they've obviously completely disregarded viewers' comments. It was insulting and painful..just urgh.
But I suppose life goes on. Grab the positive and move on as well.
Aww **hugs** I agree with you, it was a huge 'fuck U fans', not from the actresses, they were great, but from the writers. I guess we all kinda expected that it was gonna suck, but not to this level. It was horrible. BTW, I love your haircut.
You're right about that... i'm surprised that the l word falls into that category of films that would link queer women with depression, murder or suicide. It's so cliché. Also it seems that with Jenny's character there's been this idea that "coming out" changes you but not always in a good way. Like if friends come out around you they might reveal their true self and start acting out of control... It's kinda scary.
They fucked up. But it's been fucked up since the beginning of the season. Last season was soo good, and then they gave us this. It was trying to make us hate Jenny in the beginning of the season, then the last three it was trying to get us to like her again. Everyone was out of character (except Jenny), and the writers were just trying to give them producers something to make money off of. Gah!! Not gonna get started on the rest.
...can redeem it all! That all said, I think the cast are extremely talented and it's unfortunate that they all were unhappy with the last season! I guess Ilene's narcissism got in the way (as Jenny is meant to be her) but I still admire her greatly for even having the guts to propose and create such a show! I just feel a bit empty now that there is no real representation for Lebians on the TV! :( I hope if they do a movie, Mia will be included in it in some way - she's amazing! rant over! :)
... neither of them would've done that! I don't know what you think but I think that the Season would've been alot stronger if it hadn't been done within 8 episodes; it was all too rushed! And I think the ending was left open on purpose to allow for 1) the spinoff 2) a possible movie! Have to say I did actually find the episode sad, in particular the part where they are watching the video together! I just wish my memory of the L Word wasn't tainted by this season! Hopefully a good L word movie..
That was a great review! And I agree with you, the last episode of the L word just fed upon cliched Lesbain characters of Lesbians being killed off or being the killers and as you said, what sort of message does that send out?! The thing not particularly annoyed me about the last season was the total destruction of alot of the characters and the general inconsistency of their characters - eg. Tasha suddenly went against her beliefs on cheating and Shane cheated on her Best Friend Jenny...
when did tasha cheat on alice? as i recall i dont remember her kissing anyone else or touching anyone else. the period of time when alice was waiting for her to call we dont know what she did but i just dont picture her being with...was jaime her name? idr....but whatever
I didn't say Tasha cheated! I said "she went agains her beliefs on cheating"! Her beliefs on cheating were that thinking is cheating and she admitted (when Jamie, Alice and herself were having lunch) that she had never done it before until now! That is what I meantt! Not that she actually cheated!
The unfortunate thing about writing comments it that tone cannot be conveyed! I wasn't being defensive, nor was I even remotely bothered by your comment! If that's the impression you got, sorry!
you remind me of Amanda Knox
