@commissarusa: I am pretty sure that this comes from either Radio Havana or from a military installation in Pinar Del Rio. On rare occasions, I have heard Windows PC tones (the sound that indicates low memory or invalid op) in the background when powering up at 200AM CST..weird stuff man...

I got a few days of crystal clear Atencion in winter - Western Europe reception. Australia's even further though. Good job, and make the best of your winter!

Are you using external antenna or is it just a good radio weather?

It's an indoor antenna made from random wire that trail around two wide windows. It's got two crude loading coils 'linking' the two window antennas and a pair of rabbit ears thrown in for good measure. It's not technical at all, but it seems to work, except for the noise it picks up. I've been listening to hams from the states on 20 meters recently, so the bands might be opening up, too.
