I think boxers are better athletes right now. The only reason I think this is because more people box. So their champs have greater skill. Let's say hypothetically that 50 million people around the world box and only 5 million do mma. The boxing champions will be more skilled because their is more competion. Also boxing pays it's champions millions and mma champions only make hundreds of thousands. In a few years this all may change.

If you are not a fan of full body combat, then your obviously not going to buy UFC on PPV. If you can't find enjoyment of a slickly executed submission, you are clearly not a fight fan. The deal with fox is worth over $100 million for 7 years & UFC 100 did over 80 million in PPV alone. UFC is dominating the PPV industry since about 2006 & has only putting on more events every year. Boxing has the biggest draws but those 2 big events boxing does doesn't generate enough money to cover 1 & 1/2 quality UFC events. UFC was in debt in 2008, old news bro.

Toward the end it was shown that Sylvia was trying to grab Mercer. That's what moving in close and grappling will do to you. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the grappler will always lose but I will say this for grapplers, they seem to lack the anticipation of getting knocked out.

If you can fight great you go to boxing where they pay great and if you can't fight great you go to MMA.

Secondly, why the hell would we care about Mercer. Hes not boxings representative, not even close. But that didnt stop him from turning a TOP 10 MMA HW's lights out in 9 seconds. Sylvia had never been KO'd like that in his entire career. And a 47 year old, irrelevant, shot, fat boxer KOd him.

The sad part about it is that Sylvia was the one that challenged Mercer - and he had challenged Mercer to a boxing match - only to change it to a MMA fight 2 days before the fight. jesus christ guys wake the fuck up. this shit has got nothing to do with boxing vs mma. It's about a fat, washed out, out of shape, overconfident fighter taking his opponent lightly and getting caught. End of story. Should they fight pother 100 times, a focused Tim (not a prime Tim, just focused) would win 99.
That being said mma and boxing are two different sports and there not need to argue which is better. There is no better, you chose what you like and that's it.
