  • When I reached the phone/he talkin' reckless/I can sense deceite in his tone/I said damn dog/What? 9 weeks and you home?/He said main man/ U think shits sweet/cause you home-Awesome. This was back when the best rappers where rated off stories and skills and substance, today cats is rated off dances ring tone sales and how good their business. Shame. "Had 'em thinkin' I was from uptown, for real...

  • THE REALEST JOINT FOR DA HOOD...REAL G'S STAND UP AND RIDE SLOW AND LOW ON THIS ONE ...FEEL ME....HOLLA!!!!!

  • 3 people missed the "LIKE" button.

  • You little kids are dumb as fuck with that stupid ass free mason shit. And yeah this shit is harder than his current shit but at least he evolved with the times. How you gone be worth well over 400 mil and still rapping bout slingin on the block? think about it? J evolved, you may not like it but hey you still got the old shit to bump right?

  • @nonameneeded405

Jay became an entrepreneur. That's why he is worth well over $400 mil. Yeah, his rap career got him the intial capital, but he wouldn't be worth half that as just a rapper. He's not as lyrical as he used to be. He doesn't have to rhyme about slangin' on the block to be lyrical. Lyricists can craft stories, fictions that seem real, evoke emotion. Anybody can rap about nonsense and bullshit that they do nowadays.

I love old Nas shit, hate his new shit. Same with Jay.

  • @xxSilentThinker

Coo, I made no mention of how he came into his wealth just that It wouldn't make any sense to be worth that damn much and rapping the same way from a decade ago. Like I said his old stuff is better but he has managed to evolve with the times and still make money in the rap game along with his other business ventures. I agree with you on the lyrical point maybe it died when em so called killed him on renegade lol. But who still raps the same. Snoop doesn't, nas, J, Em, even 50?

  • @nonameneeded405 And what is that called? selling out . You can change with the times, but you don't change the original aspect. You can repaint, get more workers, get new technology, items, up your inventory, get some fancy signs, change a few policies of a hardware store, but what these guys did, is changing a hardware store, into a damn clothing mall, sure, it's fancy, it gets you paid, and all the followers love it, but it's not at all in actuality good, they didn't evolve.

  • Comment removed

  • @Shadowlooker12

    What is art without change?

  • @Shadowlooker12

How has the original aspect changed. He still raps. You started off in kindergarten are you a sellout for graduating high school? You start out hitting a rock with a stick in a parking lot are you a sellout for playing in the MLB? Is a Producer a Sellout for ditching his classical training for an MPC or vice versa? How many times can you rap about crack sales? How many times do you want to hear rap about crack sales? C'mon. If Jay sold out what the hell do you call Ice Cube?

  • @nonameneeded405 They completely changed, except maybe Em, because he still does rap similar to his old self, look at Wu Tang, they are not as publicized as Jay Z, but they still bump old hip hop style beats and still have that 90's feel to them, and people still like them, BUT, they are not "What's in" "what's in style" so f them this is how the populace think, so fuck them sell outs. The millions of dollars and fans don't mean squat, it's mostly a bunch of followers who listen to w/e in style.

  • @Shadowlooker12

Lol how did em not change? Remember let me slap that ass with Akon who was hot at the time. Original Em would have never.... Umm I for one havent listened to the radio in at least 4 years. I Literally have not watched MTV or BET in probably 3yrs No BS. I don't get caught up in the BS music. Shit to quote Beanie "every little song n dance come out, ya'll hype that trash". If ppl today weren't idiots and mindless they would distinguish and elect for more good music. However....

  • @Shadowlooker12

It's unfortunate that Talib Kweli, MOP, Mos Def and so many others are not the face of hip hop/rap. But as with everything if you try to do the same old song and dance you get passed over and left behind. Plus if more fans supported better music you would have BETTER MUSIC!!! I know Jay has made some songs you can complain about but in the big picture I wouldn't call him a sell out. "You can bullshit with rap if you want". He still shows lyrical signs of his past.

  • @nonameneeded405 Popularizing Bullcrap is not ok. Dull, mind numbing, repetitive music, is now what sells. Go out and fuck anyone, Go out and club, go out and drink, Go buy lots of material objects, Violence, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, that music existed in the 90's also, but now it's popularized and way outplayed, looked upon as the norm and usual,And this lame ass "Im going to do me f everyone else" movement. Radio plays the same 20 songs all day till the next 20 trend songs come out.

  • @nonameneeded405 " FUCK JAY Z " - NAS & PAC

  • Seems like Jay let "White America" get to his ryhmes these days, don't get me wrong he is still one of the best, but if he still was as hungry as he was during this ERA he would be the best no question...

  • @Forillagorilla22 LISTEN TO WHAT THE DUDE ABOVE SAYS. how can he rap about hustlin and all that bullshit when he aint even in that shit no more. he gonna run outta shit to say eventuallu stop been such a hater youtube noob!

  • god left a while go get over the devil shit born agan bitches

  • For those wondering, yes this song is about Dehaven. Him, Hov & Emery came up in the drug game. I heard Dehaven introduced Hov to the game. Hov knew D snitched when Emery & Dehaven got bagged but the nigga D came out quick but Emery is still doing a fed bid. Cut the nigga off from there. Heard Hov even came to Dehaven's moms funeral & gave his daughter the cold shoulder.......Damn

  • Do you know this for a fact?

  • The funeral shit...not 100% sure besides that, yeah. I know niggas. Even even Hov says some shit about D'haven. Listen to No Hook.

i think beyonce fucked him up lol

lyrics fiyah but emotion come with it too

  • classic shit! Too bad this J is dead!

  • tru

  • If you are comparing this beat to the beats he uses right now, I agree

But as far as lyrical content I got to disagree. Jay Z is now more than just a regular rapper

  • Well that goes without saying if you are comparing him to these rappers nowadays.

  • CLASSIC.

  • jay z sampled this from kool g rap (cannon fire) but kool g rap sampled it from a old classic music peice but i dont know what it was called

  • the illest nigga to ever rap

  • naw that pac title nigga

  • I was hating on Jay-z for jacking Big L's Material untill i heard this Colab song with $hort.

  • For me, snitching or telling on ANYone, ANYthing was off boundaries. I never aplogized for nothing, would take major bids for the simplest shit. It was that ''I'm not telling you shit, Who the fuck are you mentaliy.'' And aint shit changed.

  • Seventeen and I'm holdin on to around a mill

I could bail out and blow trial and come around on the pill

Had niggaz thinkin I was from Uptown for real

I had so much hustle plus I was down to ill

  • Jay-Z ft. R.Kelly - The Streets, First 1:00 WAS My Life.

  • Jay - A Week Ago earliar in the Pearl Enzo reminiscing on a 9 month bid at sixteen. 675 Books. • TRUE CLASSIC what happened till music like this not even hov raps like this hardle nomore i say hardly cause that song money goes it starts reminding me of the old #23 hov not that #45 hahha get it

  • Speaking on Dehaven maybe? Damnn..Jay's can really see the future like Cleo the psychic..LOL

Anyway one of my favorite Jay-Z joints.

  • This is true hip hop right here. I never thought I'd come to the day where I couldn't stand Jay-Z because of the way he shitted on his peoples from back then and now makes average or crappy music. I miss 90s hip hop.

  • jay-z already addressd dat snitch nigger dehaven in this song bout 12yrs ago!...fuck dehaven 4 cavin...real niggers dont make statements.

  • Don't bother getting into this shit. Being locked up is an experience like no other. Some of the freest people in the world are in jail - imagine reading books without any distraction for years, becoming more knowledgable than anyone because you move farther into the sky until the day you get out, and look back at the world in the clearest view possible, your mind begins to see society like no other.

  • then you can't get work when you get out.

  • Classic Jay, Vol. 2 and Reasonable Doubt are his best works IMO.

  • is there a story behind this song?

i know its about someone who snitched on jay-z?

or is it the other way around?

  • dehaven jay z old boy

  • was talkin bout dehaven!

  • cant be 2 safe cuz niggas is 2 faced and you see they other side when they catch a new case this song is real as fuck

  • man this beat is fucking insane and deep lyrics by jay-z are too

  • Ya'll internet talkers don't know nothing 'bout this, stop acting like you do. You aint been stripped searched daily, You aint done yearly bids, You aint smoked weed out of jolly rancher wraps, Ya'll aint live in cold walls. I agree with the comment from mdeezie

  • I'm feelin' that !

  • thanks for posting this man - great song, always reminds me how fast shit can change, no matter what the situation

  • Comment removed

  • All you guys shut the fuck up and enjoy the song. They don't make rap this good nowadays, not even Jay-Z himself. 90s rap will ALWAYS be the best.

  • one of my favorite jay songs of all time.

  • It was so good just a week ago

  • YOU RAT BASTARD hahahahah great line obie had to steal it

  • "The labelin' of a snitch is a lifetime scar. You'll always be in jail nigga, just minus the bars."

    ~BEZ

    ~MDZ of RedZonE

  • This is a classic right here. if u a snitch fuck yal and all yal otha niggas dat haten on jayz fuck yal 2 get your money up before yal tlk shit.

  • Well pressure bust pipes, but it still dont make it right. Sniches could be the reason po has info in the first place.

  • oh no doubt i aint glorifyin snitchin...all im sayin is these lil kids on here r screamin theyr livin the thug life n shit lol u know...when they aint never been in no tight spot like that...and theyre tryin to live a celebritys life n shit...they just followers...and in the face of the police theyd break..

    ~MDZ of RedZonE

  • Guess I'm late to the reply party. I feel this shit. They never been in a hard cell sleepin' on concrete and starved with no food for a week. Just never been through no hard shit that makes you a person that won't snitch. Gotta walk that walk first before you can really talk the talk.

  • i feel what you are sayin dog...some people act like this is they own song and someone snitched on them. when they get put in this situation their bitch-like instincts tell them to snitch just like everybody in the world...

  • tell me about it. none of these dudes on here (myself included) know shit about this life. I mean I lived in a project complex so I've seen some snitches, and they were them dudes who swore up and down they were hard as nails and wouldn't snitch. I was young and could walk into a laundry room and see drug deals goin on. But where I lived wasnt no damn GHETTO, and still people acted like they were tough as fuck.

  • your so GHETTO behind your dell

  • Shit only cause I cant afford a mac.

  • check "hardhead8622" for the heat in them freestyles
