  • I haven't watched this piece of video since the first time I saw it live and yet it's always stayed with me since I first saw it. It just seemed like a very special moment on that occasion when time stood still and watched as well, ultimately because that Eva Cassidy song is so incredible and heart-wrenching but the skating did well to match it and make it a whole.

  • I don't remember who won in 2002, I don't really remember the circumstances, but I remember THIS skate. I was familiar with Eva Cassidy's incredible version before I watched this skate, and when the first strains played, I knew we were in for something very special. I DO remember you, Michelle, every time I hear this song. I remember the most ideal pairing of artistry ever to grace the ice--your emotional, feelings-laid-bare skating, with Eva's soulful and intimate rendition.

    Perfection.

  • This is a "limping" video. =p

  • Beautiful and classic, we miss you dearly Michelle, no one has come close since. I'll take a skater who has the love and passion for the sport to stick it out even when it's tough, than a flash in the pan any day, or someone who takes the money/gold medal and runs...grace and class defined. I watch this every so often to remind me what is best about skating.

  • As much as I LOVE this music, she just doesn't do it for me as a skater. I just don't get the same emotion watching her. A great talent; just not for me.

  • Grace, grace, grace

  • the most beautiful thing on ice. she is the best cuz she touches your heart and you experience it with her. this made me weep.

  • Your video is a favorite on Guyana

  • Beautiful! It still touches after seeing so many times. Congratulations, Michelle Kwan for being elected to the Figure Skating Hall of Fame.

  • This performance was better than the OGM winning performance...

  • PLUS: One thing Kwan will ALWAYS have over Tara and Sasha is class. I love T and S as skaters, but what are they doing now? They both, to me, seem like reality-star stereotypes, bouncing from "career" to "career" (failed acting, embarrassing shows, etc) and it's kind of sad honestly. Kwan: Masters Degree, Public Diplomat, Recent Commencement Speaker (honorary Doctorate). Can you see Tara being asked to speak at a University ;) That's what legacy and class are all about my friend.

  • @getrealandsee Therefore, since greatness has many definitions. I think Michelle Kwan fits the bill and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. If you need a definition then here's one. "Greatness" Definition: the property possessed by something or someone of outstanding importance. The property Michelle Kwan posseses is passion, skill, and strength in her art, and her "outstanding importance" is to the many fans whom she has inspired all over the world.

  • @getrealandsee Everyone is entitled to their opinion and some people tend to take things too personally on a matter that isn't even their own. However, you should know that a person's greatness isn't measured by gold medals or things they have won, but by the impact and legacy they left behind them. There might have been so many elite artists, singers, actors, gymnasts, etc who probally won awards for their performances and were NEVER were remembered because they had no impact on the world.

  • @joannaloweg1992 Don't be so sure of the lack of impact...oh, not so LOUD and flamboyant but still an impact...Kwan hung on forever and ever to win that Olympic Gold Medal that it isn't about...oh, it was about medals...and titles....and records....Kwan boasts about them and you can bet that it was all about the bucks and fame..otherwise, why 2006? Ugly trick...very ugly trick...and Kwan's reaction to her scores which determine medals screams what she was in it for. She just thought it was hers

  • She is awsome! Who cares if she didn't win, she is talented and beautiful!

  • You know what? I don't care if she has an Olympic Gold or not. She could come last in the next Olympics and she'd still be my favorite figure skater.

  • The sad fact is that, except for insiders and hardcore fans, figure skating is a sport that really only matters at the Olympics. And in sports that really only matter at the Olympics, you’re judged by how you do at the Olympics. Figure-skating people will put her in their Hall of Fame and forever think of her as a member of the pantheon. But for the rest of us, she had two chances to prove her greatness and she didn’t answer the bell.

  • @getrealandsee I REPEAT: Yuna Kim's hero is MICHELLE KWAN!!!! LOVES IT!!!

  • @getrealandsee Be careful...if you keep calling a 9 time national and 5 time world champ a failure, someone might drag your beloved Sasha Cohen into the discussion..roflmao...

  • @getrealandsee: That is completely untrue, at least here in America. Michelle Kwan is THE icon of ladies figure skating. Ask an average, hardcore football/basketball fan who never watches figures skating who Sarah Hughes or Tara Lipinski is... they likely won't know. But they WILL know Michelle Kwan, who, to this day, is synonymous with figure skating in the US. Whenever there is an article about skating in mainstream news, Kwan is mentioned as the last of the US superstars of the sport.

  • @getrealandsee: Plus, "getreal," what I wish you'd understand is that it's not about medals. It's about the impact a person has on a sport, and an audience. Why can't you respect Kwan's contributions and the fact that she obviously touched millions of people emotionally with her performances, just as I can certainly respect Tara, Sasha and Sarah's qualities??? I mean, this Fields of Gold program is beautiful, yet you don't comment on the program at all. How do you feel about the actual skate?

  • @mlc2005 Well, take away the tears and pity party...the skate itself is lovely:)-:) Pathetic choice and she for sure had a backup....I believe that this was just to garner pity and sympathy but still the program...is very pretty.

And in response to your other comment...OF COURSE Michelle Kwan will be remembered and OF COURSE her name is synonymous with figure skating....she hung on and on and on.....others came...won...and moved on. In Kwan's short here it was "Go USA"...but on the podium..

  • @getrealandsee Only an idiot who knows absolutely nothing about sports would suggest that longevity is a bad thing...Michelle Kwan changed figure skating and became the biggest star skating has ever had. She won 9 national and 5 world titles in a career that became legendary even without Olympic gold. Intelligent people understand that this is an extraordinary feat...bitter, envious Sasha Cohen fanatics will always find fault with Michelle because they want for Sasha everything Michelle has...

  • @getrealandsee Since you are most impressed with those who came, won and moved on, why on earth are you a Sasha fan? You call Sasha the best ever, but she couldn't even wrestle a world title away from Kimmie Meissner! Didn't Sasha hang on and on and on? Do I need to mention her last nationals LP where she choked worse than anyone in the history of skating? You are a phony and a hypocrite...

  • @MissThingSings i have to say that getrealandsee is not really much of a sasha fan since sasha fans wouldn't go clambering around dissing Michelle Kwan. I have closely examined getrealandsee, knowing she has a difficult time which figure skaters fit to her eccentric vision of an 'idol' . Frankly, Tonya Harding fits her bills.

  • @getrealandsee u change ur tune in every video. here u say only oly gold matters yet in tons of other videos u hail irina, mao, or worse=sasha!. and lol @ u putting urself in the category of "non skating-insider" when you've spent years stalking michelle videos like a pathetic loser. as for the general public, michelle is one of the few skaters they can even name. her endorsements, tv specials and fame are unrivalled for any american skater in the past 2 decades

  • In a syrupy video tribute to Kwan late on NBC’s prime-time broadcast Sunday, Jimmy Roberts, the Sultan of Syrup, intoned over images of Ted Williams and Dan Marino, “The history books are filled with Hall of Famers who never won their sport’s biggest prize. Now Kwan sits shoulder to shoulder at their elite level.”

    But she doesn’t.

  • What’s really sad is that for all the comforting talk that Kwan will be remembered as one of the greatest skaters of all time despite never having won Olympic gold, she won’t be remembered as one of the greatest skaters of all time because she never won Olympic gold.

  • @getrealandsee Sweetheart, YOU don't get to decide how Michelle Kwan will be remembered. As for Olympic gold, our reigning Olympic champ certainly knows something about it...and the FACT is that she bypassed each and every previous gold medalist when deciding on her hero. Yuna Kim named MICHELLE KWAN as her personal hero!! Not Kristi, not Peggy, not Kristi, not Katerina, not Tara, not Sarah...Yuna's HERO is MICHELLE KWAN!! It's FABULOUS!

  • In 1994 Michelle Kwan was treated to a trip to Norway...got to experience the Olympics...had an opportunity that no one before her had and no one after her. Poor little thing didn't get to skate....of COURSE she would have captured the GOLD ....of, but of course....absolutely....poor poor Michelle Kwan.

  • regardless of all comments against her, there is not doubt she is still and will be one the greatest skaters of all time.it does not matter if it was the 6.0 system, she is still the most successful skater in history. I doubt there will ever be a 9 time national champion or a 5 time world champion. She earned it and she deserved it.

  • @adiaz1984 Of course there won't...not many skaters hang on forever and ever and ever....and for sure not one has had the too many to count breaks that she had during her loooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnng 'career'.

  • @getrealandsee Well, I suppose Michelle could've cut her career short and followed your example, but she's far too classy to sit on a couch and post on YouTube about young women performing oraI sex in order to gain Olympic berths (which is precisely what you did last week)...I wonder, is that how your parents advanced their careers?

  • @getrealandsee Your favorite, Sasha Cohen, turned in one of, if not THE, worst performances in the history of skating at 2010 nationals, yet she finished 4th. Never heard you complain about that injustice...is it because Sasha isn't Asian?

  • regardless of all comments against her, there is not doubt she is still and will be one the greatest skaters of all time.it does not matter if it was the 6.0 system, she is still the most successful skater in history. I doubt there will ever be a 9 time national champion or a 5 time world champion. She earned it and she deserved it.

  • Love Michelle Kwan. She's such an inspiration.

  • this is sooo beautiful. And the tears at the end really showed she loves what she's doing.... =')

  • Michelle is by far my most favorite skater that has ever skated. She always skates from hear heart. She feels the music and has a natural sense of artistry that most lack.

  • oh my... I love Irina Slutskaya for her energy, Michelle Kwan for her passion, Tara Lipinski for her speed and fun skating, Sarah Hughes for her natural presence on ice, Shizuka Arakawa for her gorgeous ina-bauer and her mature skating and Sasha Cohen for her talent and polished moves and performing skills. I have a favorite among them, yes, but I DO NOT HAVE TO HATE THE OTHERS. I'm sick of the comments here. (oh and I love Yagudin's skating and wait...I love Evgen's too...) I must be an alien!!

  • @Ardenis9 i completely agree with you.

  • @Ardenis9 well said :)

  • This is just stunning. I love you Michelle, Olympic gold or no Olympic gold.

  • Dignity? Grace? Watch the video of the Olympic Medal Ceremony and just see "dignity and grace". What a joke and what a PHONY is the lol Michelle Kwan! Pepto, anyone?

  • @getrealandsee SO glad you are finally considering medication, but IMO Pepto can't even begin to address your illness...

  • Didn't even deserve the bronze but this phony will never wear the Gold. The Olympics is the one event that really matters and she FAILED twice despite the extra favoritism her way.

  • @allenglandlawns AKA Getrealandsee You, a person who has more youtube usernames than college credits, are calling someone a phony? LOL LOL LOL! You, a person who has sat in your trailer park for YEARS posting about Michelle Kwan DAILY, are calling someone a loser? ::::ROARING WITH LAUGHTER!!!!!!:::: You are BRAIN DEAD!!!!

  • @allenglandlawns Right on and if you count that ugly vile trick she pulled in 2006 it make THREE times the LOL FAILED!!! I am sure the crazed defenders are guarding all her videos and that in about oh....a nanosecond....the situation in 1994 will be yet again used...hmmm....let's see...Nancy Kerrigan had competed the entire season, was whacked in the knee and crippled and STILL (after totally rightfully using the injury clause to petition) won SILVER ...and poor michelle was robbed.

  • Ignore the trolls! They are ugly, mean and full of vile.

  • Such a beautiful moment in the sport. The tears, the pain, the SHOCK when it turned out she had to pay for her mistakes. The Olympics couldn't be about the "Michelle Kwan Show" when she failed yet again but she sure tried to make it here with the waterworks in this exo.

  • @allenglandlawns 9 national, 5 world titles...and, besides the world record for the most usernames in one trailer park, you've accomplished???????????????

  • @allenglandlawns You are utter trash -- and have yet to provide a shred of EVIDENCE to support ANY of your baseless hatred for a person YOU DO NOT KNOW.

The mentally healthy AVOID things they hate. You OBSESSIVELY STALK that you hate so you can WALLOW in your personal ugliness.

Get the professional help you so obviously need.

  • Tears of joy, tears of sadness? It's ALLLL sadness...and shock...and ranker. Wouldn't have bothered showing that wrecked and snivelly face on the podium otherwise. She was gifted the bronze out of pity. No integrity whatsoever! As for the longevity...hang around forever and you're bound to be handed medals for participation...I guess it came in lieu of Sasha's bronze.

  • @allenglandlawns AKA Getrealandsee...Michelle Kwan if more wealthy, belved, famous and successful than you or anyone in your family. Even without Olympic gold, she remains the most iconic skater of the last decade. Your opinion of her is the MINORITY opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @allenglandlawns The judges who awarded her the bronze are the same judges who awarded the gold and silver. So you are saying that none of those medals were awarded WITHOUT "corruption".

OPPOSITE you, the mentally HEALTHY AVOID things they hate. The corruption you rail against is your own: and you wallow in it like the pig in shit you are.

Get the professional help you so obviously need.

  • So so much pity for baby Kwan. Tears flowing for embarrassing herself and failing the USA for the second time despite all the babying and help she could get. If it wasn't about the OGM and just about that syrupy "journey" and "process" crap, she should have been all smiles here and on that podium. Instead, she pouts and cries so much that the audience must stand for her bc heaven forbid she can't do it herself.

  • @allenglandlawns AKA Getrealandsee, etc..Kindly name all of the people in your family who are more beloved and accomplished than Michelle Kwan. Point us to a record book where YOUR name is listed. Post a pic of YOUR trophy case =) You are a big NOBODY who sits in a trailer night and day obsessing over someone who will forever be a legend and an icon. I certainly understand your jealousy, but hating Michelle Kwan is not going to resolve the failure that is your life. Take your meds, dear...

  • @allenglandlawns She didn't fail the US, because the Olympics are not about countries. They are about individual excellence. And Kwan repeatedly proved her excellence.

Tell us: How does it feel to wallow in hatred, especially as it changes nothing outside your stalker's psychosis? No amount of effort to tear her down will succeed in artifically propping up Lipinski.

Get the professional help you so obviously need.

  • @anubethc45 according to allengland/Getreal, Olympic gold makes Tara and Sarah superior to Michelle. allen/Get touted this "greatest of all-time" list that named Yuna the best. However, due to her lack of intelligence, she didn't anticipate anyone asking where Sarah and Tara finished on that list lol! They aren't even on it! Brian Orser beat TWO TIME Olympic champ Dick Button on that very list. Getreal/allen's favorite theory is disproved by the very list she's been touting! 100% HILARIOUS!!

  • Oh Scott...Kwan didn't even win the bronze. That was Sasha's who was undermarked against Kwan in both the short and long. Pity points for screwing up again gave Kwan another shiny token to take home...never really was a champion and has zilch integrity...but oh well...it is delightful to see the look of pain and shock that the gold wasn't going to be outright handed to her here. She apparently thought it was going to be...gold costume, gold music, puked short, simple long, coachless...NO RESPECT

  • @allenglandlawns AKA Getrealandsee,etc.,...so YOU know more about skating than Scott Hamilton?Take your meds!!!

  • Yu-Na Kim was recently named the “Greatest Skater of All-Time” by the people who voted at U.S. Figure Skating’s Facebook page. U.S. Figure Skating had set up an “NCAA tournament-style bracket with 64 of the greatest skaters and duos in the history of the sport.” The skaters were seeded according to on-ice accomplishments, historical significance, and public perception.

  • @getrealandsee Oh, really? Where did Tara and Sarah finish? What about Sasha? Did they all finish ahead of Michelle?

  • IF THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL HIGH QUALITY, I BET YOU HAVE FINGERPRINTS ALL OVER YOUR GLASSES RIGHT NOW.

BUT BETTER THAN NOTHING I GUESS.......

GREAT COMMENTARY BY SCOTT AND THE REST - BUT MOSTLY GREAT CAMERA WORK AND TECHNICAL DIRECTING BY THE NBC CREW TO ZOOM IN TIGHT AND CAPTURE THE EMOTION ON THE FACE, AT THE CLIMAX OF THE CAREER OF A SKATING GENIUS / GODDESS. !!!!! SHE IS SIMPLY THE BEST OF ALL TIME !!!!!!

THANKS NBC FOR THIS GREAT WORK, AND NOT BLOCKING THIS VIDEO....

  • @AVIDEOGAL All capitals? Kwan is NOT the best of all time. Here she is Bronzie Kwanzie and didn't even earn that...that was Sasha's bronze. What arrogance to skate to 'Fields of Gold' and in a Golden costume yet. She brags about that medal but here it is boo hoo snivel snivel...in the interview right before the ceremony she had to be dragged away from the camera because she was given Sasha's bronze and had to skate out first. I don't think anyone REALLY believes that she didn't expect the Gold

  • @getrealandsee If you had a husband or a boyfriend you wouldn't care about Michelle Kwan's costume choice or alleged arrogance. You've been posting nasty things about Michelle Kwan DAILY for YEARS...I'll bet you haven't left your trailer in decades.

  • Such a Beautiful Program this is. I LOVE Michelle!!! But, the HATERS are still following these videos to drop their little dirt again here and there. Sheeeeshhhh! Get Over It Already! Thank you Michelle Kwan for sharing your wonderful and graceful talents with us. You will always be my favorite Skater of All Time!!! Thank you Violayan for Posting.

  • At 3:13, what is that move called?

  • So, does anyone know what happened to that wonderful video...the tribute to the actual WINNER of these Olympics...with Jim McKay...tributes to that other skater are all over the place...what happened to the one on the Olympic Gold Medalist Sarah Hughes?

  • She is a true champion.I don't know anyone else that has so much passion for the sport than her.Perhaps that's why she has competed for so long.

  • ..that dress is the prettiest dress i have ever seen, wow

  • i dont believe some of you people. of course these girls want to be the best on their field, its what competition is all about. but the way your're trashing some of them is just wrong. not everyone will agree on who deserved the metals. even the judges will disagree. i liked all the routines, mistakes or not.

  • This is my favorite performance of hers. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @Twistterclaw101 Yes, this is one of my favorite Kwan performances as well! The shock on her face, the pain, the anger... Considering the amount of damage and pain she gave the sport, watching this phony put on this syrupy sap after the embarrassing performances in SLC is simply DELICIOUS!

  • @jgardell: Isn't it sad that the ugly, career-less has-been Tara Lipinski just spends her whole day everyday bashing Kwan and doesn't even have the courage to use her real name and instead hides under 'allengslandlaws,' 'getrealandsee,' 'ithinkformyself,' kwansangsog,' etc.? What a COWARD. But not s surprise, really, since she was too chicken to compete again after shrieking her wide, ugly mouth to the skies being gifted that OGM...

  • Kwan has become a LEGEND, a hard and bitter slap on the face of the UGLY, CAREER-LESS HAS BEEN Tara Lipinski, otherwise known on Youtube as getrealandsee, allengslandlawns, cleareyed, ithinkformyself, kwansangsog, and her other TROLL identities. And Kwan became one even without having to win the medal that was GIFTED to the UGLY, CAREER-LESS HAS-BEEN Lipinski. Look who has the last laugh now? Ha ha ha ha ha!

  • @jgardell How the hell do you know this is Terror Slutpinski?

  • This is an absolutely amazing video.

  • An emotion on the ice rarely scene...what character and love she exudes...I never cared she won....It kept her competing and giving us such memorable performances and teaching us all that success comes in many packages...No matter what hateful things people say about her on here....she has millions more who lover her and I am proud to be one of her fans....and to honest ALL the talented figure skaters who have shared their gifts with us. What a beautiful sport!

  • my new favorite quote..."Success isnt always measured by a gold medal."

  • @allenglandlawns u so fukin stupid michelle has been using this routine way before this olympics and obviously u know nothing about the song u fucktard and y she used this song. only someone as dumb as u thinkS she turned it into a pity party. babied loser LOL every fuckin time irina doesnt get the gold she whines and pouts and says she deserved it cause her routine was harder and at least michelle can actually skate perfect unlike sasha who falls on her ass every single time!

  • @allenglandlawns oh yes u said it sasha "the True bronze medalist" cause she can never get close to gold. stupid dumb skater cant even skate clean during exhibitions lol. she falls like 10x in her exhibitions and 20x in her competitions. if u gonna rank on someone at least make sure the person u like is an actual champion or has a better record lol. she won what like 1 national title (only cause michelle wasn't there).

  • Why didn't we see that layback position she does at 3:35 in her competition programs. The leg position and turnout are both beautiful.

  • Have never forgotten this performance. She is truly a treasure.

  • I'm a big Kwan fan, but Sarah Hughes definitely deserved the gold medal that night. It was just her moment. But Kwan still skated a magnificent Exhibition program..and how much is this a testament to her heart; with this only being an Ex program yet for it to be one of the most memorable in history? This was Michelle..even with all the accolades, she won people over with her passion and fantastic programs.

  • She is not skating, she is flying...

  • Such an honest performance.

  • this has brought tears to my eyes

she is a beautiful skater who has had an amazing and long courier and nobody can take that away from her :)

  • Haters will always be haters. That's their job. A story will not be complete without a villain. So Michelle's fans (like me) let the hater do her job--we can only hope she gets actually PAID for it. Otherwise, let the hater hate---in the end, all she will get out of hating is a heart disease or a nervous breakdown. Hopefully those two will happen very soon.

  • @allenglandlawns you're an idiot.

  • @allenglandlawns You show your green well. Michelle has more style and grace than Tara. Tara and Sarah were only lucky. That's all. They are nobody's in the sport. Michelle is and will always be a true champion. You don't have to WIN the gold to BE GOLD, and Michelle Kwan is definatley Gold!!!

  • @Glotam1 It appears that Kwan and her worshippers are jealous of Tara and Sarah. Tara and Sarah who WON the Olympic GOLD...who didn't need to hang around a million years...who recognized the moment, cashed in, and moved on with their lives. Kwan would have LOVED to be that "lucky" as you call it. Wouldn't have needed to shove her way into Torino if she didn't. Style, grace, fan worship, cupcake medals?...No amount will ever cover up that she CHOKED gold...

  • @allenglandlawns AKA Getrealandsee, etc... Our reigning gold medalist, Yuna Kim, has named Michelle Kwan her hero...not Tara, not Sarah. Her hero is named Michelle Kwan. Intelligent people understand that inspiring people to be the best they can be is bigger than any title. Yuna is a fraction of your age, yet even she knows that humanity is not defined by the color of a medal. You are an embarrassment...the people who raised you failed miserably. It's no wonder that your only love is youtube!

  • @allenglandlawns "Cashed in???" You are exactly right to use that word. Tara only saw dollar signs, her skatiing showed it. Meanwhile, Michelle skated with passion. Jealous?? What is there to be jealous of? Jealousy shows through you my friend. Your comments are all over this clip. Sounds like you could use your own advice, get a life and quit stalking all of Michelles clips. That's the last thing i have to say to you.

  • @Glotam1 So, Michelle just skated and hung on forever w/o thought of money...she intentionally lost/failed at two Olympics and then because of her passion for skating lied and cheated another skater out of her dream so she could try again to fail since she didn't care about money? Tara had a true passion for skating and it showed. Even if your thinking was true and I totally disagree if Tara was in it for the money she most certainly earned every dime she made and is an Olympic Gold Medalist:)

  • @getrealandsee Out of one side of your mouth you brag about Tara and the prestige of winning Olympic gold...out of the other side of your mouth you tout a "greatest skater in history" list that places Brian Orser above TWO TIME Olympic champ Dick Button. Is it substance abuse??? Or are you just incredibly stupid???

  • @Glotam1 OMG...is Glotam1 serious?? Tara skated for a short time...won Nats, Worlds, and the Olympic Gold and she was in it just for the money..how utterly totally beyond words ..I do believe that the Olympics are about PASSION and COURAGE, INTEGRITY...and Tara Lipinski is the youngest Nats, Worlds, and Olympic Champion in history. Tara's skating was true PURE

passion which is why she is the 1998 Olympic Gold Medalist despite every effort to give it to Shelly. IMO Glotam1's comment is nuts

  • @getrealandsee AKA allenglandlawns...Speaking of nuts, you've posted for YEARS that Tara and Sarah are superior to Michelle by virtue of Olympic gold..recently, in an effort to insult Michelle, you touted that "greatest skater in history" list which named Yuna Kim number 1. I challenged you to tell us where Tara and Sarah finished on that list in relation to Michelle, and to also explain how Brian Orser finished ahead of two time Olympic champ, Dick Button. I wonder why are you avoiding??? LOL!!

  • @getrealandsee AKA allenglandlawns Well, you sure are bragging about Tara and her gold medal...almost as much as you were bragging about the authenticity of that "greatest skater in history list"...but you won't tell anyone where Tara, with her pure skating, finished on that list in relation to Michelle. Is it possible that she didn't even make the list? You aren't so stupid as to endorse a list that contradicts your contention that Tara is superior to Michelle are you??? ARE YOU??? ROTFLMAO!!!

  • Never has music and skating come together quite like this.

  • @getrealandsee You are one crude and hateful commenter. Am surprised people like you watch figure skating. Although I have my favourites, I don't talk down on others who are not favourites. You must be one miserable person, full of hate and venom.

  • @spikydurian Actually, Getrealandsee is two miserable people, as she and Allenglandlawns are one and the same. She uses multiple usernames so that it appears that the hateful venom she spews about Michelle Kwan has support. She's an obsessed fanatic who is either one of Michelle's former competitors or someone related to a former competitor of Michelle's. She's a Sasha Cohen fanatic but pretends to love Sarah and Tara most because they won Olympic gold over Michelle. I think she's quite ill.

  • its almost as if eva sang this song just for michelle. the song itself is a great but michelle made it even better

  • its almost as if eva sang this song just for michelle

  • This video is fake and gay

  • @ElgartheWise What the hell? Please elaborate.

  • @Karosanyo Damn, can't a troll do its work without people questioning it, these days?

  • @ElgartheWise Well, I just thought that statement was silly. Don't "troll" if you don't want to be questioned...

  • this woman stole the heart of the world. The passion she exudes is why people love ice skating. Without artistry it's nothing but empty tricks and maneuvers.

Michelle Kwan always skated with her heart on her sleeve, got up after a fall, tried for gold, and left the audience on their feet. And she will always be remembered.

  • @getrealandsee So many people lose at Olympics...how wonderful it is that Michelle had 9 national and 5 world titles to drown her sorrows in. No other skater, including your favorite Sasha, is so fortunate =(

  • @MissThingSings Sasha would have been lucky to win a medal in Vancouver. Mira Nagasu skated much better then Sasha but only managed fourth because the skating was at such a high level.

  • @getrealandsee With every hateful word, you reveal yourself to be deeply mentally ill.

  • @getrealandsee What you are is an ugly excuse for a human being. Hate is immoral -- and you are nothing more or other than hateful.

And we all recoginze your bitter jealousy for what it is.

  • @getrealandsee Emily sucks?

  • I cry every at the end of this.

  • I'm no skater but she looks like she's in love and dancing with the iced floor. Does that make sense? It's an amazing performance, skating or not.

  • Meh. Agree to disagree. But that's a lot of gold medals for just a beauty pageant.

  • @allenglandlawns Diminished skating's credibility as a sport? How do you reason? She elevated skating's credibility as a performance art while maintaining its athletisism. 9 national titles and 5 world championships weren't just happenstance. That's athletic longevity and consistency that nobody has matched. Would love to say the same for Tara, Sarah, and Sasha, but can't. Amazing skaters that either diappeared or couldn't do two consistent performances in a row.

  • Skating isn't about gold...its about heart...it's about winning over yourself...and that requires sincerity and courage. The audience loves skating and skaters love skating because it is transcendent-I love that Michelle Kwan came back a year later and WON the 2003 World Championships...Boo Ya! and subsequently became the most decorated United States skater....EVER!!! HELLURRR!

  • @getrealandsee It must bust your chops to no end -- even during your nightmares -- that the vast majority of the world is against you about Michelle Kwan. Tell us, dip-shit: if you're correct in your view, why are you so thoroughly outnumbered? And tell us, shit-head, why the whole world is wrong; how all those standing ovations were given to Kwan because those who gave them are fools.

Or be honest: tell us why you hate yourself so thoroughly that you can't keep it to yourself.

  • @getrealandsee It's too bad that you're so angry you feel compelled to spread negativity in our common space.

  • @djwertheimer :):)

  • @djwertheimer though getrealandsee writes comments in an "in your face" kind of way, it really is true that Michelle diminished skating's credibility as a sport. How come there is so much venom describing Tara and Sarah when talking about Michelle? Yes, she has beautiful moves, but truth is that Tara and Sarah EARNED their golds through determination, gutsy, and athletic performances. And not by reputation and popularity. This is first and foremost a sport, NOT a beauty pageant.

  • @allenglandlawns I agree that Sarah and Tara earned their gold medals...no question there. @getrealandsee has just a little too much bitterness when it comes to Michelle however. Artistry is a HUGE part of figure skating and Michelle had marvelous edges which both Tara and Sarah lacked. If compulsory figures were brought back...it woud have really shown Kwan's all-around gifts for skating.

  • @pwinks84 Yes! You are so right. Michelle is a throwback to the days when this sport favored clean edging and artistry. She was simply living in the wrong era. Today, its athletes are performing powerful jumps, fast spins, and complicated steps. She didn't push the sport in that direction as Tara and Sarah did.

  • @allenglandlawns Tara's tiny jumps and pre-rotating them in the air would have been destroyed by the COP now.

  • @pwinks84 I still don't think Tara deserved hers. Sarah, yes, but not Tara.

    PR diplomacy in Salt Lake

John Arenberg is Emory sports information director

Lots of interesting and honest info in this article if you dare to read anything not gushing or swooning over cwybaby kwan. Her drama show in Nagano...oh Frank, OMG Frank is really great (of course it was supposed to be a historical record of her win, not loss) what a P H O N Y

  • Namely, that judging results are predetermined by reputation and that only major spills can alter the outcome. That if Kwan fell down three times, she would still get at least a bronze medal because of her stature in the sport.

  • Kwan rarely received the highest technical mark in competitions. She was often outscored in many meets, but the rule is that the ARTISTIC mark was the tiebreaker in those days, and she was BY FAR the most interpretive skater of her day, if not of all time, which is why she was very often a winner over someone who could do a triple/triple but bore you to tears or just be graceful. Michelle was much more than that...she was never "given" wins, which is why she has a bronze/silver Olympic medals.

  • @getrealandsee What the fuck is your problem! I don't mind that not every is a fan of Michelle, but when you attack her personally just proves your bitterness and immaturity. Sasha should have went back to skating 101 and learn to use her edges correctly instead of relying on her flexibility masked as artistry. FYI, Michelle did elevate skating into high art. With Frank and Lori on her team they created many masterpieces, so go wallow on your bitterness.

  • @getrealandsee You're not bitter??? You have been stating the same repetitious nonsense now for years!!!! You're so obsessed with Michelle Kwan that it's pathetic. Your posts about her sound very bitter. Why would you waste your time stating the same vindictive garbage over and over if Kwan wasn't worth it? You keep telling yourself that...

  • She gives me goosebumps whenever she skates. She makes the audience feels her emotions.
