  • gorgeous singing

  • i got to meet the guitar player rusty in the soo while i was on a bicycle trip. i went on my way, but later, i met up with him & mary margaret o'hara at the yearly st. patrick's jam at the horseshoe. i got to have my arm around rusty & my arm around mary & we huddled while i told them how special it was to be able to be standing there sharing that moment with them......i am in love with this woman, who the heck isn't? and those guitar riffs! beauts.

  • will never be anyone better. loved her since young. in uk. absolute force of nature.

  • One of the finest exports from our beautiful country. Her music doesn't age, it just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for posting!

  • Wrong to my specific comentators.....Don Van V... Moon Dog..Sun Ra,,

Phillip Glass..The Residents......The Great Frank Zappa....

Rusty MaCarthy seems to contour her work.....not control it...... I find her and her band unique toward the pop world by pays a large

    debt to other musical sounds...............

  • Mary kind of does the Elaine dance. Very endearing.

  • @evelynjoyce You sure Elaine doesn't do the Mary dance?

  • I actually don't think it's bad dancing, it's some sort of authentic expression of something - I agree with the Alan Partridge remark. She seems to deliberately interrupt her own phrasing to suggest whatever it is - changes of course in feeling or perception - and it looks as if those hand and foot gestures help this along. I've actually seen her do some very slinky, sexy, rhythmic dancing when she's covering the more smoothly melodious songs of others...

  • @lidsvillebrown I agree with you; she uses the movements to structure her phrasing. Anyway, whenever I try to sing like her I have a sudden onset of dyspraxia!

My favourite singer & album ever.

  • probably the best vocal performance ever in rock music, nice to finally see it live

  • wow, she's really feeling it, and yes she is a bad dancer, reminds me of me. wow, what a vocie!

  • So glad to have found others who this track means something to. This and Body's in Trouble have always been on any compilation I've ever made. Awesome. Does anyone know where this was filmed? I saw her at Hammersmith Odeon in the late 80s and this looks very much like that gig. Same guitar and bass player and I'm sure she was wearing the same blouse!! Is that Rusty McCarthy on guitar there? What an extraordinary talent.

  • @llintilla Yeah I was at the Hammersmith gig..it looks like it doesn't it?

  • @hairymarx I was at Hammersmith gig too but I distinctly remember she wore a yellow dress with a cape then. This looks like The Dominion Tottenham Court Rd which I also saw.

  • Always loved her. My god, she's weird on stage! Such an awesome singer. She's beautiful too.

  • This woman is the beginning and end of truly

unique music....I dare you to find anyone on

    her musical plain.....

  • Captain Beefheart? Moon Dog? The Residents? Sun Ra? Frank Zappa? Philip Glass?

  • i've never seen such a bad dancer onstage btw! great song

  • she reminds me of alan partridge in a way, i hesitated posting this first time i saw it but i'm rewatching it now and immediately i make the connection again, i think it's something in the hand movements, kinda trying to roll the song forward

  • I can't get enough of her, she's amazing.

  • Can you tell me where these videos came from and if you have more?
