Speaking of "homesick", my bro and I were driving back down from Chicago a few months back. And when we were in Tennessee we picked up a N. GA station playing an entire ARS album. We teared up a little and were thankful we were just about home to ATL. Even now, ARS welcomes you home! LOVE 'EM!!!

  • Where was I? in jr. hi....trying to "kiss the sky", and getting those posters of Jimi& Janice. This song says it all.....RIP Mr. Ronnie Hammond. I saw you way back when and rocked out to your music. You kicked Marshall Tuckers' butt that night in Seattle. That was back in '82, and not '69....but the memories are just as good. Rock on in that place you maybe rock-n-roll heaven or rock-n-roll hell.....ya know they got one great band!

  • Are they in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame?

  • power chords! yeah!!

  • Thank you, man...I'll see if I can find it somewhere.

  • I remember when this song came out- 1981- I was 16- in retrospect to me this was a symbolic end to the 70's- really the last Southern Rock song they played on a consistent basis at least on FM radio in the NYC area before attention began to turn to 80's New Wave and Hair Bands.

On a similar note- 10 years later I always considered the song "Unbelievable" by EMF to be the symbolic end of the 80's right before the Grunge era unfolded.

  • @ohso41 weird - "unbelievable" sounds so 90s to me. sounds like something shitty like oasis almost (little better though)

  • @torstn

Actually it fits in right with the pre grunge era- bands like inxs, big audio dynamite, midnight oil, janes addiction,

fine young cannibals etc- To me the the 1990's officially began with Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit.

  • @ohso41 well i always consider 80s equals slick mainstream (overproduced of course ;)) and 90s equals more alternative music... so while unbelievable is not 100% alternative it tends more in that direction so i always think of the 90s with it.... to me all the artists you mention is not the typical 80s music (well only if you are into alternative/indie) well midnight oil and fyc is

  • @torstn

There was lots of alternative stuff that came out in the 80's.

REM, the older U2 stuff, Psychedelic Furs (pre pretty in pink) The Pixies, Concrete Blonde just off the top of my head. The late 80's was definitely leaning alternative, anyway, EMF seemed in my opinion to have more in common with the pre grunge stuff versus post grunge stuff (IE Bush, Live, Seven Mary Three, and later on Creed)

  • @ohso41 i guess so, but thats not what the 80s were and are known for, they are known for phil collins type pop music... and thats what i like... besides henry rollins theres not too much alternative / indie that i like, eg i like the "THE THE" videos from 1986 )

  • Is it on any live albums with Ronnie Hammond? What studio album is it on? Thanks, Sam

  • @sammsw1 qinella 1981

  • @sammsw1 qinella 1981
