  • luv u......ur always here ......

  • happy birthday

  • she is explaining wealth of poor people.A real peace and treasure of poor.Very Nice.

  • Prof Jee:

    You are absolutely delightful.

You have been so generous to us thousands for years.

There is NO WAY we can thank you enough

  • shame on you shakeb shame...........

  • I hate shakeb for saying that madhubala is not beautiful and from which angle does she look ugly in this clip man....you should feel some shame before talking about such a great star in bad taste wat do you know of her, her life and struggle......think before you speak..........

  • I cannot believe that we are getting 40's footage, such a treasure. Adorably sung by Madhu or someone else. The kid really doesn't have any resemblance to the Madhu Bala that all of us know....those greek/sharp features, sparkling eyes. I could be simply wrong!

  • @Voltairec Thanks for giving your opinion. I am happy to report that you are absolutely wrong. Do some research, read some old 40s magazines.

  • @surjit1234 I am actually delighted to be wrong! I absolutely identify with the golden era of Hindi cinema though I was born in disco dancer generation. I came across 'tere sadhke balam' from Amar and stood transfixed by Madhubala's pristine acting and much commented 'classic' beauty. I cannot think of any modern songs that can do this....I am sitting here 1000s miles from India and just keep coming back to this gems.

  • @Voltairec I am 8,818 miles from Mumbai, where the movie made. I fell in love with Madhubala in the 50s. I could not sleep for two days when a friend sent me a copy of Basant 1942!

  • @surjit1234 sir can u share with me the copy of Basant..i am doing a research on Madhubala...my email address is skyrider_salman@yahoo.com

  • can any one told me from where madhu family belongs in peshawar

  • Dad worked for Imperial Tobacco

    Company in Peshawar, came to

    Bombay in 1940.

  • although she was born in Peshawar, her features clearly indicate that her family had connection with valley of Swat. A detailed study of her family roots may prove that

  • a lovely girl, a future star!!!! RIP Mumtaz!!

  • Singer: Shanti Sudha Ghosh,

(daughter of Parul and Pannalal Ghosh. )

  • Please tell me the basis of your comment.

  • Please tell me why you think so.

  • please google her name.

thee is a blog of Atul bollywood, he has details.

also my late uncle had the 78 rpm record of this movie.

so I knew from the record.

  • Madhubala is like a full moon. You may find defects in moon when you look too closely but there is nothing more beautiful in skies than moon in reference beauty and symbol for love. Madhubala's beauty is unquestionable to most people including myself. Yes we must speak our honest openion even when others differ.

She as a child, must have been of the best singer of her times. I love her songs.

I wish she was still alive.

  • I figure I expressed adverse,disapproving

aswellas unfavourable but fair comments and

judgements of Madhubalas apperance only not of her acting talent My dear alternative thinker which were probably spurned widely

by her fanatics and arse lickers onthe you tube.

  • Lol!!!!

  • A very curious and funny message regarding height boosting surgery was misdirected to you tube by some unaccountable mistake of my younger brother who only cares about his height with a devotion bordering on obsession.

He is 5feet10inches but he wants to get6feet

2 inches so he wrote to betz institute using

my name and computer inorder to obtain informations regarding height enhancement surgery but unfortunately dueto some

inexplicable reason and his reckless mistake

    his message

  • I suggest that a brain surgery would be more appropriate in your case to in order to elevate your intellectual height, rather.

  • I am a cambridge guy born and bred

and educated in cambridge university and you

are doomed to lose the battle each time you

    clash with

...and you say, you´re a Cambridge guy...!

  • No sir, your boasting won´t do!!! There´s no sense in deviating from the topic. If you could add some out-dated vocabulary to your message, doesn´t mean that you are convincing. You understood very well what I initially meant. Besides, we aren´t holding any English language classes here. Your problem seems to be of a complete different nature. You´re pitiable. (bedauernswert)!

  • Mr. Shakeeb111

Did you ever know the saying: beauty lies in the eyes of beholder!? God knows how and where do you get all the energy and motivation to waste your time on finding faults in humans who are long been gone, and if there´re people having pleasure in admiring Madhubala, how are you being bothered by that!? Strange???

  • Mrkqs92

Iam sure you stayed indoors ages painstakingly and ponderously practising and swotting up this threadbare, flyblown and

    motheaten stinking wornout English proverb

not German that beauty is inthe eye of the beholder.I reckon you wont mind pal if I correct you on account of your dreadfully and hopelessly erroneous lousy crap pidgin

German english with a limited vocabulary which you boastfully and shamelessly speak

and write.Actually it is beauty is in the eye of the beholder

  • 2 it is not beauty lies in the eyes of beholder.I have been conversant with this english proverb ever since my childhood.

probably you are not aware of this proverb.

so I shall suggest you pal never try to teach your grand father(mother) to suck eggs

because I am a cambridge guy born and bred

and educated in cambridge university and you

are doomed to lose the battle each time you

clash with me because youre as thick as two

shortplanks and reacted like a bear with a

    sorehead to me

  • 3) for my recent comments to your sweetheart

Madhubala inorder to stickup for just a whore

and vehemently antagonize a gentle man like me

who never did you wrong.Shame on you.

  • I suggest allthe indians who regard madhubala as the most beautiful woman inthe

whole wide world must critically watch this clip taken from the movie Basant of

cross eyed and crooked toothed, unsightly child star madhubala who they think has

miraculously blossomed into a most beautiful

woman against all expectations, just in order

to change their firmly ingrained ideas

of her beauty instilled by madhu in their

    head.

  • Madhubala isn't the only person who was not exactly pretty as a child and grew up to be a

beauty - I'm sure we all know people like that. And others who were adorable as kids and grew up to be unattrative - what's your point?

  • Dear shamim

Thank you very much seeking my views regarding madhubalas metamorphosis from an

unattractive little girl to a most beautiful

woman inthe whole wide world but in actual fact she wasnot as beautiful and glamorous as

she was cracked up to be by most of indian

    and pakistani movie lovers.

I dont reckon the miracle of turning a boy

and a girl from ugly to most stunningly handsome, beautiful man and woman ever performed by Almighty God inthe world apart

    fromin fairy tales.

  • (2)No doubt people can change upto some extent but it is highly improbable that they

can be transformed completely upto this extravagant extent from ugly to stunner.

so for my money madhu was not as charming as she is

    erroneously and unjustifiably believed and

    lauded by her fanatics.

  • One can't imagine a girl of 9 possessing such a talent -- all the more interesting to know that she herself sang the song! A very, very natural performer in all respects she was! All the human emotions and feelings she could portray with so much ease -- and in a natural flow!

There is another clipping from the same film, I think, where she is also surrounded by three more actors -- Mehmood's father, et al!

    Enjoyed both.

  • Thanks for thegreat clip n the info. My eldest brother n his friends use to sing this song and I remember all the words even now. Ratan film's songs also became so popular1

  • Wow! she is singing so maturely, she could have been a singer too.

Who would have thought such a simple chubby cute and innocent young girl like her would turn into legendry beautiful heroine of India.MADHUBALA!!!

  • Thank you for shairng this wonderfjul and precious clip. It should be archived for posterity. Even at age 9, she was a naural actress.

  • Parul Ghosh on Baby Mumtaz (who later became famous as Madhubala) in Basant (1942). Pannalal Ghosh's music on Pyarelal Santoshi's lyrics.

  • You are wrong! According to Anil Biswas he composed the tunes (Panna Babu did only the orchestration) and here Baby Mumtaz sang it herself.

  • chandrashekhargupta is 98/100 times accurate.. just found him wrong twice :) However hes an asset to youtube ..am saying this though i neva had a chance to talk to him :)

  • Thank you so much for posting these sweet little songs sung by the precocious and utterly poised-- and cute as a button-- Madhubala at age 9. A natural performer, I dare say. No wonder she grew up to do every role with seemingly effortless talent and carved out a special place for herself as the finest of the finest actress in the history Indian cinema and in the hearts of millions. These clips are gems.

  • Thanks for the video. Great clip.

  • she's sooo cute- it sounds and looks like she's actually singing the song

  • She is! This is her own voice!!!

  • Wonderful, nostalgic clip. Thank you for posting.

  • Prof. Saheb thanks for this GREAT clip,

  • ji Shukriya aur Meri taraf say warm welcome ...to the Living Legend :) with best wishes as its a jungle out there on youtube and u'll come across every sort of music lover here.. ranging from layman like me and music-scholars like Kianwar and wonderful Rare Indian Songs Video uploaders like Lady SRazdan :)
