its Momo! I had no idea he was based on an actually real life animal. Though Momo could actually fly i believe. Flying lemurs can only glide. Strange how until now I never knew these existed.
flying lemur, colugo?,what's all the fuss?. Spotting it in the trees is already a challenge, capturing it on video while mating must have been exhilarating!!. A wonderful animal. Pesut thanks for sharing the video.
From my understanding it's not clear about the Chyroptera link, certainly their morphology does not resemble bats. "Dermoptera" they are termed, more like the flying Squirrels we get here in the new world... (But no redents for sure). Perhaps there will be a genome which will explain all!
Thank you for posting this fabulous video of these amazing, unusual, unique beings!
Only if you want a bullet in the eye, freak! These are amazing creatures, and you need to be fossilized soon and stop wasting their oxygen-- are you really that stupid and shallow??
Based on the comments here, yeap, "flying lemur" can be misleading. I used flying lemur as that is the name people use at Bako National Park where the footage was shot. Even the park rangers and staff refer to these animals as flying lemurs or the local name 'kubung'. The local name is a bit misleading as it can be used for flying lemurs/colugo and flying squirrels.
The prior phylogeny tree I looked at had these guys related to Chyroptera (bats), now they appear related to primates. WOW! What creatures! Flyinglemurlove....
My facts are right, they are called flying lemurs or colugo. Both names are correct. See the Field Guide to the Mammals of Borneo. Whilst they are similar to flying squirrels there are not.
These are colugos (Dermoptera in Greek), a unique mammal which is sometimes called flying lemur because that's what they look like, but aren't real lemurs, which don't have wings and are only in Madagascar.

Search for yourself to get your facts right. They are called colugo or flying lemurs. Looks like you've made yourself look the ass.
