  • i never actually listened to this band until today and they are my new favorite. pisses me off when i hear bands now that i should have heard 20 years ago (hum, chavez, afghan whigs, etc.) thanks for uploading!

  • it's a crying shame that this band didn't get more recognition in the 90's. Stupid C&C music factory, Stupid Nirvana, Stupid Eminem.Stupid boybands.

  • man... it makes me think of the ol' days back in the 'Nati. *sigh* Y'all have no idea how much fun it was to be in college in that town when these guys ruled the local scene.

  • They pulled quite a fucking crowd back then.

  • why afghan?do they have any reltionship with Afghanistan??

  • I keep listening to this, over and over...

  • best song ever

  • badass.

and Greg Dulli can't get any sexier!

  • (when he's young and thin) haha

  • its this the pink pop festival??

  • this song was released uspionic, it was on "congregation" track # 12 it's even mixed a bit better. check it out

  • How come this song was never released? Its awesome! What a cool riff!

  • God I miss this band....and the days of amazing music like this...Whigsbitch - way to bring me back to a time when music was all that I really cared about...

  • Yes! Absolutely! Such a great band!

    especially:

    -'conjure me'

    -'debonair'

    -'gentlemen'

  • I am going to add Honkey's Ladder to your list, if you dont mind. lol

  • @uspsionic I am Going to town ;-)

  • Im gonna add "my enemy" to that list

  • So do I.

  • wow

    don't forget the afghan wigs

    they are brilliant.

  • I have almost forgotten how great this band was!

  • Fantastic!

  • what sort of tele is dulli playing there?

  • i think it´s a rosewood tele

  • i love that guitar sound!!Great post!!

  • The Afghan Whigs are one of the greatest american bands ever. And Duli is one of the most inspirational singers-poets-performers. Maybe cause he is half Greek :P

i love them, thanks for posting mate

  • Thanks for this post. Excellent stuff!

  • still nice !!!

  • Fantastic post. Thanks a lot.

  • Not bad for a bunch of schumcks from Ohio

  • I went to this gig, it was awesome... Pinkpop in Holland 1994

  • fuck, these guys are class

  • I think that someone already said, but it was May 1994 or something like that.

btw, does anyone know what happened to some of the Whigs video that used to be up here? There was alive Honky's Ladder clip and the video for Gentlelemen but btoh seemed to have dissapeared.

  • When was this concert???

  • this was at the Pinkpop Festival on 5/23/94

  • Yeah, but the great thing is, he's clean now and he's still got it!

  • Not Dulli!?! Say it ain't so.

  • diossss

  • Greatest band ever know! Greg would usually step away from ragging choruses to prevent losing his voice towards the end of sets. I would hope that everyone would listen to the LP version of this song before making an opinion of this performance in which I find astoundingly great!

  • The choruses have a great Neil Young and Crazy Horse feel to them. This was about the end of the unpolished Whigs era. The keyboards and backup singers would come on the Black Love tour.

This looks like between Congregation and Gentlemen. Does anyone know the date of the performance.

  • i think the date was 5/23/1994

  • I could have a 4 disc box set of different live versions of this song and it still wouldn't be enough...thank you so much for posting this. I have never seen him looking better, either.

  • I'm boozing on some of Greg's fave liquor Blanton's right now.

  • Scousedog, consider it done!

  • Whigsbitch, I heard that the Whigs released an official live video of When We Two Parted. Around the time of Gentlemen.

  • i have been looking for When When We Two Parted with no luck! :-(

  • OOOOH BABY! There was a great video of this song made. If anyone's got it they need to upload it here quick.

  • fucking awesome......Don't forget the ALCOHOL

  • amazing

  • don't forget the alcohol..... :)

  • Fucking awesome!

  • Dulli is high.

This is from the Whigs ragged glory era of Congregation/Gentlemen. No backup singers of keyboards. I loved when Steve Earle era.

  • Sullivan, Dulli was always high!
