It's funny how no one seems to realize this is a copy (albeit a good one) of the original song called "We got More Soul" by the incredible "Dyke and the Blazers"
I know what you mean.. it definitely sounds a guy (even though I have heard some girls that sound like that!). That's why I thought it might be Ronnie Marks (he's done other similar vocals for Mongo).... but... the liner notes on the album don't say anything other than what I put down in my first note....
No singer listed on the liner notes (from Mongo's "Workin' on a Groovy Thing" album).. but.. it does have the following note: "Special thanks to Jackie Horowitz and the Columbia Records Secretaries on the first floor of 49 East 52nd Street, featuring Suzanne for special effects on "We Got Latin Soul".... Whoever the singer was (maybe Suzanne?), it seems like they weren't interested in getting their full name on the record! Great song though...
