Although Nox Arcana are epic, they seem to have made a hideous mistake here. Dagon and Cthulhu are two seperate entities, both Great Old Ones.

Lovecraft mentioned this, although it could an August Derleth thing...he re-wrote the entire Mythos and really fucked up, in my opinion.

I believe that Cloverfield was a Deep One and is possibly Father Dagon or Mother Hydra themselves. Look up the manga on the Slusho website, read about Deep Ones in the Necronomicon (by HP Lovecraft) and use a little imagination. HP's descriptions were left a little vague so it left some room for artistic interpertation. His descriptions are coupled with a lot of adjectives that give a foreboding and sickening feeling while you read so your mind is drawn to imagine more than what you read.

Quite intentional. Idols or statues were designed as phallic objects for multiple reasons. One was because it showed male dominance and superiority. Another reason was a center of fertility; the phallus would 'fertilize' the land, house-hold, or region it was set in.
