the 5 on the E string and the 7 on the E string are harmonics, so put your finger on the string, without pushing hard on it or sth, just put your finger on the 5th frap and hit the string, then you get the harmonic which is actually the right one to play. oh and your tuning is wrong as well, its played in DropD

okay so why does LP's guitar playing always sound... uhh... "full" if you will. Like when I play alone, it sounds like just a plain empty guitar (I know that I don't have other instruments to fill in sound). So is it the types of chords that Brad Delson uses? The distortion/gain or is it 'cause in songs like One Stp Closer, Pheonix playes the same thing but on his bass? Does anyone one even know what I'm trying to say or do?

i think i know wat your trying to say......and well if your playing the harmonics right it should sound fine with your standard distortion.....if your using a mega distortion pedal....well those sound like shit unless on a tube amp.....so if its wat your saying it is the distortion cuz they got some kick ass effects

Yeah cause of the harmonics plus a little distortion and the fancy amps... Also the guitar is significantly louder than the bass and the drums, so they both kinda just fade in and make you think its all guitar...

harmonic means that you take for example the 5th fret on the e-string, put your finger on the string, right above the fret (right above the metal piece) and pick it. don't press it down with your finger, the string mustn't touch the neck

that's how you play harmonics
