I may come from the UK but when you hear this voice and the rest of the group it makes me feel really good. I may be an old codger but this is quality at it's best. May they go on making sweet music for years to come. Listening to it brings back happy childhood memories which will never die, I salute Ireland for it's brilliant songs.
@libby7356 Thanks for your comment regarding The CATS - I had not heard of it - found it on utube and like you I think it is indeed a brilliant version.
Rember this song from when i was very young. Reminds me of my grandparents, a grandad who would call down and wake the local pharmicist at home to get ear drops for me in the middle of the night as I was crying with the pain of my ear. I have tears streaming down my face now....special memories
is davey is famous as he effir wants to be. what a special voice. soft and grittle when he chooses. his rendition o the green fields of france always make me cry. i had an anscester watching his brother dying for no reason so i prefer to listen to the song when it.s raining
this remind's me of my irish childhood growing up in england and my father singing this to my sister as a youg girl. who has passed on before him with cancer love you sis
This recording of Finbar was made decades ago but his singing never ceases to move me. The conviction in his voice is palpable. No one does it with more emotion. Thanks, Finbar.
"Scarlet Ribbons (For Her Hair)" is a popular song. The music was written by Evelyn Danzig, the lyrics by Jack Segal, at Ms. Danzig's home on Long Island. The song was published in 1949.
Can anyone help me verify this - in the early 1960s, didn't Wayne Newton perform this on an episode of "Bonanza"? It's an image I can't shake after all these years - it made such an impression!
Brings back memories, this is just so beautiful and sad too. Is this song Irish ? as it's very old, and I heard it when I was a child, and I am 59 now. I have never heard it played as beautifully as this though.
In memory of my farther. Arthur James Duffy passed away 8th January 1972. Love you Daddy. You left us too soon...

It's one of those songs everyone thinks is old, but it was only written in 1949, by Evelyn Danzig and Jack Segal. A lovely tune.
