Set is crucifying the king of humanity Jesus of Nazereth, which was captured well in this video. Well, some churches may be boring, but it isn't necessarily that way. In my church we've played lots of music; we have people from the age of 5 to the age of 70, and yet we've played psalms, hard rock and (Christian) death metal there! I'm not part of the Protestant or the Catholic chruch, I'm a member of a "free-church", not sure what it's called in English. My point is, going to church is boring if you allow it to be boring, it depends on if you participate in the church or not!

I'd like to add to that, as a Christian and a metalhead myself. I'm not a member of any of the churches, because, quite frankly, they have enough blood on their hands as it is, and I want no part of it. As far as "satanists" go; what makes you think that satanic stuff gets limited to rock/metal music? Go listen to Eminem's Demon Inside or 3 AM, and take a look at the lyrics. Most satanists, unless they are theistic satanists, don't even BELIEVE in a God/Devil.

There are A LOT of Christians who enjoy all sorts of metal - what do you think is with the rise of Christianity in metal beginning in the 90's? I'm a huge Iced Earth fan, but a very strict Christian. This song doesn't breed hate towards Christianity, it's a fictional story about Christ's crucifixion being set up by 'Set Abominae,' and it's part of an entire story that revolves around Set Abominae - who has been called an antichrist by Schaffer himself.
Also, Schaffer has stated he believes in God, but due to incidents in his past by Christians who know nothing of what they preach (I'm not against churches or other Christians, just the hypocrites), he's against organized religion. He wouldn't be close friends with other Christians either if he had such hate towards God.
Just because he says that he believes in God doesn`t mean squat. I saw IE in concert once and Schaffer said that Christ was "a great man and teacher" - he didn`t say "Lord" or "God". His albums are not biblical - they are Esoteric if anything.
"Melancholy" supposedly praises Jesus, but have you really checked the lyrics? For example:
Saying the human spirit cannot die does not sound anti-Christian at all to me. Talking about the spirit at all already breaches religious borders. I can't exactly justify the second part other than with personal interpretations such as dying because of the pain we cause others. Regardless, it does attempt to portray Jesus in a positive light, even if perhaps from a view of a non-Christian. There's also the fact that the full name is Melancholy (Holy Martyr). Holy.
That song is about Christ's night at the garden of Gethsemane. He was full of sorrow over what was soon to come. It makes sense, if you ask me. I never said he claimed to be Christian - I just said he believes in God. So many people anymore bread hatred towards Christianity and the belief of God - even some of my own friends do. Would you rather that? And what about the Jewish? Are you to condemn them now for not believing in Jesus as savior? That would go directly against the Bible.

In any event i also belive the real bible is a a work of fiction. The bible has been revised updated, & has had parts omited as deemed necessary throughout it's existance. Guys here's the deal. Shaffer is not an Athiest. He has very strong beliefs regarding the divine, but he does not subscribe to a denomination of any religion. He was raised by a VERY strict Lutheran family. I myself am a Catholic. Many of my friends are athiest, I listen to Iced Earth every day and Love every ass kicking, hate inspiring minute of it. Wow, nice video. In essence, the song illustates Set Abominae's manipulation of history to accomplish his purposes. Set is crucifying the king of humanity Jesus of Nazereth, which was captured well in this video. Well, some churches may be boring, but it isn't necessarily that way. In my church we've played lots of music; we have people from the age of 5 to the age of 70, and yet we've played psalms, hard rock and (Christian) death metal there! I'm not part of the Protestant or the Catholic chruch, I'm a member of a "free-church", not sure what it's called in English. My point is, going to church is boring if you allow it to be boring, it depends on if you participate in the church or not!

If he hadn't given us the choice we would be puppets on a string! He WANTS you to learn from your faults, he doesn't say "You SHALL!" I'd like to add to that, as a Christian and a metalhead myself. I'm not a member of any of the churches, because, quite frankly, they have enough blood on their hands as it is, and I want no part of it. As far as "satanists" go; what makes you think that satanic stuff gets limited to rock/metal music? Go listen to Eminem's Demon Inside or 3 AM, and take a look at the lyrics. Just because he says that he believes in God doesn`t mean squat. I saw IE in concert once and Schaffer said that Christ was "a great man and teacher" - he didn`t say "Lord" or "God". His albums are not biblical - they are Esoteric if anything.

I can't exactly justify the second part other than with personal interpretations such as dying because of the pain we cause others. Regardless, it does attempt to portray Jesus in a positive light, even if perhaps from a view of a non-Christian. There's also the fact that the full name is Melancholy (Holy Martyr). Holy.

That song is about Christ's night at the garden of Gethsemane. He was full of sorrow over what was soon to come. It makes sense, if you ask me. I never said he claimed to be Christian - I just said he believes in God. So many people anymore bread hatred towards Christianity and the belief of God - even some of my own friends do. @konman001 Yeah, um, I'm a very outspoken Christian and I love metal, black metal, death metal, and all that. This story is not Satanic, you just have to know the whole thing to get it. Sure I'm uncomfortable with the song's premise, but I still like it. And if you're a Christian then you shouldn't be insulting others for their beliefs - unless they're Satanic, in my opinion - and you really shouldn't be cursing.

I`m not saying that all metal music glorifies Satan but alot of it does and it breeds spiritual stupidity.

Just because someone made a video utilizing clips from The Passion of Christ - does not mean that the song is about Jesus.
Also. . . Schaffer makes it clear the song is about an alien who (disguised as a man) will kill humanity and will assasinate great leaders (from Jesus Christ to Kennedy). . . also the "hero" of the story is referred to as an "antichrist"
The imagery attached to the song portrays Egyptian pagan worship symbols and idols.

If you are referring to some Christians within denominations who are corrupted because they obey human philosophies as opposed to the word of God then it is TRUE - I`ve seen it happen myself. But IT IS NOT THE WORD OF GOD that is corrupting them. By obeying human philosphies people become disobedient to the word of God and do evil.
