It also states that rejecting allah is the worst crime. These aayats are probably showing the whole scenerio... In quran there are different events. These aayats are based on a war situation... And show the help of the muslims by Allah in the war. @9chak There is one and only way to understand quran - to READ it the way it IS written, not the way you think it was supposed to be written. All quranic verses stand on their own and despite having or having not references to other verses each one of them is supposed to carry some sort of eternal and divine truth for muslims. If a quranic verse says that non-muslims are cattle and should be slaughtered it doesn't mean anything but that, regardless of how badly you want to spin it the other way.
