cant get at mass market retailers, guitar center has everything, i like mom and pop shops but i ussually get better service and attitude at guitar center, much more variety as well
Its definitely Fiesta Red, and its just another Blues Junior. You could probably re-tolex it yourself for less than the difference between a black BJ and this BJ.
How long was it before your EL84 power tubes started to rattle? Mine started to rattle after about 20 hours of playing time---absolutely unacceptable (this is a mechanical noise, i.e., NOT microphonics.) Google "Blues Junior EL84 tube rattle" in order to see just how widespread this issue is for BJ owners and owners of amps with EL84s. Its back to amps with 6L6s for me. Christ, what a waste of time and money!
Did my boy say 2 34s???...and 15 watts??? (@ 1:33 ?) hmm....Well, it looks kinda cool...It's a Humm(ing) Dinger alright....Wonder what it would sound like thru a 2x12? Now you have NO EXCUSE not to practice 4 hrs a day big Al !
the magic is in the EL84's. one of the most musical (shimmering and harmonically rich) tubes ever made. the reason you don't find them in larger amps is because they aren't that powerful. it takes a pair to get 15 Watts RMS (Blues Jr) and a quad of them to drive a Vox AC30 (30 Watts RMS).
one more tip, you will never get rid of the hum compleatly as long as you use single coil pickups, there will allways be a little hissing sound there, one way to totally get rid of it is to mount a mini humbucker in the neck, I know it is a very popular thing to do amongst Tele owners, but the down side is you'll end up with a more fat Gibson kinda tone in the neck, there is also some "noiseless" pickups for strat that you could probably use in the bridge position with some minor modification.
@alexdaman8 definitely infront of the amp, if you use stomp boxes you would wan't it last in the line cus some pedals generate noise too, the loop are just usable for clean effects like delays, flanger, chorus etc, not overdrive or distortion pedals, you could also isolate the cavaty on the guitar, that might help, I think there is a special paint that doesnt lead eletricy you can spray inside, but you gotto remove the electornics first ofcourse:)
@satjathamma hi, I use Blues juniors daily and the reason it's humming that loud is because he hold the guitar too close to the amp!! A distance of 1,5 m would be enough.
@ubad00d The 'buzz' was from the guitar per single-coil pickups. Had he set the selector switch for the pickups in position 2, that would cancel the hum... being that it's using both p/u's at the same time. Plug in a Les Paul or any other guitar with humbuckers and you would have no hum :-)

Dont know who the prude was that gave me a thumbs down for asking hpw much one of these cost, but I could really care less. Thanks for the info. I went to another site and the guy that posted the video was more than helpful. His video gave a much better demonstration on the amp to boot. If you want to see a great demo, check out cedebonzo for a demo that actually will make you want the amp.
Thanks for the redirect - I actually bought the amp today - lucky to find one I guess - and I can't say enough good things about it. It is a certainly a sound that works for me.
It looks to me like the Fender American Vintage Series '62 Telecaster Custom. I've had my eye on the surf green one and this is the black one. You can find them at Musician's Friend. I originally posted a link but apparently my post vanished into the ether
Unfortunately I can't get my hands on this amplifier in Australia, but I am considering getting a Blues Junior and replacing the speaker with a Vintage30. How does this amplifier handle pedals.
It depends on what kind of sound you want out of it. If you don't mind it sounding gritty (tubes being pushed hard), then you should be able to hear it without a problem.
If you're looking for cleans being heard over a drum set, you might have some difficulty...you'd probably need to be mic'ed.
thanks for posting this video. i was looking for examples of the fender blues junior and this is perfect. i live miles from a guitar store, so i only go when i'm buying something! your ethusiasm is infectious! :-)
on a second look, he's not as bad as i thought, nothing amazing though i don't know how it is in the US but in australia you have to be VERY good to work in a guitar store...and to the guy above, there's no need to call me a moron, I am quite aware that he was trying to show the amps tone. everyone has different opinions...respect mine, i'm not going to go around saying your a moron for liking joe satriani or whoever you listen to
I am actually Joe Satriani and as such, I deem you a moron!! :p sorry, I just reacted to your comment which seemed harsh - I'm getting a wee bit tired of hearing so many people trash others when they dont deserve it. if someone posts a video titled "I am the greatest of all time!!!!" or "the next EVH!" and doenst come close then he is asking for it. but something like this - no way. evidently I'm not the only one who didnt care for your comment lol. its all good
haha, i wasn't actually trying to trash him i was just surprised. but i really do know what you mean, i expecially hate when people say racist things. for example on a hendrix clip of red house, some asshole said something like 'i'm glad he's dead' and then made a racial slur, i absolutely DESPISE stuff like that
not really a demonstration when it takes 2 and a half minutes for 2 seconds of guitar
