@MrRambzor A D A F#5 note the variation in D and A, and also the order of the chords.

It appears hes plays A simply by inverting the joint on his index (across all three notes), and then switches his index back leaving the bottom two notes open and his index on F. I don't advise this unless your fingers are as long as his, as you can easily damage your index.
