  • Nice. Only, the speaker pronounces "Medici" incorrectly. The accent falls on the first syllable : Médici.

  • Isn't the tense Past Historic, hence the odd spelling.

  • The description in the video does indeed credit Ronsard as the poet of the text, however "anonymous" is referring to the composer of the music.

  • @cola625 - Old French spelling (and conjugation) is different than modern French.

  • @heathdill : It actually is Middle French and the conjugation hasn't changed. But the spelling is slitghly different indeed (It won't be normalized before the Académie française is created).

As for the writer it obviously is Ronsard (it's one of his most known poems).

  • Prima! Bellissimo! Marvelous! Thank you so much for posting this amazing video *^o^*

  • i love this song! but, there is a problem.. in the descirption, some of the words are spelled wrong.. vostre should be votre (possesion).. avoit should be avait (imperect of avoir)..etc

  • I'm pretty sure the author is not anonymous and is in fact Pierre de Ronsard.

  • This song is so freaking beautiful.

  • Mignonne, allons voir si la rose Qui ce matin avoit d'esclose, Sa robe de pourpre au soleil, A point perdu c'est vesprée, Les plis de sa robe pourprée, Et son teint au votre pareil. Donc, si vous me croyez, Mignonne, Tandis que votre age fleuronne, En sa plus vert nouveauté, Cueillez, cueillez votre jeunesse: Comme cette fleur de la vieillesse, Fera tenir votre beauté.
  • i noticed a small mistake in the lyrics

    at the last line :

it's "ternir" (dont forget the R)

  • Grande Simon Carrington,musicista e interprete raffinato!

  • Meraviglioso!!!

  • What a lovely film, shedding light on this famous song. The singer sings it beautifully. Until now I had only heard the song performed by women (Emma Kirkby, and Mutsumi Hatano with the Japanese group Tablatura, on their album "Kani"). The women perform beautifully. It is good to hear a man performing the song.
