  • Well it differs because my had a modeling system. It could cause the issue, but also it could be a poor soldering somewhere... Unbalanced output was not so noisy. Now I start thinking that I could fix it myself )) But if not, I din't want to take risk. Anyway I want add some money to buy mic audio technika at 2020. May be it will be more lucky and quaity improvement. Will try to make a review when I have it.

  • @slywinkisme

I'm about to become an Audio Technica dealer (as well as Behringer and many others). My store is going to focus on inexpensive equipment. Hopefully I will be able to count on your business in the future!

  • I plug C-3 mic into preamp, then preampe out to line6 ux2 interface into mic xlr input. I've also tryed to plug preamp output to Xenyx mixer into mic xlr input - same crap. Gain and output volume are at 50%. But even when mic gain is 0 and output at 10% noise level is the same - about -45 dB. Mic and out cables are high quality with amphenol plugs.

There is a lot pluged in into 220. But I've tryed dafferent electric socket - same crap ( Via UPS - no impruvment as well...

  • @slywinkisme

There is the possibility that you received a poorly assembled one. All I can tell you is that I don't have any of the problems you are having. If you're looking to alleviate the problem, you might want to call Behringer tech support. They could help you more than me...I mean, it is their product...I'm just some dude with a video, ya know?

    Thanks for watching!

  • @CheapGearGuy Its highly possible that its really bad assambled (( Actually I've returned it and had my money back today. But inspite of all this crap I liked how it sounded (exept buzz )))) and really want to know is it a bad product or just my bad luck.

Frankly I've decided to buy it after watching you vid. I don't blame you in any way!!! Thanks for good review and your help!

Bad assambled and defective items is destiny of my country I guess (( Have to choose more carefull next time!

  • @slywinkisme

That's the problem with "cheap gear"...sometimes it's assembled in factories where the employees aren't paid very much and thus they don't really care about their job. The design is good, the company is good, the quality is hit and miss. You mentioned you got the BEhringer 200...I know it's not MUCH different, but this is the mic 100. Maybe the difference caused the buzz? I don't know...I know this one is very simple and very nice sounding (to me). No problems with mine.

  • Did you expirience bzzz sound from output? I've got mic 200 thing. It sounds nice, but -46dB bzzz noise really kills me.

  • @slywinkisme What have you got plugged into it? And is there a lot of stuff plugged into the same electrical socket? Is the Gain cranked?

  • thanks for reviewing the product dude, needed a pre amp to go into my antares autotune unit, much better than spending hundreds on one!

  • @djbrendon

I have to agree with you. It's inexpensive, it works, and it helps tube up your digital sounds.

Thanks for watching! Keep an eye on my store (cheapgearguy(dot)com)! I should be stocking Phonic, Samson, and many other inexpensive brands in 2 months or so.

  • 4:07 ... Fart ? :S

  • @ahsan2kute

Yeah, the bass sounded kinda weak and bad...I still don't know if it is because of the stock strings. I had a similar problem with my Equinox SB-2024 Bass, but it turned out the stock strings were garbage. Replaced them and now the 2024 sounds AWESOME!! I haven't changed the strings on my Rogue because I honestly haven't touched it since I got my Equinox basses! Check out the vids if you get a chance!

    Thanks for watching!

    CGG

t touched it since I got my Equinox basses in!

  • the spider wanna sing too man....ompose a spider song that would be greatly appreciated :))

  • @ecstasy1982original

Yeah...I felt bad having to do it...I would've let him live, but my girl FREAKS out over spiders...like BAD...so, better to kill it then have to check every nook and cranny of the house to make sure"It wasn't still hanging around..." ya know?

Thanks for watching! Keep an eye out for my store (should be opening in about 7-8 days)!!

  • i have question bro , by the way nice demo , i have a behringer C1 but i dont have any mixer like the xenyx or what ever i just have the mic , but my question is if i buy the Behringer TUBE ULTRAGAIN MIC100 can i just plug it into my pc is i buy a jack or something , is it gonna be a problem or what , thanks in regards

  • @showlshaqfanclub

Absolutely. If you have the right cables, that set up would be perfect. You'll get the phantom power you need, as well as the ability to control volume...you'll even be able to add some tube warmth, if you want. It will also allow you to limit the output (built in limiter) so that you don't clip. The ULTRAGAIN 100 is just an all around great device.

Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for my online store (coming SOON)!!!

    CGG

  • I actually have a question, do I need an audio interface as well as this? I have a Vox AD15VT and I used to use the line out to my PC. Would it make any difference if I use this sortof as an interface between my amp and PC or would it be pretty much the same? The amp gets pretty loud even with 1/4 of the master volume turned up, but when I used the line out I had to crank it past halfway to have a reasonable volume through my PC...

  • @Bebop56210

This definitely is not an interface.I understand what you're saying, though...and YES, you can plug directly from this into your PC (you will need a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter). And since this has a volume and gain control, you probably won't have to crank you amp as much as you used to, but that would probably be something you could fix by adjusting the settings in your PC or by plugging into the "Mic In" jack (if you have one).

Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for my store!

    CGG

  • So your using a behringer mic 100 and a behringer c1 together and this is the result I'm all in. But I need to ask if you know why the mic 100 won't work with a mxl 770. I have the mic 100 already and IT IS GREAT but is it too small to handle a mxl 770's power? If so I have no problem sending it back to get a c1 if it works just as well as the people say the 770 does.

  • @33jpt

Hey, I'm not familiar with the problem you are talking about. Nothing I've read about it suggests it won't work with the Mic100. I've never tried the combo (770 and the 100) so I don't know what problems might arise, but I don't really think there would be any problem. sounds kinda like saying, "This Shure mic won't work with my Mackie Mixer" Just doesn't make sense.

Anyways, if you have any more questions, feel free to write me (or if you can clarify the problem people are having).

    CGG

  • Hey, nice demo! Can u please tell me, looking fwd to purchase a Behringer TUBE ULTRAGAIN MIC200, if I can connect it to my PC audio card Line in for recording?

  • @idiotgo

ABSOLUTELY. The MIC100 has microphone inputs and outputs, but it also has 1/4" input/outputs. YOU would need an adapter (1/4" to 1/8"...or guitar cable to headphone), but after that, you should be good to go!

Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for my store (coming soon)!

Feel free to email me from my main page if you have any other questions! I'm always here!

    CGG

  • @CheapGearGuy Thank you so much! I got an Infrasonic quartet and want to do some home recording and I wanted a mic preamp so I can record with 2 channels (IQ already has a preamp). And again kick ass demo!

  • @rezkar

I'm glad you liked the review. If you purchase the MIC100, I hope you enjoy it much more! :)

Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for my online store (coming soon)!

  • its okay i went to my old music teacher and he said to get an audio interface, and he showed me what he had, so im all good now but cheers for the info :)

  • @hipeas93 an audio interface is a soundcard which still doesnt replace a tube which this preamp has

  • i have a shure sm57 and im pluging it strait into the line in port on my pc, and this i think this is causing a very bad hissing sound even when i record nothing. will this stop or reduce the hissing?

  • @hipeas93

Perhaps. Hissing, humming, buzzing and other noises come from all sorts of this. You oculd have a short in your wire, your pc jack could be loose, your mic may have a defect. The best way to tell what is causing the hiss is to try to hook the mic into something else (a mixing board or amp or a friend's pc). If the hiss continues, you know it's the mic/cable and you can go from there. I'll email you more info!

    Thanks for watching!

    CGG

  • @hipeas93 you will get no hissing sound or any kind of noise using this preamp even in high frequency. connecting your mic directly to your pc is a no good. mic signals needs to be boost up. and thats what preamplifier does.

  • @ChiOw03

True, you won't get any hissing. I think his major question was will this preamp CURE his hissing that he currently is experiencing. I mainly said that I can not guarantee that this will resolve his issue because I do not want to mislead him...plus, according to his reply to his own post, he is purchasing an interface to help with the problem.

Thank you for watching and for your input! :)

    CGG

  • Great review. I got one of these and I get the sound I wanted for gutural vocals in my homemade songs. I've only done one song so far, but I plan to record acoustic guitars next time. Great job, thanks again!

  • @kultivus

Thanks! I'm glad you like your purchase and I hope this review helped you make an informed decision (not sure if you watched the review before or after your purchase).

Keep an eye out for my store. I am trying to get it open as soon as possible, but things are a bit slow at the moment. Hopefully it won't be too long now!

    Thanks for watching!

  • i am looking for a cheap solution to get some vocal distortion. guitar pedals dont work very well with vocals...

can this preamp produce distortion for vocals? it doesnt have to be a lot, just some kind of gritty, old school kind of ambience.

  • @Metalwurst666

ABSOLUTELY...this doesn't add "blistering" distortion (ala Dimebag or any other "metal" guitarist), but it will start out kinda warm....then, with the gain around half way turned up you're good and toasty...and then about 3/4 turned, you're clipping and getting some grit....all the way? You've got yourself some nice tube distortion...but more "bluesy" distortion rather than "heavy" distortion.

Hope this helps. Any more questions, feel free to e-mail me!

    Thanks for watching!

    CGG

  • @CheapGearGuy cool thats exactly what were looking for, thank you!

  • @CheapGearGuy is it advicable to turn up the gain on my audio interface when the ultragain is connected with its gain already cranked up. would it cause any humming.

  • @amohkoj

It's hard for me to advise you at all since I don't know what you're working with & it's specifications.

If you turn the gain all the way up, you'll get some distortion (like any tube amp with distortion would). If you turn the Output all the way up, you're going to get some clipping - the signal will be too high (this thing can put out some sound!). If you were going for a distorted effect, can crank the gain AND the Output, but turn on the 20db pad & the limiter.

    Thnx 4 watching

  • Hi! I know Mattew Bellamy(The Muse) distorts his voice with a valve preamp...the very very expensive avalon! Do you think I can get that kind of present voice and distorted with a cheap preamp like the mic100?

  • Is there latency when you hear the amplitube sound?

  • @G36n

No there's not, but not because of the MIC100. I have the Phonic Firefly, and that has zero latency. You could also go with the ASIO4ALL drivers...that will give you zero latency even if you have an older sound card.

Hope this helps. E-mail me if you have anymore questions. I'm always here!

    Thanks for watching!

    CGG

Also, keep an eye out for my store...should be up and running in about a month or so!

  • @CheapGearGuy Thank you for the answer, you really helped me. I have been playing in Line in and the ASIO4ALL greatly reduces latency,i know. Thank you for making things clear.

  • @G36n

Not a problem. I'm glad I could help!

  • Hello...SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLSIH I`m from Turkey.Today i buy my behringer mic200 preamp (i have mixer xenyx1204fx and condenser mic b2pro) i want to know when i connect condenser microphone into preamp and the preamp in to the mixer, the phantom powers in the mixer and in the preamp will be on or only one of this will be on (+48volt) ??? Thanks>>>

  • Depending on what gear you have, you may or may not sound as god as what I've got. I have the Phonic Firefly, so that is where A LOT of the recording sound comes from. As far as live? You'll sound better because YouTube compresses the audio A LOT.

Settings: Gain (half turned), Output (less than 1/4 turn), the 20db/+48v/Phase/Limter are NOT on. I

d advise adjusting EVERYTHING and getting a sound you love. If you need to know what the other buttons do, email me! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • @haruthacin

I answered you in an e-mail, but in case anyone else has the same question, here's my answer:

If you have 2 sources of phantom power, you only need to turn on one. Which one is up to you. I would probably go with the mixing board, but if you happen to notice any extra noise (not saying there will be), try the other source.

So...in conclusion...you only need one. Play around with it and see which one you prefer to have on.

Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

  • The CheapGearGuy did a nice and helpful review here. Well done!

  • @Audiodaemon

    Thanks! :)

I'm going to review pretty much everything in my store the same way. Probably in more detail, but you'll definitely be able to see and hear all the products before you buy them (except, of course, for the things you can't hear like monitors and headphones).

    Anyways, thanks for watching!

    CGG

  • so right now i have a condenser mic and an alesis audio interface... can i use this to decrease peaks and clipping in my recording ?

  • @isreal95

No. What you are looking for is a Limiter or a Compressor (but a Limiter would do the best). Behringer makes both...and even some units WITH both...like the MULTICOM Pro or the AUTOCOM Pro ($129 and $79 respectively). Hope this helps!

Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for my store...hopefully we'll be open by New Year's, but I wouldn't count on it! :)

    CGG

  • @isreal95

OH WAIT! I forgot this thing has a limiter! SO YES! YES YOU CAN USE IT TO LIMIT YOUR SIGNAL!! I am so sorry...I was just not thinking because I haven't used the limiter on this thing in FOREVER. From what I remember, the limiter was a bit harsh. Cut the signal a bit too hard. It would probably work better if you used the 20db pad and then adjusted the output to about the loudness you wanted. Would probably "cushion" the limiter. I'll give it a try and write you an e-mail.

    Talk soon!

  • nyce job..... :)

  • @searchingvdo

    Thanks!

And thanks for watching! Keep in mind that I didn't even take the gain past HALF WAY!! :)

  • Do I need to buy sth extra to connect this to my laptop?

  • @IPraiseDesolation

You are going to need cables. You can not connect via USB. This has XLR (microphone) and 1/4" (guitar cable) sized outputs and inputs, so you are going to need either an adapter (1/4" to 1/8") or a cable that goes from 1/4" to 1/8". You can get it at RadioShack or at any music store. Look for "Hosa" brand cables...they make adapters of EVERY kind....good quality and inexpensive...FAIRLY inexpensive.

    Thanks for watching!

  • NICE, WE DONT GIVE A FUCK UNBOXING VIDEO

  • @ELEKOFFICIEL

Not quite following you. Are you saying, "Thank God it's not one of those videos where the guy just got his product and he's just taking it out of the packaging and showing it to us." ??

I watched a lot of videos like that and some others where the people used their products, but recorded it with the camera mic (WEAK). I figured, why not do some higher quality? I wish YouTube didn't compress the videos so much. They sounded MUCH better before I uploaded.

    Thanks for watching!

    CGG

  • great job putting the time stamps in there so we can a/b easily. cheap gear guy, i like your style.

  • @fucdemas

    I thought that might help.

Also, keep in mind that I never turned the gain up past half way, so any difference you heard was only half of what it can do, & I think it made a nice bit of difference at half! :) I also don't think I cranked the output very far up either, so there is still some room to play if you liked the sound of this preamp!

Please keep me in mind for your future musical needs. My store should be up and running in about a month or so.

thanks, we're aren't like professional or anything by the way

  • Mine stopped working for no reason .. Cheap Sadface

  • @peterm3964

sorry to hear about your problem. Have you tried contacting Behringer? Their customer service has been great the few times I have had to use them. Mine has been in use for at least 5 months now and is working great...try Behringer. they may fix it or send you another one...as long as you're still under warranty? How old is yours and where did you get it? I know Musician's Friend has some crazy return policies.

    Thanks for watching!

    CGG

  • @peterm3964 did you leave it on a long time? my stopped when I did that , but it works now.

  • @KEOpatrick

I have left it on for very long stretches. I usually let it warm up for about 5 to 10 minutes. I wish it had an on/off switch, but since it doesn't I just plug it up before i use it, let it warm up, and then when done I unplug...hasn't failed me yet.

    Thanks for watching!

    CGG

  • yo i aint gonna lie, that sounds exactly the same. now i got trained ears and i cant tell a difference

  • @jnyce695

Like I said, if you can't tell a difference , then this is probably not for you. It's not one of those things where everyone who plays or records or anything is gonna pick up on. It's got a bit more bite...just a bit more balls...if you don't notice it, then you're not looking for it. PLUS, you have to consider that the gain is only turned half way up...I found that with the gain all the way up, you got too much distortion. It sounds nice and warm and even gets distortion w/o an amp.

  • But by no means was I insinuating that u personally don't know what you're doing or that your ears are not good enough. You have to consider that there are 5 pages of comments and several of them say they like the sound and the difference. it is a good product and I get some great results from it. If it's not for you, then it's not for you. I merely made this videos so people could see what it can do. I hope u didn't take my comment about "not noticing the difference" personally.

    CGG

  • @CheapGearGuy yea im lookin for something that is more noticable or more sound shaping then this mic. i heard the cad m9 is pretty good, its only about $260 and it drastically warms up and smooths out vocals, check it out

  • the amp allows you to plug in usb? because your mic looks like mine. i have the co1u and i was wondering if it will work with that preamp. would it ?

  • @YoungCaprice1992

    No...it doesn't plug in USB. I have the C-1, not the C-1u.

IF the C-1u has a USB to male XLR? Then, yes, you could technically plug it in USB...but you would need another mic cable to go from the MIC100 to the C-1. Would it work? I'm not sure. You'd have to try it out. If I had the gear, I would try it and tell you, but I don't.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Keep an eye out for me. I will be opening an online store in about a month or so!

    Thanks gor watching!

    CGG

  • stupid question but do you have to use the 48v phantom on the ultragain for it to work with an condenser microphone or can you use the 48v on your interface the only reason i ask is because i use a blue icicle audio interface and it doesnt allow you to turn off the supplied 48 v

  • @SutherlandBrad

Great question...YES, you can turn the phantom power off. It's as simple as pushing a button! :) So, no worries...you're good to go!

Hope this helps and I hope you keep watching! More coming soon (including the CheapGearGuy store!). Thanks for watching!

    CGG

  • Stupid question. With all the gain on this, can i get line level output from a condenser microphone?

I have a emu 0404 pci card that only has line level input only, and I want to connect a microphone on it, to take advantage of the realtime patchmix DSP effects, like compression etc.

  • @kourampioulis

I'm a bit confused about your question. Are u asking if the signal will be TOO loud? Because the answer is NO. Even if the signal were too loud, there is a 20db pad button (drops the signal volume in case of distortions or in case your incoming signal is already amped/powered).

So, the short answer is, "You'll be fine. This preamp isn't that powerful and it has a 20db pad as well as a limiter."

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for watching and please watch my Quick Question vid!

    CGG

  • @CheapGearGuy Im asking if i will be able to get line level output from the mic (connect the mic to the soundcard using the same rca input i use to connect a mixer, or a cdj), without having to use a mixer. I know i would need a preamp for this, but does this one do the job? Actually a was afraid it wouldnt be loud enough.

Sorry for my ignorant questions, I rarely use microphones and dont really know a lot about them, Im mostly into DAWs and djing.

  • @kourampioulis

We all start somewhere. There are no ignorant questions (unless the ywere already answered and you refused to hear, right?)

Anyways. There are no RCA outs. If you had an adapter or cable from 1/4" to RCA you'd be fine.

This unit will get LOUD...don't worry...but it only has mic and 1/4" outs.

    Does that help?

    CGG

  • @kourampioulis sure i can use an adapter. My card has balanced input too, so I can even use a balanced XLR to TRS cable. Thanks for your reply, Im going to get it tomorrow, together with a Behringer condenser mic I used on a radio station and really like the sound, I think its the C1.

  • @kourampioulis

    The C-1 is awesome.

I will be stocking both of these in my store once I get it open (fingers crossed), so keep me in mind in the future when you want to purchase more inexpensive gear.

Hopefully I will be up and running in a couple months.

    Take care

    CGG

  • CheapGearGuy, I have a question for you about this MIC100...

I want to listen my bass with my headphones but I also want to use my bass amp.. So, I was wondering if I could do like this: Bass -> Amp -> MIC100 -> Headphones

Do you think this is right?

  • I don't think so. the Reason is the Mic100 doesn't have a stereo output. You'd probably only get a mono signal (lose left or right ear in the headphones). I won't swear by it, but I'm pretty sure. I guess I'm not following why u want your bass amp AND the headphones. Is it because u wanna listen to the quality of the bass amp but at headphone level (not disturb people)? For a little more $, u might look into the Behringer Xenyx 502.

    Hope this helps!

    CGG

Watch my Quick Question vid please!

  • cheapgearguy with expensive recording equipment

  • @BullzEye14

Are you being sarcastic? Because I don't own anything "expensive". Not one piece of equipment that I use cost me over $180.

If you were joking and I just don't get it, I apologize. I purposely use cheap gear (just like I've said). The ULTRAGAIN Mic100 was like $30 BEFORE my gift certificate. My Phonic Firefly 302 was the most expensive thing I use and it cost $150. So what's this expensive recording equipment you're talking about? Maybe you're not familiar with equipment prices?

  • Thanks, i really appreciate ur advice!! Ive been playin guitar for over 10 years and singing even longer but new to the whole home recording studio thing!! Anyway, ppl say what u MUST get, good 2 know whats not needed!! :)

  • Lol, sorry thought my 1st message sent! Anyway, i was thinking of getting this pre-amp to go with behringer 502...i was asking is the mixer really needed if i have a midi interface hooked 2 keyboard! I play guitar & bass as well...so should i skip the mixer and pre amp! Im on a mac btw!!

  • @melodic21

Far be it from me to tell u what u "need" or "don't need". A friend of mine said (when told that he didn't NEED such a big drumset) "I only NEED what I WANT". Ya know? Is a mixer NECESSARY? Almost never. Is this preamp NECESSARY? Certainly not. You can go str8 from this preamp to your PC soundcard. You can go from your mixer to your sound card. This preamp will add THICKNESS to your sound. Tubey and WARM and even distortion.

    It's what u want that matters! :)

    Is that what u meant?

    CGG

  • I have a phantom mic/ strat guitar/ bass i wanna hook it up 2...

  • @melodic21

I'm not sure if you didn't send the rest or you are saying that you're "going to hook yours up, too".

  • Not sound dumb or anything but im new to home recording...i have a emu 1x1 usb interface and thinking of getting this...is this a usb or firewire connection?! thanks

  • @melodic21

I am SO sorry I did not respond sooner! I usually get notifications that people have commented...I don;t know what happened. I am very sorry.

There are no usb or firewire connections. There are XLR (microphone) and 1/4" (guitar plug) inputs/outputs. This is a premap, not an interface. It is supposed to add tube warmth to your signal before it hits your amp, mixer, or computer interface.

  • what headphones are you using?

  • @angelsurfjunky

Audio-Technica ATH-M4040fs. I'm going to be doing a BUNCH of new reviews soon and the ywill DEFINITELY be one of the reviews!

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hey,

I finally bought one unit for myself.

Unfortunately, i fried the adapter which came with it. It needed 120V input, whereas we have 220-230V supply.

Still It worked for 10 mins, light smoke started coming out after 3 mins., disconnected it from psu, and connected again. Same problem. Does a tube warm up this way?

And can u help me to find a replacement psu that works with 220V? I believe preamp is still fine. Any suggestions would be helpful.

i need 9V ac output, with >1.3A current, rite?

  • I have question, If I plug ultragain mic 100 + behringer c-1 using 5 pin cable(usually to mic's and phanrom power) do will it work on computer? (Im using HD Audio - normally standard audio card)

  • @Baxio666

I can't comment on the gear you're using...HOWEVER, if you are using a system that DOES NOT have phantom power, the C-1 WILL NOT work...but by using the ULTRAGAIN 100, you can add the needed phantom power, so...basically? YES it will work...how you route to your computer is on you.

    Thanks for watching

  • I have an Audio Technica At2020 and a M-Audio Fast Track, I was told i need a phantom power supply casue its currently not working so.... do I have an XLR cable from the Mic -----> Phantom Power supply then do I get another XLR to go from end of Phantom Power supply to the audio interface?

  • @MGDDareHOT

    1) This has nothing to do with the Behringer MIC100. I have never touched the AT2020. I thought about it and settled on the Behringer. I imagine they are pretty much the same thing since they look the same.

    2) If you watched the "Watch Me First" video, you'd know I'm not tech support. Call Audio Technica. They can help you way more than I can. Plus they get paid to do it and it;s free for you. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

  • @MGDDareHOT

I think I made a HUGE mistake. I thought the Audio techinca AT2020 was the Audio-Technica version of this tube preamp (which I did check out and settle on the Behringer)...A MILLION APOLOGIES...I am very sorry. The AT2020 mic is NOT the same thing...OF COURSE...

You will need to go like this:

    AT2020>XLR cable>phantom power source>XLR or 1/4" cable>audio interface.

The Behringer MIC100 will work for giving both tube warmth and phantom power.

Hope this help and "sorry" again.

  • I just bought a shure sm58 mic....and I'm asking u...Behringer mic100 or Behringer mic800???

  • @jtiemrry

    No idea...I don't know your setup...I don't know what you'll be doing...and I have never tried the 800.

They seem very similar, accept that the 800 has the ability to adjust for what application you plan to use it in (mic, guitar, bass, WHATEVER). so...I trust either one...the 100 is cheaper...but there is a MIC200 that splits the difference. looks like 100 but acts like 800...check into it...

    Thanks for watching!

  • is there any difference between mic100 and mic800? i have a C1 mic, a mic800 preamp, a creative sound blast vx sound card...and i'm not very pleased whith the quality...i'm kind of novice in this, and i don't know how to set the preamp's volumes...i think this is the problem...

  • @tottomuzik

I think the name should tell you there's a difference. what I've read, the 800 is a tube mic preamp modeler (can be changed to suit your need). You'd want to try either NEUTRAL ( just pure sound + some tube) and/or the VOCAL setting.

Tool around with it. I bet you can get a great sound out of it, but maybe not with the soundblaster. I mean, we're talking about a $16 soundcard that at best does what? 48khz? Toy with the tube nob, bring down the input gain, etc.

    Good luck!

    CGG

  • @CheapGearGuy

the soundblaster works at 96khz, 24 bits...thank you for your advice, and for your review...peace!

  • @tottomuzik

Really? Wow...when I looked it up it just seemed like a plain old PCI soundcard. Maybe there's a newer model than the one listed. Like I said, the one I saw went for $16...I didn't figure that it would do that high. Oh well...

Tweak with it. I know I get a great sound out of my Mic100 and my Phonic Firefly. Sorry that you're having problems with yours.

  • I think i will buy this thing...

I like how it modifies the mic....

Like U said, gives bit punch and warmth...

Thanks for the good and fair review man!...Nicely done...

But, please...i'm not an animal-rights activist....please don't kill the spider XD

  • he he... glad you liked the review...I only killed the spider cause my fiance HATES spiders and she would freak out if she even knew it was in the house. If you notice, I did apologize to the spider...so at least I felt bad

  • @CheapGearGuy I'm sure it forgives you ^_^

  • If anyone decides to buy (or not to buy) anything that I've reviewed, I'd love to hear about it. Please leave a comment if the reviews have helped you in any way AT ALL.

    Thanks!!

  • would it be possible to connect the jack output from the mic100 into an RCA input in a juli@ recording card? I know the RCA are UNbalanced... would it be pointless to do such a thing? there's the option of using balanced TRS jacks anyway...

  • Yes...it would completely be possible (and even recommended by Behringer) to do that. I think I said it before? But it has both Mic and 1/4" inputs AND outputs...so the choice of configuring and connecting is completely up to you.

  • the bass sounds like cemetery gates from pantera at 6:12 to 6:27

  • he he....exactly...guess I played it right, then :)
