I learned to center a bit differently but there is some good advice here. As a beginner though, I think you may want to show how that clay got on the wheel to begin with. I find that it makes a big difference as to the shape of the clay and especially the bottom of that ball, how it lays on the wheel. If you don't get it right, it will slip away when you start to center. Just something that has happened to me in the beginning!
You are so right. Actually, this video had a wedging introduction in the beginning, and I talked about the bottom and etc... but some how I must have recorded over it or something because when I went to upload it to my computer, it wasn't there. I gave a little speech about the radial center, why clay has to be centered and blah blah blah... but I a lost it. :-( And, I know what you mean about learning things a different way. There are probably about 1000 different ways to center!
I find that it really helps to know a few different ways. Because one day, one method might work better than the other XD. especially during days when centering just doesn't seem to happen XP
