I have some issues with my camstudio and came here to look.

I see you are recommending the newer versions >2.0

Googling the download brought me to a page offering 2.0 which talks about

newer versions being paid versions, with fewer features.

Is this the case?

@MJCPeters No - absolutely not. CamStudio is an open-source project and the basic program is freeware. Being open source, people may, of course, modify it and offer their version for sale (as long as they supply the source code also...) but the latest version as of this writing is 2.6 r294 available from our sourceforge found link at camstudio-dot-org.

thanks for doing this tutorial, but some advice;

- skip the whole mind map thing - neat, but sorry, it's a waste of time.

- explain what the plugins do, and how to use them, less time about how to get them. Getting is easy.

@StevenTCShearer Sorry, but that mind map is now out of date. I'd update the links to the programs, and would have more on using Xvid. I'll put together a new one and upload it to my website one day soon.

@StevenTCShearer Good news, Steven (and everyone else) - I found the mind map and corrected the links that were broken and fixed some outmoded statements and made it available in java, html and downloadable .mm forms at my website (link in description above). Enjoy!

@smerhej1234 Oh... sorry about that not being edited out - I'd forgotten it was in there. I originally had a gi-nourmous mind-map in Freemind that was going to go with this, but so much of the info is already outdated that I decided not to upload it. When I get time I'll create an updated one and put it at the screencasttutorial ddot org site.

@MrBundler Perhaps I'll make the mindmap available one day - it is HUGE! It covers a lot more than just CamStudio and served as notes for what I would cover in future videos.
