Or how many artists took a guitar riff if not in fact an entire melody for what's possibly one of your favorite songs of all time? you are assuming that the original piece is also in fact ORIGINAL, copyrighting and ownership make the song LEGALLY theirs, but really they could have heard the melody from what they created ANYWHERE. people get the oppurtunity to get their music out there first because of money, exposure , etc. but no one is "ripping off" music because they pay massive royalties while possiblty makin a obscure song a hit.
