HJC FS-15 Carbon Motorcycle Helmet

I saw one of these in my local bike shop sitting on the counter. I ask them about it (not intending to buy but was curious) and the helmet is unbelievably light. It also looks lovely.

I bought this helmet 2 months ago. I gotta say it's a pretty good helmet. Very light and comfortable. But it sometimes steams up in cold weather kinda easily. I guess you gotta use the ultimate anti-fog system for it.

wat r the pros and cons of a carbon fiber helmet?

Good question -- Pros are the light weight. Cons - it can be brittle and some owners report it cracks easily. But as long as it meets relevant safety standards, we have to assume a CF helmet is as safe as polycarbonate or composite.

Some questions.

1. Is the clear coat durable enough when being in the direct sunlight (35C, 95F) for a long time? Will it turn yellow or even peel off?

2. Could you comment on the noise coming from the vents?

I was initially going to get a RF1000, but apparently Shoei pulled all their stock from the warehouse since all the internet retailer I got the RF1000 from ended up telling me they can't get it anymore after I had made the purchase.

So I got the FS-15 instead. At around $130 when I got mine today, I think it is a bargain.

The FS-15 line is called FG-15 in Europe. I bought a FG-15 (not Carbon) in Germany, and saw the same (except for the painting) helmet in the US labeled as FS-15. I am doing some research before buying a carbon helmet.

Yes, FG and FS are pretty much the same. BTW, our comments in the review are appropriate also for the non-carbon FS-15's with regards to everything else except weight.

As far as I can tell, the exact ECE version of the FS-15 is not sold in the UK.

Well i've looked everywhere, i can find the FS-10 in the uk easily, but the FS-15 is nowhere to be found, i could get one from america but that would take weeks to ship. And i kinda need it before christmas.

@togalogs, many HJC helmets have the giant HJC logo on a sticker. I peeled off the logo from my IS-16 in about 10 seconds. In 2 days I'll get the FS-15 Carbon and will hopefully be able to do the same. Since it's higher end, it's possible the sticker is under the clearcoat.

Just a quick question

The FS-15 looks a lot like the FG-15 which is available in europe, but are they exactly the same(aside from the breathguard), or are there also any other differences, because it can save me about 100 euro's to get it from the US

I don't really know if they're the same, but the U.S. version is not ECE 22.05 labeled, so not sure if it would be illegal?

I had a HJC CL-15 and I will never buy another HJC helmet. I recently bought a SHOEI RF-1000 and I love it. It's like night and day from the CL-15.

Still have it. But I am also getting a Shoei Rf-1000. But I have been riding for a year and I now know a $350 helmet is worth it. Also my HJC is banged up from me learning wear to place it on my bike and not have it slip onto the cement. Glad I did it with HJC rather than a new SHOEI :D Rubber side down my friends, PEACE.

that looks like a nice helmet indeed..i read the review on your website.i noticed that the video was posted on october and i was wondering if you noticed any of the problems that marked the first gen of cf helmets from ajc particularly the clear coating being scuffed or chipped easily
