To be perfectly honest, as a landscape photographer myself I can only imagine this being misleading to beginners.
It reinforces the idea that shooting in manual i difficult.
This method kind of works if the auto settings are anywhere near what you might actaully select. In plenty of situations auto might have chosen f5.6 ISO400 1/20. Not the kind of settings you want if you have a tripod.
A simpler approach is to say...Set the camera to Av, set the aperture to f/13 set the ISO to 100 and adjust

@Mr40up Fair comment, but there is little value in telling people what you know if its detrimental.
I commend the sharing of knowledge but really this advice is not good advice. I suspect he might even know better which makes it even stranger!
