I used to have a Google mail account but deleted it because it turned my computer into a slugg! Their Chrome sucks,everything about that company sucks! I think You Tube is trying to keep tubers from meeting each other.There's nn way to sub people with the new layout.You Tube better change back!

From what I hear as of March 1, 2012 we will no longer have that "option" to switch back...That's the whole point of the boycott.....Our channels will ALL be that uniform, drab, Alcatraz gray....no color....no creativity....nothing.....cookie cutter blah.
Didn't you guys seethe edit Chanel button at the top?? Well if you click that button at the top then click the button that daydream switch back to the old channel design the. It switches it back the way it always was. That easy. A tip from me. ^^

I too have stuck with the old layout only to switch on to YT today to find the message "All channels will be updated to the new layout on March 1st 2012.
It's so sad that after uploading all of my videos and customising my channel background the way i wanted it and the time it's took me to do it YT are going to take away that creativity.

I honestly think we, as people who deserve respect, should boycott them even if they don't force the change. The reason I say this is because, even in the unlikely event this doesn't come to pass, THEY SHOULD NEVER TRY TO FORCE PEOPLE TO CHANGE!!!! It's rude, disrespectful, and not worth it. They need to be punished for this, and I say we hit them in the pocket book for ever letting it get this far. Like if you agree.

It is so easy to see .... this video is so correct .... why are these people who get paid so much money to design youtube so blind ? ... The page use to showcase the Artist .... the new look just looks like some sort of glossery at the end of a book .... @geogreg27 It will suck nearly all the enjoyment out of being here for many of us! I like making videos, etc. but meeting all the great people here has been a HUGE fringe benefit and this new layout will drastically affect our ability to do that :(

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), also known as H.R. 3261, is a bill that was introduced in the United States House of Representatives on October 26, 2011, by Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) and a bipartisan group of 12 initial co-sponsors.
The bill expands the ability of U.S. law enforcement and copyright holders to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods.[2] Now before the House Judiciary Committee, it builds on the similar PRO-IP Act of 2008 and the corresponding Senate bill, the PROTECT IP Act.
The originally proposed bill would allow the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as copyright holders, to seek court orders against websites accused of enabling or facilitating copyright infringement.
Depending on who requests the court orders, the actions could include barring online advertising networks and payment facilitators such as PayPal from doing business with the allegedly infringing website, barring search engines from linking to such sites, and requiring Internet service providers to block access to such sites.
The bill would make unauthorized streaming of copyrighted content a crime, with a maximum penalty of five years in prison for 10 pieces of music or movies within six months. The bill also gives immunity to Internet services that voluntarily take action against websites dedicated to infringement, while making liable for damages any copyright holder who knowingly misrepresents that a website is dedicated to infringement.
The bill would authorize the U.S. Department of Justice to seek court orders against websites outside U.S. jurisdiction accused of infringing on copyrights, or of enabling or facilitating copyright infringement.
After delivering a court order, the U.S. Attorney General could require US-directed Internet service providers, ad networks, and payment processors to suspend doing business with sites found to infringe on federal criminal intellectual property laws. The Attorney General could also bar search engines from displaying links to the sites.
The bill also establishes a two-step process for intellectual property rights holders to seek relief if they have been harmed by a site dedicated to infringement. The rights holder must first notify, in writing, related payment facilitators and ad networks of the identity of the website, who, in turn, must then forward that notification and suspend services to that identified website, unless that site provides a counter notification explaining how it is not in violation.
The rights holder can then sue for limited injunctive relief against the site operator, if such a counter notification is provided, or if the payment or advertising services fail to suspend service in the absence of a counter notification.

Ahhh, I just went to this "Gozie" that some of you are talking about. Eh, I think it needs a little work, and it took me awhile to find someone with a decorated channel, but I eventually did. It's different, but better than what the "new Youtube" is gonna be. Maybe I'll let my "contacts" know about it.
I hate the new layout, I took one look at it and said..."Hell NO" and switched back to my old layout. I like my background, I worked hard on my channel! I don't want YouTube destroying it, They might as well delete it, they are taking it away from me anyway with this new bs layout. I'm hoping they will see how many people hate it and reconsider forcing it down our throats like a bible thumper at a Marilyn Manson concert.

@martian953 Thank you for your comment! Yes, gozie has some issues to work out, such as the video quality. I believe it's only about a year old - maybe less. People have said it's like the "old Youtube', so is probably similar to YT when YT was first starting out. It's kinda nice to be in on the ground floor. I'll be spending more time there if YT doesn't work for me any longer. Take care!
Well, I did really count, but I always would check the recent channels and say hi to the new people. There would be maybe one or two new ones a week, if that. But the last 2 weeks there have been PAGES of new users and I had to stop saying hi because I couldn't keep up to them.
I guess this was a change many saw coming. After all it is all a business. I'm sure other alternatives will begin to emerge to fill the space YT is leaving, where I expect to continue enyoing your fine videos.

There were not many users, and hardly any new people signing up. But I can tell you this - in the last few weeks, since this new YT layout became more known, I was astounded at the explosion of new accounts that have opened.

Good message, but for those who've been around long enough will know that the things shown in this video were TOO once the "new YouTube". Just give it a couple months, everything will be back to normal.
I really don't want this to be the next myspace. New people to the site will have no way to get views. Their videos will be at the end of all the searches and since they will have no friends no one will find them. The Vevos and Toshes will be the only ones found to get comments.
I honestly believe that the people who run YT are complete idiots. I bet they don't spend any time at all browsing videos or viewing members channels. They have no idea what the users want, and more importantly they don't care. I think the most annoying aspect of YT is the moronic captcha, which serves no purpose at all, other than to irritate users. But will the YT police change anything that users dislike, absolutely not.
@SK4869 When corporations are involved the bottom line is always the almighty dollar. However, if YT ignores the negative feedback about the channel layout and people start looking around for other similar websites, someone will come along and create something to accommodate them. @TheLefthand21 As a corporation Google seems interested only in increasing profits, and that's what all this is about. However, Google is already fabulously wealthy. We all know this even though it has remained tight-lipped about it's profits and actual worth. So yes, they will listen if they feel that this new channel layout will reduce usage and therefore their profits.If enough people participate in the boycotts, then yes they'll notice. Thank you, my, dear for taking the time to create this lovely video and fight this. I am so disappointed by all this. I love so much the diversity on YouTube...so many creative people here, but this new layout will kill our freedom of expression. It is a closed door and I don't feel like commenting on those channels who already switched, it is so empty, cold. Hang in there, we still have our friendship and who knows maybe someone will create another site like what YouTube used to be.
@LeSCINTILLA I know, Sophie. I have met so many wonderful people from all over the world here, and I first got to know them a little by looking at their channels. When I see that grey slab, and try to post a comment, it all feels so impersonal. I just don't go to those channels very often - I can't. But you're right, we still have our great friends here and if YT no longer feels right for us, somebody else will be quick to set something up that does. Have a nice weekend!

OMG! That is a spectacular production! I really mean it. My eyes are watering. It really is so sad that they are ruining something that was once so wonderful and fun. Soon even our 'contacts' will be gone only to have subscribers. It's all so cold and impersonal. What's the next thing they take, our video comments? Maybe one day we will log on only to find a giant "Ad" button to click and nothing else. :(
@GoodTimeJesus That's what I understand. That Google wants us to do all our socializing on Google+, so it would make sense that they eventually get rid of comments. I don't know what will happen to the small uploaders here, either. My favourite videos are the fun, random ones they make and their fan-made music videos. Big Corp official videos just aren't as interesting, but those seem to be the ones Youtube wants now :(
@grizzlyten Ahhh so that's what they want to do, to herd us off over the YouTube cliff to socialize on Google. I think this will wind up killing all of us that aren't the big partners. It seems they only want the videos and users that bring in the big bucks for them. I guess in the end it's their company and they can do it but we can leave in droves and head for greener pastures hoping one day they wake up and see the light!

What I find the most offensive in what YouTube has done, is that all the sheer time and effort into creating terrific uploads by it's members, will more than likely be wiped out by the corporate machine of coldness. Added to that, the deliberate removal by them of friends-lists, will only cause people to seek other gathering places. YouTube deserves to be an empty derelict house after what's happened recently. A classic "shot-themselves-in-the-foot" moment I think.

If they can't make money off our friends lists or channel comments or channel designs, they figure they don't need those things. What they seem to have failed to think through is, who is going to come here and click on their stupid ads once we have no reason to come back?

You know how I feel, youtube has already raped and pillaged my channel and rendered a lot of it nuetered loosing features and information that I can not acess any more, it wasn't broken, so why in the hell did they try to fix it, it's ture, change is not always for the good.

The page use to showcase the Artist .... the new look just looks like some sort of glossery at the end of a book .... @martian953 Thank you for your comment! Yes, gozie has some issues to work out, such as the video quality. I believe it's only about a year old - maybe less. People have said it's like the "old Youtube', so is probably similar to YT when YT was first starting out. It's kinda nice to be in on the ground floor. Well, I did really count, but I always would check the recent channels and say hi to the new people. There would be maybe one or two new ones a week, if that. But the last 2 weeks there have been PAGES of new users and I had to stop saying hi because I couldn't keep up to them.

There were not many users, and hardly any new people signing up. I honestly believe that the people who run YT are complete idiots. I bet they don't spend any time at all browsing videos or viewing members channels. They have no idea what the users want, and more importantly they don't care. I don't know what will happen to the small uploaders here, either. My favourite videos are the fun, random ones they make and their fan-made music videos. Big Corp official videos just aren't as interesting, but those seem to be the ones Youtube wants now :(

It seems they only want the videos and users that bring in the big bucks for them. What I find the most offensive in what YouTube has done, is that all the sheer time and effort into creating terrific uploads by it's members, will more than likely be wiped out by the corporate machine of coldness. Added to that, the deliberate removal by them of friends-lists, will only cause people to seek other gathering places. YouTube deserves to be an empty derelict house after what's happened recently. A classic "shot-themselves-in-the-foot" moment I think.

If they can't make money off our friends lists or channel comments or channel designs, they figure they don't need those things. What they seem to have failed to think through is, who is going to come here and click on their stupid ads once we have no reason to come back?

The new lay out is something for robots but not for people wo like to have friends from all over the world and talk to them,the world was united on You Tube.
PLEASE You Tube let us keep our channel the way it was,we loved it this way.

You know how I feel, youtube has already raped and pillaged my channel and rendered a lot of it nuetered loosing features and information that I can not acess any more, it wasn't broken, so why in the hell did they try to fix it, it's ture, change is not always for the good.

@toogawnjawn Yes, our channels were great as they were. If they go ahead with this change - and I'm sure they will - I'll so much miss the old layout. The new one just doesn't work for me - I've tried it out several times.

Nice one Cheryl, I feel the same sentiment, I'm afraid YT dont really give a crap about our feelings, people's channels are an expression of them selves & being individually different is what makes it interesting, I just dont feel the same with it all any more

of course i have not seen every video on yt, by that i simply meant that most fans of any artist will sooner or later have seen them. and that there will no longer be any creative fan vids showing their love of the chosen artist.
