  • I find mmf2 to be a lot more noob friendly and easier than gm too. It also has a lot of little things that are easier than in gm, that greatly add up for me. Im definitely interested in your source code, when you release it.... :)

  • Great engine! keep it up!

do you still work on it? is it possible to make a small open source tutorial?

  • amigo dame el link en un mp porfabor

  • I'm looking for something like this to use in a MMX remake. In which I'll be making each stage longer and more difficult.

    Good work here.

  • Can I ask you something? is it easy to use(MMF)? I'm thinking of many games but I have a hard time imagining how it works. when I compare this to game maker, this one looks a little easier. btw, when a game is completed do you still need to use MMF2 to run it or is it separated into an .exe file.

  • @jcudal32 If you want to just "play" it, then you can just run the exe. But if you would like to make edits to it, then ya, you would need MMF2.

MMF2 is pretty simple to use. I personally like it much more than Game Maker. Try out the demo if you'd like.

  • @GameDragon2k thanks for the quick reply..funny thing is that I already have the program, but I have no clue as to what to do with it. I have an idea of what games I want to make but I have no idea where or how to start. Can I ask you a question? How and where did you learn all this stuff? Looking at your Xengine I am highly impressed as to how well you imitate the console version of Megaman X. the speed, the gravity, the speed he slides down a wall. they're really close to the original source!

  • @jcudal32 continuation of my post(LOL). Unlike multimedia fusion 2, game maker has all these issues with tight controls(this is combining all the indie games and comparing it to all the combined MMF3 indie games). so far, MMF2 presents a better way to create games with tight controls. I don't mean to hate GM fans, and I'm sure there are work arounds for those. it's just that Multi Media Fusion seems a lot way easier, noob friendly and less buggy. so yeah, where did you learn all these?

  • @jcudal32 I would suggest you try looking at some general tutorials on the Clickteam website, or Daily Click (although it's full of outdated content). You should also check the Clickteam message boards, it's full of helpful people.

  • @jcudal32 you cant really say which one is better. it all depends on personal opinions and knowledge i personally prefer game maker but that might be because i feel like i got more control over the game im making in game maker plus for me its alot faster to make a game in game maker than in mmf2

  • Will you eventually add Zero to this, or is it just X?

  • when are you gonna release this engine?? i want to work on it to try to make a serious megaman x9 project

  • @LaNekra Still quite a lot of work to do. It won't be released for some time, but you can expect some more info and/or videos soon enough.

  • @GameDragon2k ok and... can you please make a video explaining how do you do this? like a tutorial for an advance platform game in mmf2 please? all the tutorials i find are basics! please! maybe not now.. youre busy i guess.. but make it when you have some free time please :D

  • @LaNekra Sorry, I don't think I have the time. I'll likely provide some sort of documentation/readme for reference.

  • damn this looks awesome! can't wait to test it ,-)

    great work!

  • Looks awesome dude. :)

  • > This Engine NEEDS Options to Add Mp3 music or sound Files without Slowing down like Game-maker does sometimes.!

    *-Just my thoughts.*

-Get this thing working & ;... is it downloadable yetz?*

  • whats better? macromedia flash mx or multimedia fusion 2 ??

  • @LaNekra MMF2. It's much easier, and provides WAY more functions than you'd ever imagine.

  • manually taking damage? LOOL

  • X13? Wow, you're seriously thinking ahead. Maybe a bit too far ahead...

  • Mega-Man X-??

  • Those are some great ones o.O. You too TwistedVivid.

Though don't jump the gun just yet, I'm not sure if I'll go all the way with that just yet =P. You might be better off saving it for someone who's sure to make an X9.

  • =) hee hee.

  • Looks really cool so far. How will you be handling the creation of new weapons for X to use? There gonna be some sort of tool for making new ones?

Sorry if you already answered this, I skimmed the other comments and didn't see anything.

  • Sorry, it won't be THAT easy to make weapons. ;)

As long as you have some knowledge of MMF, it should be simple enough to insert your own weapon creations into it.

  • Hm, ok... though you did say it'd be open source so maybe someone'll come along and make things easier for lazy people like me :P

  • Awesome!

That may allow fangames, like a potential Megaman X9! Yay!

The best would be to have it aviable as a SNES homebrew, but I agree that it would be a bit too complicated there... ;-)

And for making a game of it, it could interest the creator of MMX: Corruption...

  • Well, if the community wants a Mega Man X9, I'd be glad to assist. ^_^

  • The thing with SNES graphics is that they are harder and take longer to make than NES graphics... : P

But I guess I could help once I'm done with MM10. We'll see. I certainly have Maverick ideas ( :

  • hey if you would still like a tester i'd be happy to help you out ^_^ nice work btw man really impresive

  • Wow, this is pretty excellent. I'm looking forward to the final product very much, I'm sure you'll pull it off!

  • This is very awesome.

You've got a lot of stuff in already. ^_^

It's pretty cool to see that it works in MMF2. It shows that it is indeed capable of doing a lot of cool stuff! *Subscribes*

  • Will you add the "dash wall jump"?

  • Sorry if it's hard to tell, but it's already in. You can see it in the video also.

  • This looks amazing! Will it be open source after completion?

  • It will.

  • Awesome! Can't wait!

  • nice.

  • Flawless Victory! Very nice work! Will X be able to jump on the surface of the water like in X2 and X3? Totally not necessary would be a nice touch if added. Awesome engine nonetheless. Can't wait to see more.

  • Already added my friend. =)

When I have a bit more, I'll upload another video.

  • Touche! I wish you the best of luck.

  • Just out of curiosity, what recording program are you using?

  • Sorry, I could swear I replied already.

I used Camtasia, though a friend said I used it wrong xD. I'll also give Snagit a try, thanks for the recommendation, N64Mario.

  • Ah, well, I recommend CamStudio myself.

Anyway, this looks fantastic. I said on a video of an NES-styled arrangement of Magma Dragoon's stage that an SNES/SFC remake of Mega Man X4 would be pretty awesome, and looking at the engine, it seems quite possible.

  • Funny you mention that. Because my original idea before even starting this engine, was a SFC remake of Rockman X4.

I dunno if I'll still carry that out though.

  • im interested in testing your engine! :D

  • Also, if anyone can recommend me a good screen recorder. I'd gladly appreciate it.

  • What are you currently using? I use Snagit for my videos. It does a fairly decent job. Although the version I use its not up to date, its the only one I had a registry code for. But I'm sure any Snagit version should do. :)

  • Holy CRAP! This is probably one of the most accurate Mega Man X engine's I've seen by far.

Back before MMF2 days, I worked on a MMX fan game. It had heart tanks in the example room. But the engine itself was crap due t me using the built in platform engine.

You did an awesome job at this, even designing it with Multimedia Fusion 2. Great work!

  • Hehe, thanks for the enthusiastic comment! =)

I am also using your own palette method (Thank you for that btw), so really you've contributed to this engine already. =P

  • Absolutely amazing work, and if you're thinking of making that fan game with this engine it could be something really great.

  • Only thing I noticed was that he seems to slide down from walls faster than in the original games. Also, sometimes it doesn't show the dash effect. Other than that everything looks spot on, great job.

  • It's probably the video giving that illusion. He actually slides down slightly slower than he does in X2.

As for the dash effect, do you mean the yellow spark? I actually didn't add minor effects like that or wall jump spark yet. There's still a lot of more important things that need tweaking.

  • I mean the spark and smoke effect after he dashes. At 0:30 when you show dashing you can see it. At 2:08 you can see the sparks but most of the dashes you do underwater after that don't have the sparks, only a few time they do.

  • I apologize, I should have explained myself better.

The spark you are seeing is actually part of X's animation. I only shows for 1 frame (the 15 fps of the video makes it difficult to see). The full spark is actually not in the engine. At least, not yet.
