  • Amazing. If you can sit still during this song, you are truly disciplined.

  • Hey is not that Billy Preston sitting at the piano?

  • Elvis is over rated. He was never the king. There are no Kings in rock'n'roll. And if there would be a King it would be Jerry Lee Lewis.

Elvis died when he did his military service.

  • he is the king

  • You guys have no idea what you are talking about. In the '50s and '60s, folks were digging Little Richard, Fats Domino, Elvis and Jerry Lee ... No hating like I see here, just loving music

  • Billy Preston on the piano...!!

  • Jesse @ 0:52!

  • Jesse Jackson? LOL

  • :))))

  • This is old school rock n roll!

  • I wish I was in that audience. LR rips it up again. I think if you asked any of the sun record artists like Johnny Cash , Roy Orbison about LR they would have told you he was the greatest. Never think the other great performers of the era didn't appreciate super natural talent

  • Yessu Little Richard

  • thnx so much 4 this post. 1 of the best all time rock n rollers. luv him - he could make a depressed person happy

  • Little Richard has a heart for the Lord, I wish he would have sold out to God and just went strictly gopel and preached like he wanted too.

But I believe he has the Spirit inside him from his Pentecostal upbringing..!

    Go RICHARD! This is great!!

  • little richard is just fabulous. what kind of creeps r thinking abt racism? why would tht enter any1's mind? i just cant stand people. thnx 4 this memorable video. he's right, little richard NEVER got his due.

  • FABULOUS. SUCH ENERGY. I LOVE IT!

  • Billy working out on that piano.

  • sure, a lot of people copied little richard including elvis, jerry lee lewis, and the beatles, but little richard was still a huge star. he is an enormously successful man and a household name. it isn't as if he hasn't got his due credit.

  • @iwitchhunter youre right, every musician is a bunch of inluences strung together. sure there was injustice towards blacks at the time but people shouldnt be upset that someone gets influenced by someone of a different color. people want to make white people out to be an evil empire, if it is then why am i not getting anything out of it. i wish people could close their eyes and just listen to good music without regard for anything else.

  • Nobody ... and I mean nobody could sing like Little Richard. That man had some pipes!!!!

  • Little Richard is so phenomenally good he even makes other black guys look like white guys!

  • @zthetha LOL

  • @zthetha racism

  • @zthetha you know how racist that is right?

  • I'm white been listening to this music since 1953 some black artists didn't get their due, sad, but I don't look at little richard and jerry lee as the same thing...each talented in his own way

  • Best version ! So hard to say!!! I have been raised by Evely Freeman's version, probably the most popular. However this one is hot and rocks. If Elvis is the King of Rock, Little Richard is the God ;-)

  • richard needs to follow his calling. look at the power in this. this man is caled to spread the gospel.

  • wow yes!

  • the king and billy preston what a marvelous thing. r.i.p. billy we all still love you thanks for the video

  • SIMPLY WOW

  • Shout brother! Hallelujah!

  • everyone hated Little Richard so much because he was so talented they refused to let him due elvis so they did what they could do best which was copy him! they knew they had a threat N wouldn't let a black man steal any white man shine

  • Go head Little Richard. Most of artists started in the church. Sometimes they have to go back to their roots. U betta sing for Jesus, Richard

  • Beautiful!!!!!! dang they sounded good together..i want more of this

  • Little Richard at his down-home best. Thank you MusicalLove!

  • Billy Preston RIP on piano.... This is legendary.

  • Why do JLL fans feel compelled to go onto every single Little Richard youtube, and yak about how much better *they think* JLL is than LR?? Trying to convince themselves of something? I'm sure Jerry Lee knows what's what, and has no delusions.

  • because Jerry Lee Lewis is a complete carbon copy of this man and his true talent for the white masses, everyone knows who the true kings of rock are, but they want to deny it cause the man is black lol , i just love music, and know where the shit comes from

  • I agree - 100%. History will tell the tale though. 100 years from now, if we're still around.

  • I fell ya. they call elvis the king and richard the architect of rock and roll. you got to have some one build the kingdom before you rule it.

  • @DrKlean so profound. Tight and right.

  • @MUN7001 ...You are wrong! Jerry Lee is and was never a copy of this man.

  • @MUN7001 Jerry Lee Lewis is many things, but a "carbon copy of Little RIchard" is a laughable assertion showing ignorance of BOTH men's music. They are each complex artists drawing upon a myriad of traditions unique to their lives and experiences. Neither needed to steal from the other to do this. The country boogie style goes way back before either men. If Little Richard was so "denied" how come he sold more records? Let's celebrate both men for their contributions.

  • @MUN7001" AMEN, AMEN AND AMEN AGAIN, PREACH THE TRUTH AND SHAME THE DEVIL. They refuse to give this man the honor he deserves, but time will tell and he will be honored as he should be. He is the true King of Rock and Roll, he says it and I believe it, all others are imitators to the throne.

  • @MUN7001 The true Kings of Rock and Roll in no particular order.... Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis. The Queens....Wanda Jackson,

  • @birdstuckinchimney Elvis is, was and will be the King he sold more records and was it all at the same time (greatest voice, good looks, best preformances, wide range of music field), but I have deep respect and love the music of them all. By my opinion Little Richard is so great and fantastic for me has a bigger place in music history than Michael Jackson.

  • @MUN7001

    Jerry is original.

  • SO TRUE.

  • little richard has an awesome gospel album form his early years check it out!

  • yea...real king of rock'n Roll...'n da white's juz' copied like da same they did wit' soul/rn'b 'n called it pop. we always come up wit' somthang 'n they be tryna tah copie it :D

  • I first saw Little Richard in 1957 at George Washington High School in SF. At that time this song came out by Evelyn Freeman and the Exiting Voices. As exciting as Richard is, he doesn't touch Freeman's version

  • you're so lucky !

  • I saw Jerry Lee about the same time in 1957 somewhere in the Bay Area/SF. Also saw Little Richard, Jerry Lee and Chuck Berry about 4 years ago at the Concord Pavilon. Richard and Jerry Lee brought the house done. Chuck Berry stalked off stage after 20 minutes of crap he was dishing out. Disgraceful! No one should ever pay to see the not so merry Mr. Chuck Berry!!!

  • in the 50's, chuck berry was great but I think he isn't a guitar hero, moreover he just performs the same songs live and he doesn't create songs anymore so Jerry Lee is definitely the king of rock'n'roll !

  • I can't say it better than Jimmmmy41.

Little Richard even discovered James Brown. The true splendor is his performance with Jayne Mansfield in "The Girl Can't Help It." GET READY

  • The Originator! The Emancipator! The Liberator! The Architect! Shut Up!

  • It gets no better.

  • Is this gospel? Very good music. I'm heard Sister Rosetta Tharpe singing this song

  • No ones got a voice like Little Richard he,s Da Man

    David Penetana

  • Wow...that is some good stuff!!

  • Lol.........good performace, but he didn't sing the chorus, ''It rained for forty days and forty night...Noah got nervous when the rain kept'a droppin'', etc etc etc....lol

  • when I see this for its allways Sunshine, Dear Richard !! King off rock and roll..........

  • I'm an old bird like these guys, grew up hearing them, some live in concert, sure hope they all make it into Heaven! The way this world is going the only direction left is up!

  • Nothin' like full orchestra gospel, esp. w/ Little Richard, Chuck Jackson & Wilson Pickett!!!!

  • As much as I love this song there is a problem with it.... ITS NOT LONG ENOUGH!

  • It gets no better, ever, than Little Richard singing "Didn't It Rain."

  • can't stop listening to this, this is proof, gospel music doesn't have to suck.

  • who is the guy in the white jacket, he adds a lot to this song, great effort out of him, he gets an A+

  • if i had heard this today on the radio instead of a 6 min rap song about shooting police and raping people i would have had a better day.

  • That looks like Billy Preston (the 5th Beatle) on piano, too.

  • I'tis Mr. Preston!

  • Dont ya'll mess wit' Richard...SHUT UP!!!...LOL...Little Richard is the one and ONLY "King of Rock 'n Roll"..YES, I SAID IT!!!

  • That's ALRIGHT~!!!!! Sing it!!!

  • Little Richard is the most awesome Rock&Roll singer in the universe. He could kickass Elvis every night and day. Also he had the best musicinstrument sounds of all all Rock&Roll bands. Maybe he he had the better band, but i think it was because Little Richard had an awesome interpretic talent. *g*

  • ALRITE LIL RICHARD. He's throwin down

  • This version of Didn't It Rain - the old Gospel standard is off tha chain!!! The best version I've ever heard.

  • Beautiful!!!!!!

    Thanks!

  • Great video/music of Little Richard! Thanks for sharing it with us. MelodyGirl7

  • dang they sounded good together..i want more of this

  • This is from Motown Returns to the Apollo 1985.

  • WOW.god damn legend true legend here!

  • Omg! Little Richard is JAMMING....nice to see the other GREAT ONES on stage too!

Where was this performance? It looks like the Apollo or the Shrine Auditorium in L.A.

  • Where did this come from. Wicked Wilson Pickett and Little Richard rocking the house. Best version of such a tired gospel song.

  • Try Mahalia Jackson's version. It is even better than this one!
