  • 1. Black Hawk Down

    2. Saving Private Ryan

  • Sorry for being a n00b, but is Martin Sheen Charlie Sheen's father?

  • besides your ignoring the thematic messages on the nature of war in both movies.

  • what about All Quiet On the Western Front

  • Comment removed

  • apocalypse now for me was way better. left a way bigger image in my head

  • mankind is disgusting in these evil times

  • @Serkant75 HIPPY!

  • i dont know but apocalypse now has something about it that no other movie has, maybe the chaos of its own evolution, my favorite movie of all time so far

  • @FullTimeHypocrite im sorry i was talking about redux of course

  • What about a mafia movie like the Godfather

  • I liked Saving Private Ryan because it is not politically biased.

  • Didn't really like Saving Private Ryan =/ I did love the scene in the Church man that really touched my heart.

  • I actually think that redux is better than most give it credit for. It does have a lot of drawn out scenes of talking, but "Beyond boring"...absolutely not. They give interesting insight into Kurtz's philosophy and why he decided to fight the war the way he did. That was the driving force of the movie: Willlard trying to piece together the motives of Kurtz as he travelled up the river, and to see it revealed in such a thought provoking way was simply genius.

  • l0l more hector less hair

  • Apocalypse Now (original) 9/10

    Saving Private Ryan 9/10

Haven't seen Apocalypse Now redux, but I plan to

  • metal gear solid is the best war movie ever made.

  • In the eyes of a queer movie critic saving private ryan was worse but truly the kickassness of it was better than apacolypse now

  • @jimbojones091 - Did you just call me queer?

For saying the *opposite* of what I actually said in my reviews?

  • sorry, but i like my war movies more realistic. all is quiet on the western front? i still rememeber that scene, "muter, muter..."

  • I agree avatar sucked dick and don't watch the Redux!! The original is way better. Saving pvt. Ryan and black hawk down r the best in my opinion

  • While also the presentation was miraculous and the ending was brought about after a nice sequence of events with an ample amount of drama and suspicion. Saving Private Ryan was a great war movie. However, after watching Apocalypse Now you'll be changed. What will change you? "The Horror. The Horror."

  • To place Saving Private Ryan above Apocalypse Now is ludacris. Saving Private Ryan failed to bring forth any emotions when a character died since there was no background and the opening beach scene shows the horror and gores of war, but soon after you have soldiers who hold too interesting personalities to be in the middle of a warzone. For Apocalypse Now, it did drag on a bit, but it showed the transitions of emotions and thoughts of Sheen's character to more than make up for it.

  • What do you think of the original version? I haven't been able to myself yet but I hear that it is much more effective and coherent as a movie.

  • Everybody knows "The Pianist" is the best war movie ever made.

  • @ThElectricProduction youtube needs ads to be kept free

  • @ThElectricProduction youtube needs ads to be kept free

  • Spielberg is the best director ever

  • Apocalypse Now is #1

    Then Grave of the Fireflies

    Then The Thin Red Line

  • What about the sandlot 1 and 2 not 3

  • you forgot about Full Metal Jacket!!!!! :O

  • Do the best western movie ever, if you already did i will search for it :D

  • Great choices but giving Apocalypse Now only 7/10 is a travesty. I generally like your taste in movies, except your love for Avatar, but you giving Apocalypse Now such a low score is just wrong, WRONG I SAY.

  • No other war movie can even compete with Saving private Ryan.

  • @SparedSOUP999 ARE YOU KIDDING ME !!!!!! Apocalypes NOW wins the title it was the best war movie of all time it won like 4,000 grammis and it had the best story line to it.

  • Hamburger Hill, Battleground, The Longest Day, Twelve O'clock High, They Were Expendible, Das Boot , after that HBO series: Band of Brothers

Saving Private Ryan is such garbage. Can't believe its not obvious. It would be to ANYONE who slung a weapon

  • @hongrad you know nothing about movies. And people like you are the reasin Hollywood is making shitty movies. Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Platoon and Apocalyse Now.

  • 1.Platoon

    2.Full Metal Jacket

    3.The Thin Red Line

    4.Saving Private Ryan

    5.Apocalypse Now

  • @3Axy10Est13

We were soldiers is another great movie. The Ambush scene was just too tragic.

  • saving private ryan....the biggest bunch of bullshit for a war movie ever. piss-poor premise poorly constructed, non-factual,

a squad of men walking through a field in a combat zone bunched up like kids instead of taking the ridgeline and staying 20 meters apart. everyone with a different uniform, TALKING.

after that ...we are in for a bunch of horseshit where every scene is designed to show one of the actors getting his personal opportunity to perform his own death scene.

    garbage.

  • Saving privat ryan is the best war film everrr

  • Black Hawk Down for me is the best

  • okay daghan pa daw mas tsada

  • In my opinion I think Pearl Harbor is the best.

  • @hongrand ???WHY??? I think Pearl Harbour is the worst war movie ever

  • my top 5 favorite movies are 1. batman the dark knight 2. up 3.saving private ryan 4. iron man2 5.inception

  • @JPizzle1122 @ThElectricProduction yeah it wasa commericial,

but it was a awsome movie trailer ;D

  • you deff deserve more views

  • Saving Private Ryan is the greatest without doubt!

  • Great movie review. Im in mood for War movie! Thanks :D

  • Band Of Brothers is my favorite!

  • Thin Red Line is my favorite

  • @josiahsingh1989 the thin red line makes saving private ryan look like a high school film project!!

  • saving private ryan is much more over all entertaining. apocalypse now had its moments but it was weird at times also. not saying it was a bad movie but it is kinda odd id say to call it the best WAR movie from a war movie point of view

  • Tae Guk Gi: Brotherhood of War - Best ever 4me!!!

  • A somewhat forgotten war movie that is my personal favourite is the japanese "grave of the fireflies". People can be put off by the idea of an animated war movie but it is genuinely the most heart wrenching piece of cinema I have ever seen.

  • Thin Red Line is the name of the movie i wanted to mention and i also like BATAAN, PLATOON, THE KINGDOM, FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, LETTERS FROM IWOJIMA

  • I'm shocked that no one has listed FULL METAL JACKET, shame on you all. And they is 1 ww2 movie set in the pacific theatre starring sean penn, jared leto, john travolta, n the main guy from the oceans movies. just forgot name of movie.

  • @MichaelBludd The Thin red Line?

  • @hellycopper its good but not one of the 2 best

  • @MichaelBludd I agree

  • I wish you would have reviewed the original cut of Apocalypse Now. I think it's one of the greatest movies of all time - worth way more than a 7.0.

  • Saving Private Ryan is best war movie ever!

  • i'm not saying i've watched every single war movie but i think most would agree i have a reasonable top 5

    5. Band of Brothers( tv show but watever)

    4.black hawk down

    3. taegukgi(korean-best foreign film ever)

    2.we were soldiers (too underrated)

1.Saving private ryan( no question about that whatsoever)

btw still dying to see thin red line, hurt locker, platoon, and the pacific until then ill stay with these

  • "Earn This..........."

  • Here is my Top 5:

    5.Valkyrie

    4.The Pacific

    3. Saving private ryan

    2. Schindler's list

    1. Pearl Harbour

I have watched just about every war movie and these are the ones that took it over the top for me.

  • there's a movie called empire of the sun its is truly a great film it shows you the image of a kid in World War II trying to survive and trying to get back to his parents i give the movie a 10. also great acting :]

  • I'm not going to bitch about how Jon didn't give Saving Private Ryan a perfect score (awesome does mean awesome), but I personally would give the film a 10/10. Definitely one of my favorite movies. Also, fans of SPR should check out Children of Men.

  • 5: Zombieland 4: Master & Commander 3: Gods & Generals 2: Gran Torino 1: Dances With Wolves Note: I had DOZENS & DOZENS of movies to pick from, and it took me forever to come up with my favorite 5, so I'll put down the 5 movies that nearly made it in (surprisingly enough, 2 of them are Mel Gibson) 5:Apocalypto 4: Mel Gibson's the Patriot 3: The Last Samurai 2: Valkyrie 1: The Lost Boys
  • stupid ass dog commercial

  • 5 best movies of all time:

    1: Inception

    2:Inception

    3:Inception

    4:Check number 1

    5:check number 1

  • @1Minute60Seconds I still don't get how Inception is viewed as a great movie. Sure it was new and flashy but it was SOOO SLOWW starting. Once they started jumping back and forth I couldn't follow it. How about some categories? Comedies, Action, Documentaries, Horror?

  • @iansucksass If you dont understand the movie then it's basiccly your fault, not the movies, cause I can promise you that Inception has a very well figured story, you just need to see it for a second time to understand it better. I wouldnt say that Inception started slow. It started mysteriously and very interesting and there was amazing action in the very beginning. The beginning was amazingly tense I'd say.

  • I like your no bullshit attitude to the idiots.

  • cuz u tlk alot u only had a chance to show to movies dipshit

  • @lansa23 - You act as if there's a time-limit... I only picked two to review, as is the format of the program. If I wanted to review more, I would have - you fucking idiot.

  • @JPizzle1122 You look like a young Roger Ebert.

  • @MrMarshmell0wman - I look nothing like Roger Ebert...

  • @JPizzle1122 Sorry I ment Leonard Maltin lol

  • @JPizzle1122 Stop getting all butt hurt by provoking comments. Get used to them

  • @bLaKWiDoWFiReWoRkS - It is greatly amusing to me that you think I'm not.

    This is my job dude.

  • @lansa23 it doesnt matter. Saving Private Ryan is worth an entire 3 hours of review. talking.

  • you fucking talk to much

  • @lansa23 - That's sort of the point of the program, shit-for-brains.

  • @JPizzle1122 you sound like a dick

  • I agree with you about Apocalypse Now--Redux, but I'm not sure why you chose that version; Redux was a release for fans only. My favorite war movies are Paths of Glory, Bidge on the River Kwai, & Hell in the Pacific. If Eastwood, I think Letters from Iwo Jima--Heartbreak Ridge is entertaining but not great and Flags of our Fathers is just too long and not as insightful about war.

  • Saving private ryan, heartbreak ridge and apocalypse now are my top 3 favorite war films

  • saving private ryan is the best movie ever

  • Dude Full Metal Jacket is the best war film ever

  • #5 minorty report

    #4 goodfellas

    #3 schriderl's list

    #2 inception

#1 saving private ryan man i love this movie

  • @inbreakingnews Inception isn't a War film?

  • what about enamis at the gates

  • SAVING PRIVATE RYAN !!

  • 1.Schindler's List

    2.Apocolypse Now

    3.Paths Of Glory

    4.Platoon

    5.Saving Private Ryan

  • or full metal jacket, or platoon, or hamburget hill

  • what about kellys heroes, or even forrest gump, tropic thunder although is a comedy is still pretty good

  • i think saving private is the best war film around so get ur ass out and get it also my grandad played the bold big guy :)

  • although it is not a movie but a HBO mini series, Band of brothers is worth watching.

  • I think I would have to say Battle for Haditha was the best war movie because it raised the curtain (to the people who hadn't already raised it, at least) on the mind-bending psyche of soldiers in the middle-east today. It helped portray the atmosphere our troops are in right now and the "kill or be killed" idea they are exposed to.

  • i see a lot of cod killstreaks

  • Apocalypse Now rules all.

  • TAEGUKGI BROTHERHOOD OF WAR is a korean movie but honestly one of the best war movies i have ever seen...PLS WATCH IT PEOPLE

  • i have to strongly disagree with u saying that saving private ryan is the best war movie. i would say Glory was the best one ever made. SPR was just about a captain who sacrificed his life for one pvt. Glory was about racial struggle and the intense want for for freedom and equality.

  • In no order, my top five are Stalingrad, Letters from Iwo Jima, Der Untergang(The Downfall), Enemy at the Gates, Platoon.

  • Full....Metal...Jacket

  • 1.the longest day

    2.battle of the bulge

    3.battle of britain

    4,men in war

    5,the cruel sea

find these and watch em ,

  • taegukki

    inglorious basterds

    SPR

    paths of glory

    black hawk down

  • i know there not movies but what about band of brothers and the pacic

  • Apocalypse Now is the greatest war film and in my opinon, the greatest film ever made. ( Not talking about the redux version ). This movie blew my mind. I can understand someone who's like 13 or 14 to think it's boring. I wouldn't think someone like you would think so. I didn't find a second of this film even barley boring. It had the greatest characters, dialogue, acting, cinematography, soundtrack, action, story, mood, tone, and the greatest most haunting atmosphere in any film.

  • My top war movies:

    1) Band of Brothers

    2) The Pacific

    3) Enemy at the Gates

    4) Saving Private Ryan

    5) Platoon

  • @1996tijs the first two aren't even movies...

  • @AmazingSuperStar1 shut up wiseass it's the best series ever made...

  • Dreadfully pompous ?? This masterpiece? I would be more conservative as a critic. For me there is no comparison between Apocalypse now (an artistic war dream) and Ryan a purely American war movie. (very good of course)

Anyway that's my view on this.

  • Please people .. don't forget Glory, the Alamo, Uncommon Valor. even Red dawn. all very interesting war movies. i just don't want this list to be only ww2 and Vietnam movies.. please think people..

  • and the redux version kinda ruins it, original theatrical version ftw

  • apocalypse now is THE best war film i've ever seen, and one of my favorite films of all time period

  • apocalypes now, The Hurt Locker, No mans land, Full metal jacket, i guess saving private ryan. not that many good war films.

  • 1. Full Metal jacket

    2. Apocalypse Now!

    3. Black Hawk Down

    4. Platoon

    5. Saving Private Ryan

  • @scottrocksalot

    Great list..

  • SAVING PRIVATE RYAN flw!!! :3

  • you scored the butterfly effect 10/10 but not Saving Private Ryan, this guy is totally a DUMBASS

  • Black Hawk Down ; Saving Private Ryan ; Windtalkers ; Pearl Harbor ; And Platoon Were The Best War Movies ! I Left Out Some Because Its Hard To Write On My iPod Hehe

  • Full... metal... jacket, and its not even close.Because it covers it all.Tv guide called it an ''uncompromisingly bleak film'',and that's why it's the best.Because all war films should be uncompromisingly bleak.I mean seriously, who wanted to enlist after seeing this movie?

  • 1. Band of Brothers

    2. Saving Private Ryan

    3. The Pacific

    4. The Letters of Iwo Jima

    5. Windtalkers

  • saving private ryan is the best movie ever made!!!

    1. saving private ryan

    2. platoon

    3. band of brothers

    4. full meatal jacket

    5. the pacific

  • @XxAuToPzYxX if u count Band of Brothers as a movie then its the best movie ever made :)

  • @XxAuToPzYxX and have u seen Saints and Soldiers ? :)

  • @XxAuToPzYxX i personally think band of brothers is better than the pacific, and my fav. movie is forrest gump wich also stars tom hanks.

  • Holy shit Kurtz? Mr Kurtz? Heart of darkness

  • black hawk down was amazing

  • full metal jacket is the best only because of the drill seargant

  • I will pay somebody $50 to count how many times he blinks in this video.

  • @PeterZeGreek Damn you it cannot be unseen

  • @PeterZeGreek ...is it bad if I tried?

  • I'd Like if you could cut it a little down ... its too damn long :D

  • i don't get why people don't like these reviews

Jonathan gives these movies a really honest rating

he does not just give a movie a 10 it really has to prove itself to him

  • @zupergozer and yet he gave Avatar a 10

  • Letters from Iwo Jima, great film. Probably the best one ever made. It shows an interesting story through a different perspective. I really recommend watching the trailer.

  • I get goose bumps when you say "This is Movie Night".

  • What happen to Black Hawk Down !!!

  • Comment removed

  • @xXgamefreak129xX Compared to these two masterpieces, that movies horse shit

  • @xXgamefreak129xX yeah!!!!!!!!11

  • I think it's kinda funny that D-day literally means Day Day.

  • watch?v=KnYAC2_hnKg

''SAVING MY PRIVATES" (2011 - tom hanks)

a MUST see video. you need a good stomach - added yesterday

  • I think my favorite would have to be To hell and back.

  • this is to much. try watching, assembly,( ji jie hao) a vary long engagement, stalingrad, the best always has to come from the united states, and spielberg. enough already.

  • armadillo

  • The Hurt Locker was pretty good too.

  • Red Dawn, Black Hawk Down, The Expendables, Rambo 4, and The Great Raid are some of my favorite war movies

  • @austinburtonjaab actual war movies. not some stupid shit, black hawk down is great though

  • @austinburtonjaab go play call of duty, kid :p

  • dude what about full metal jacket?!?!?!

  • That brings me to the fact that it was the 82nd not the 101st who held The bridge at Rommel, and to my knowledge there was no major engagement only minor infantry skirmishes. So yea storming the beaches scene was very well done. Though I want to say that the Rangers landed at point du hoc, but that may not be true. On with the list Das Boot has to be on there. The lost battalion, Patton, and Im sure there's more. As for movies like Platoon and FMJ, better off watching Hamburger Hill.

  • The 2nd SS panzer division was at Caen on the opposite side of the allied advance, fighting the british. The whole lets make em SS so we don't feel bad about slaughtering them is something that Hollywood needs to get over. Most of the Germans Fighting in the war were not Nazi's and not in the SS. That being said the Waffen SS which is what the second was part of had no dealings with what went on at the concentration camps. That being said they were members of the nazi party. Had to be to get in

  • Best in terms of historical accuracy, in no particular order. Hamburger Hill, We Were Soldiers, Gettysburg, Gods and Generals, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Generation Kill, Tora Tora Tora!, Battle of Midway, The Longest Day, A Bridge to Far, Battle of the Bulge, The first 24-minutes of Saving Private Ryan. I would just put SPR on the list but it does the normal hollywood bs of having the heroes fight an SS unit. To be precise their insignia was that of the 2nd SS panzer division.

  • Why isn't full metal jacket on this
