You don't have to accept people's disrespect for gender identity AT ALL because they don't know your medical history. It's not like they know when you were born. It's biologically proven that trans people have transgendered brains & minds from conception. It's also fact that lots of people are born with more than just a "conventional" kind of chromosome pattern. I wish I was there with you when that happened cause they woulda felt real stupid after that.

I like that you said you have to align your body with your heart! I can only imagine. Everyone's situation is different. In my case, I cringe when I hear someone call me a man but I also know that I look very male. You also must realize that western society is a very patriarchal society and it's more socially acceptable to call a woman "mister" than call a man "miss" regardless of anyone's medical history. I'm not saying it's right for people to do, nor should you have to "suck it up." Maybe just giggle and say "Actually, my name is ____." Confidence is key.
