Just a thought, but perhaps you could record the humming from the engines from an episode where nobody is speaking, no music, no other FX, and then in the future lay over dialogue from other sources, like "American Dad", over the humming and use it that way, so it blends and there is no sudden drop in silence for the dialogue chunk..
